Installer of Windows Vista. -Error message: "another installation is already in progress. That completes before proceeding with this installation. »

When I go to open Word or PP files I get a message "another installation is already in progress. That completes before proceeding with this installation. "There is no other facility. I can't install the Vista updates either. I suspect a problem with windows Installer.

If I read this correctly, you have a portable computer that do not have an operating system on it.  You try to install Vista and get the error.
You've restarted the Vista installation?  So then you get the same error? If you have tried to install more than once and continue to receive this error, check that the laptop is capable of Vista?  You may need to check with the manufacturer of the laptop to see if it is able to support Vista. • Windows Vista home Premium 32 bit SP2: iTunes 10.1: there is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run.

I worked on it for about 3 days now. It's driving me crazy. I tried everything I could find to try to solve this problem.

When installing iTunes it stops and a box will then appear to me said "there is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support provider or package. "No error message or anything, that's all I get. When I hit the only button I can hit the OK button, it continues to install QuickTime. Sometimes, it will install the iTunes file and the shortcut, but the shortcut does never work and the iTunes file is always empty. I have download the installer directly from Apple.com and save to the desktop, a new copy after each test (just in case).

Here is a list of what I've tried:

Yes, I am the administrator of the computer with admin abilities, yes I checked run this program as an administrator. I also made sure to stop all this as possible could interfere with the instillation, including my anti virus and what not even before I tried a clean boot.

Is there anything else I can try?

    ~ Thank you

I'm having a problem running Halo: Combat Evolved on Windows Vista. I can insert the disc and install the game without problem. The problem is that when I try to launch the game, I get error message saying "" unload the debugger, and then try again." I tried to install some of Halo patches to see if that would fix the error (for example, 1.6 and 1.7), but when I try and open the patch .exe file I get an error message telling me to go to a microsoft Web site or try to update the game manually. In addition, I tried to contact Gearbox Software to see if they could help me, all they said was to contact Microsoft.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the game does not work for me and how can I make it work?

Windows Vista Home Basic preinstalled on my Compaq laptop will not accept code provided with the computer installation. HP can't help. Your say talking to HP and HP technicians say they are unable to help him. I'm now using valid XP. HP say that conflict with Vista. Can anyone help?

    original title: VISTA VS. XP

Your technicians say talk to HP

Sorry, this is not Microsoft.  This is a public forum from user to user hosted by Microsoft on its servers for the comfort of its clients, and we all here are volunteers.

You say you use XP.  What is your question?  What do you mean 'conflicts with Vista?

I suggest recovery discs you order from HP for your computer.  If HP is no longer the issue of stocks you can order such a third of Recovery - Disks.com.  There are several of these companies.  If you are going to use XP, you need to install XP from scratch and this means that you need XP drivers for your brand and model.  If HP has no XP drivers on your computer you must not try to use XP on it.

Remember that Vista Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate out of Microsoft support on 10 April and there will be more updates, including critical security patches after that date.  Only Vista business and company will continue to receive updates.  You might consider this a good time to upgrade to Windows 7.  You must download and run the Windows Update Advisor once you restored Vista successfully.

I suspect that you currently see the effects of a hijackware infection, in which case you absolutely want to save all personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD drive & make a clean install of Windows 7.

HOW to do a clean install of Win7: see "using the custom installation option" and formatting the hard drive section ofhttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) otherwise and before connecting a flash drive, card SD or any other external disk to the computer:

As stated above I get this error message and can not do in SafeMode to rstore system dates back to an earlier era.

I did the system of tapping F8 and tried all offered options of safe mode, but it does not open in any safe mode, just this error message

I read a lot of forums and other people with a similar problem (but more than 2 years ago!) could be accessed in secure mode or had a Vista system drive which gave a repair option.

I have neither.  Even the "External recovery Media" disc only allows me to do save and restart.  During the reboot it just goes straight to the error message.

At the start, I have the option (via F2) for open System Utilities but couldn't see whatever it is in there that I thought might help.

    Hi howeclan,

To resolve this problem, you need to have the drive of the installed operating system. You can see the following article in the knowledge base: the update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista and Windows 7:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358

You can contact the manufacturer of the computer to the disk, or you can also contact a store of assistive technology.

  • Start Windows XP error message: "error loading C:\WINDOWS\INODEN.dll".

original title: Windows XP error message at startup

When you start Windows XP, I get the error message

    "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\INODEN.dll

The specified module could not be found "."

How can I fix this to avoid dll error message that it appearing?

the dll is likely because there is a start-up or a service that always calls for her but this dll is no longer on disk.

You must understand, what parent program has this dll to the child.

Locate the parent service and or start parent program via msconfig, then turn it off.

as to why the dll could not be found - it might have been zapped by your anti viral or you have uninstalled a poorly written program and he left an entry of orhpaned inland startup Control Panel, for example msconfig.   (by the way, may have orphaned registry keys too.  but that's another issue)

in any case, to review entries in msconfig, click on start > run > msconfig

before changing the msconfig, first mark a restore that can help point to reverse all the mistakes you made by accident.
