Installed Vista Home Premium twice!

Hi, I lost all my data at one point and had to start from scratch.  I think I've installed windows two times because each time I start up I have to choose between 'windows vista' and 'windows vista '... I was chosen the first of all time, but I think that twice have there may be slowing me down.  Any ideas on how to uninstall the version of a second without it automatically uninstalled everything?

We do not know how you the installed.

I suggest you do a clean install of CUSTOM, deleting the Vista Partition existing/s during the process.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Save all data, because it will be lost during a clean installation.

  • Can I install Vista Home Premium with my product key?

    I have Toshiba Satellite A300-146, model No.: PSAJ0E, 1 GB RAM, Intel Dual core 1.87 processor, chipset Mobile Intel (r) 965 family with * vista home premium *...

    But it's in the recovery disk... If I install it, my hard drive will be formatted and become the only partition...
    If I install the vista Home premium (downloaded from the internet) and enter my laptop product key, * is it make real *... ?

    Hello

    To be honest, I don't understand what your question is.
    Why you want to install downloaded Vista Home Premium if you already have one with your laptop?

    Recovery image is complete with all the drivers, tools and utility, but if you install OS naked, then you have lots to installing of all Toshiba stuff in the hope, everything will be OK.
    Installation of recovery can be done on two tracks:

    Help of created recovery DVD *.
    In this case the whole HARD disk will be formatted and all your data will be gone, but you certainly get it with two partitions. Folder HDDRecovery there again on the second partition.

    * Using the recovery disk (F8) procedure *.
    If you do this just first partition (C) is deleted. All the data on the second partition will be there again.

    So please let me know what is your problem exactly and what you want to do.

    I don't understand exactly how errors in the two newspapers are related, but my opinion is that, if I can solve my CheckSUR.log errors, CBS.log errors will disappear to, and then I might even be able to install SP1.

    Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

    1 person needs an answer

    For what is interesting, what I ended up doing to solve my problems was to re - install Vista with the 'upgrade' option, so I don't lose any of my files or desktop settings...

    After that, I had a few problems with my OS reinstalled with several (80 +) updates, SP1 and SP2 from catching up.  But overall these problems were minor compared to it, that I lived just to fix some missing files.

  • problem installing vista Home premium service pack 2

    I recently had a hardware crash, had to reinstall the operating system, i.e. Windows vista Home premium with service pack 1 (32-bit) who came wth the system. Later, I tried to update the operating system, but the thrown error was 'WindowsUpdate_80080005 '. I tried to download vista sp2 on microsoft site, and when I tried to install it, it threw an error mentioning as casastrophic error E_unexpected(0*8000ffff). How can I update my windows vista Home premium with Service Pack 2?

    I tried the options listed below
    • tried to update via windows update, it threw an error "WindowsUpdate_80080005."
    • tried to install it by downloading the sp2, it threw an error E_unexpected(0*8000ffff)

    Hi, DavidDarse,

    0 x 80080005 indicates that there is a problem of access denied with the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) security descriptors.

    1. don't you make changes on the computer before the show?

  • I can't read the SLP COA on my laptop and need to re - install Vista Home Premium

    I have an old Acer Aspire. It came with Vista Home Premium installed. In January, I bought a new HD and installed Windows 7. I don't like it and want to go back to Vista. E problem, it is that the COA sticker is so old that I can't read all the numbers that it burns me upwards I'm trying to be legal here and things are conspiring against me. I can't read 4 characters.

    Hello

    Tips from Microsoft is to contact Acer and ask them a different product key.

    I've never seen Acer a supply.

    And there is no way that we can help you with a different key of product here.

    You can contact Acer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disc Vista for your model

    They will demand the SN: (serial number).

    They should do this for a small fee.

    The risk you run is that Acer has suspended the sale of recovery disc for some of its models.

    How to order the eRecovery discs:

    https://store.Acer.com/store?action=DisplayDataValidationServicePage&locale=en_US&siteid=Acerna

    The relocation method above does not normally allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

    The other thing you could do is to get a flame and the magnifying glass and see if you can read these 4 numbers.

    See you soon.

  • Install VIsta Home Premium - impossible to uninstall Nero Burning ROM?

    I'm trying to upgrade to Windows XP SP3, Vista Home Premium.  After verification, it tells me that I must remove Nero Burning ROM.  I uninstalled Nero products, used the tool clean and searched all files, nothing done.  I'm not leaning toward a clean install, but hate all the work of having to reinstall all my programs... (yes I know it is better however).   Can anyone help direct me to a way to not have to do a clean install?

    Hi Lorigolden,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Windows Vista forums.

    Download the Nero Web site Nero removal tool

    Run the tool to remove the application and then try to upgrade your computer.

  • The disk (with no key) installed Vista Home Premium, and the license key OEM is for... Home Basic!

