Installation of WXP and VAP - FN brightness keys don't work

Hello

All the sources I found State that the package of value added cannot be installed on XP. I was able to rewrite the installation file to install VAP and its required files without problem.
I am able to run the programs and the function. The only problem I have is that the brightness (F6 and F7) FN keys still don't work.

Someone at - it a program that allows you to control the brightness of the backlight for windows XP?

Thank you
M

Hello M

I must say that the PPV is not designed for Windows XP Home edition and I first, you know this very well.
WXP Toshiba has installed several tools and utilities for different functions FN. In Vista Toshiba has designed the package called VAP but with this package will follow tools and utilities installed:
-Toshiba components pilot common
-Toshiba Utilities
-Toshiba PC Diagnostic tool
-Toshiba Power Saver
-Toshiba Button support
-Toshiba zooming utility
-Toshiba Flash cards

If you want to have good work functionality FN + Fx you just install all the drivers, tools and utilities for Windows XP Home designed for your laptop model.

What model of laptop do you have?

    Hello

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3552. The laptop comes with Linux, but I recently used a windows license, I have to install Windows Pro x 64 10. Everything works well except one thing:

The brightness keys don't seem to work. I checked the power settings where there is a slider for brightness and the bar changes the brightness when I drag them with the mouse. In the Windows Mobility Center, there is also a similar bar that can change the brightness with the mouse successfully. I tried to boot in the BIOS (F2) and brightness keys it seems to work, so the problem seems to be only under Windows.

Windows found all 10 drivers for the laptop, but I installed the display driver that I found using the Service tag. I didn't install anything else. I also tried to uninstall intel drivers and use the default Microsoft ones, but the buttons were 'dead' again.

To install windows, I changed the Boot Option (UEFI) legacy and turned off the quick start... All other Fn keys (such as the audio for example) seem to work.

I would like to get the keys to work because he was such an important feature for a laptop.

    Thanks in advance.

PS. I also found this driver in page of intel which ends with the same version of 4 digits that downloaded from dell, but all the other numbers are different. Don't know if it's the same thing or do not give it a try.

It was the quickset application. Once installed, everything works as it should.

  • HP Pavilion g6: F2 F3 brightness keys don't work

I just installed Win7 and now my F2 F3 buttons do not work for the brightness, that I have to install any special device for this driver? Can if so someone send me a link to that.

    Hello

    Try the following.

Download the graphical installer on the following link and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp61501-62000/sp61715.exe

When you are finished, download and reinstall the Chipset driver at the following link.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp61501-62000/sp61717.exe

Once finished the installation of the Chipset, do not restart as guest - instead of this, open your download folder, right-click on the graphical installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.

Once this done, stop the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Start Notepad and let Windows take over completely for a few minutes before checking if the f2/f3 buttons function.

    Hello:

Have you installed the graphics driver applicable?

If this is not the case, the brightness will be pasted up among other graphics problems.

In order to provide more assistance, I would need to know which specific processor your model and if it has the Intel or another model graphic adapter.

I see from my records that a similar case has been solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the update WAT - KB971033

Open the Windows Update - click the link view updates installed on the left of the page

in the list, find the WAT update KB971033, and then uninstall it.

Then restart and reinstall the update from here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033

redemarrer restart again, then try to change your product key to the one on the sticker - what is happening this time?

I have an iPad 2 and one row of keys just stopped working.  I tried to force a restart and it has not fixed the problem. Any ideas?

If you rotate the camera in landscape mode, change the key group that will not work, in correspondence to the East of the screen does not not in portrait mode? If so, then it could very well be a hardware error. If the force restart did not work, your next troubleshooting steps would restore backup, restore to factory. Until you if you want to go too far, or all simply make an appointment at the Apple Store nearest to have the material examined.