    I recently did a clean install with the disc that came with my Dell XPS6400 (bought in the auction) local computer, which had only "Vista 32bits" written on it and no product key.  I thought I could use the key on the sticker on the underside of the computer OEM license, even if the 2 characters in the 3rd section were partially missing - they had to be one of the other four.  When OEM license was initially considered valid, I realized that I had not yet downloaded a service pack, but after that, he was still to come as being invalid!  Then, I found that the version of Vista that was on the disc was "Home Premium" and the OEM for "Home Basic" license key  Do I have to reinstall the whole system, drivers, etc., in order to establish the upgrade?  (Please say "NO", there is an easier way to do this!    Here's the MGADiag. -I hope it helps.  :-}

    The product key on the bottom will work for what he says he is, Windows Home Basic Edition.

    Reinstall the correct Systyem, Windows Home Edition basic operation to use this product key.

    And Microsoft sells more than Vista.

    To reinstall Vista Home Basic read this information.

    You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

    They should do this for a small fee.

    And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought, not that one 32-bit, vista, your computer must be on the hard drive to reinstall recovery Partition Vista to how you bought your computer, which may or may not work after the installation of the wrong edition.

    The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

    Ask them to the proper key sequence.

    Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

    If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

    You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

    Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

    And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

  • When install Vista Home Premium computer hangs on the language selection screen. No visible cursor, the keyboard and the mouse does not.

    Hi, when I try to install vista that Home Premium 32 bits on the computer of my son, through the installation of loading files with the gray bar at the bottom, then goes to the screen language selection, at this stage, I can not select anything using the keyboard or the mouse. There is no cursor visible. Keyboard and mouse both work fine in the bios and on other machines. Have used other keyboards and mice on the machine in question, but that makes no difference. Tried another copy of vista, no difference. Tested on Windows 7 install and everything works fine!

    Very confused, thinking that it must be a driver problem, but how about him? Any help is appreciated!

    Hi Rickydg,

    Thanks for posting. Please contact ASUS and see if there is a BIOS update available for your system. Update the BIOS and then try to install again.

  • Install Vista Home Premium Toshiba Recovery disk

    Hello

    I question: is it possible to install Vista recovery disk without erase all data on the HARD drive and destroy the current configuration partition?

    Question II: Is it possible to to somehow 'get' the installation of Vista from Toshiba recovery disc files,
    integrate em with SP1 and train a separate Vista installation disc?

    Question III: How much space do you think I should spare for the primary partition for Vista OS only (file and all the other software will be on other partitions)?

    (1) No, it is not possible to install Vista from the Toshiba Recovery disk without format the whole HARD drive.
    You can only use the HARD drive recovery feature if you don t want to erase the whole HARD drive. Then only the first partition is erased.

    (2) No, this is not possible. The recovery disk contains factory settings in an image and you can change something. You must install SP1 after installing Windows.

    (3) you must use the 15 or 20 GB for the system partition, but if you reinstall Vista, you reinstall all of the programs. So you can install all the programs on the first partition.

  • Errors in re - install Vista Home Premium

    I had to replace the hard drive in my HP laptop. When I try to reinstall Windows Vista Premium using the provided OEM recovery disks provided with the computer, I receive several error messages.
    The first error is: Windows Mail not started - MSOE.DLL not initialized.
    The second comes when updates are error: 8024 to 000. I tried to use the fix was released on 2009-02-17 by a Microsoft licensee, but it has not solved the problem.
    The third is after downloading SP1 to install a manual I have in-house 0x8000FFFF error when installing it.
    I had to reimage the old disk using the recovery disks, the virus a year ago and had no problem.
    The operating system seems to work fine otherwise.

  • Can I install Vista Home Premium 64-Bit on my Satellite U400?

    Hello

    In another thread, I posted a problem with no hot spare for the OS pre-installed Grrr...

    In any case, I think to upgrade the 64-bit operating system - is - anyone know if this is possible on the Satellite U400? I checked the specifications of the processor on the Intel Web site and it seems that the CPU can... but on the rest of the machine?

    Thank you

    Peter

    Well, Yes. You must take a physical inventory of Sysinfo or device manager and then for each specific devie locate and download a driver.

    When you uprade to Vista 64-bit, then any driver not found during installation can be acquired from your download. Vista is generally well equipped with drivers, with the exception of the exclusive features of Toshiba.

    Microsoft does not disks for computers of brand manufacturers.

    https://secure.TX.Acer.com/rcdb/main.aspx?brand=Acer

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
  • Clean install Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2 on my Acer Aspire 7520... Windows Update does not work?
    The tool on, for me, works much faster than 4 hrs. I just ran yesterday on a Windows 7 factory restore and it finished in under an hour. It's your call.
