  the A30 has a S-video out.

  If your TV has only video then you will get only a black and white screen.

  To get a color screen, you need a TV with S-video.

• Satellite A100-237: S-video/RCA-out black & white

  Hey everybody,

  I'm * tent * to connect my laptop to my TV via the s-video on my A100-237 output, unfortunately the (PAL) TV is old enough and the only entrance is RCA so I got a RCA s-video cable. The picture comes out in black and white, and I changed the settings on the TV and PAL video card settings. I heard that you need to activate "composite synch" in the properties of the monitor/TV connected in order to get color on s-video/RCA output, however I can't this setting in the properties of the TV in the ATI Control Panel.

  I looked everywhere for info with this particular problem and spent hours playing with the settings of ATI but cannot get color output.
  If someone else has had a similar problem or know of a fix that I have not been able to find? Or is it maybe the ATI drivers?

  The vga adapter is an ATI Mobility X 1600 512 MB hypermemory, linking the reverend newer drivers from the toshiba site (8.241.0.0).

  I have never tested S-video to RCA connection yet, but as far as I know the problem is the TV and no cell phone. The same situation can occur with standard S-video cable and S-video port on the TV must be activated. In this case, the color will be ok.

• Print issues with old photos scanned .jpeg prints too large & can't print in black & white

  I have a bunch of old photos & scanned articles of a scanner flat of maybe 10 years ago or not.   These are all .jpeg files.

  First of all, when I print on the Windows Live Photo Gallery, they are all print in color, no matter if I change my printer settings or if I go in settings in Windows Live Photo Gallery and deselect color.

  Secondly, not printing in black & white, they all print out extra large and therefore do not fit on an 8 1/2 x 11 pages.  All this elements analysed in years were roughly between 3 "x 5" until maybe 8 'x 10'. "  The fact is that they don't print as I would like.

  One last question, is that I have a newspaper article large .pdf format.  I printed it weeks and had no point of color above.  But I printed this on paper 11 "x 17".pdf file.  She printed on the entire page, but it was stopped at the bottom of each printed page, and I don't understand why.  Which certainly confused me.  Any suggestions?  My plan was to save the pages together to view the log what it was.  It's pages of the newspaper of 1886.

• Satellite A110-195: black & white photo on TV with s-video connection

  When I connect to my laptop to TV with S-video cable, I get black white picture on TV. I tried to solve the problem with little things, but it is still black & white photo on TV. I have tried to change all settings to pal/ntsc under graphics properties, change the S-video cables, install a new graphics driver...

  Beside that I have desktop computer with S-video out and it works with the same cables and even TV (it's color).
  I noticed that this problem is very often, not just with my laptop with many many others...

  Can someone tell me what I should try to do?

  As far as I know the S-video port on television must be enabled. If you have the same problem with most of the other laptops it's obviously this problem is TV and not PC.

  Check the TV settings and make sure that the correct port is enabled.

• Tecra A8-> S - VHS-> only black & white TV output and no sound

  I have a laptop Tecra A8 and want to view files DVD or video on TV.   Your ad made me really curious, and I did a few tests with my Tecra laptop. A few days ago I bought all together of cables and adapters Audio/video.

  For the test I have connected my Tecra to Sony BRAVA LCD TV. Just to be precise, I used cables and adapters follow:
  -10 m S-Video cable
  S-Video/http://www.nikomp.com.pl/opisy/AY000/AYVCW12N.jpg adapter cinch
  -SCART adapter http://www.lenexpo-electronics.com/e_italy/i/AdattatoreScartSVHS.jpg
  -Adapter audio http://ecommerce.intermediae.it/images/07628G.jpg
  - And of course 10 m cable audio http://www.elderly.com/images/accessories/ACC/CUAD102.jpg

  I tested it using two different options: TV only and extended desktop. I connected all possible combinations and I got the sound and colorful image.

  The important thing is that the image quality is not one that suits and depending on the resolution selected, but its was perfect. Please do not forget to adjust the sound volume on your laptop. If the sound is set on mute or min level you will not hear anything on TV.

  I don't know what TV you have, but I am 100% sure that there is something wrong with the settings of your TV. I can just recommend properly test you and do not forget that the right port on the TV is turned on.

• Picture on TV is black & white

  I have connected my Toshiba laptop to my TV on the TV out (S-Video) connection to SCART. I have now bought a new TV that is HD LCD, but when connecting, the screen is black & white.

  I have looked everywhere and tried all possible combinations, but obviously not the right that I can't solve.

  It must be something simple, as I could see the color in my previous TV, but now I see black & white in my new LCD TV.

  I think that there could be two possibilities.
  Either the TV settings are bad (s-video port settings) or pins cable SCART-s-video-<->don t match with port SCART on the TV set.

  I had a similar problem. On my TV, the picture was black and white and on my parents TV I was able to display in color.
  In my case, the cable was bad.

• Windows Vista does not load all the black white backlit display.

  I'm repairing computer of my aunt. It's a laptop gateway M-6320. Windows Vista. It loads the bios and goes through the MAIL. After the POST, it just goes to a screen backlit black white with no mouse and nothing happens.

  Tried to change the boot order to boot from the cd first and put the disc of windows 7 in to run a repair (I don't have a vista cd), but it does not always load. everything sounds like it turns on and works fine. the dvd sounds like it runs for a few seconds. I also tried to boot from usb with windows 7 there. still won't load what it is. I took out the battery tested cmos it is 2, 5V. I think it was. still nothing. I left the computer for a whole night. still nothing. I changed the hard drive even though it sounds like it's working. still nothing. I even tried a windows xp cd in the freak chance, it was a bad cd. and nothing is connected to the computer while I'm trying to start. He's not going for advanced options or to try safe mode.

  I also tried to put the memtest on USB, but it will not load anything from him even with usb as the first boot option. and I tried different usb drives also.

  I can't figure what's wrong... my only thought is that the bios is corrupted or the RAM is bad. Anyone have any ideas? Oh and the bios is Phoenix

• Satellite M70 - screen flickers and goes black, white or other

  I have a portable Satellite M70 and lately the screen becomes either black, white and a few other colors (no ghost image).

  The laptop seems good but I can t see anything so the only solution is to turn on and off. He didn't used to do this.
  I have updated the BIOS and the driver of the screen but always comes back.

  Have you tried an external monitor on the laptop?
  It would be important to make sure if it s a display or the motherboard problem.

  I had the same problem on my laptop satellite. I connected the laptop to my TV using an S-video cable and the image was just black & white.

  After reading here in the forum, I founded that I should try another cable. So I went to my local computer store and bought a high quality cable. I plugged the laptop once again on TV and everything was fine! :)

  And don t forget you check the settings of the TV in the display driver. If you have an NTSC TV, you will need to use this mode, otherwise the PAL mode.

  recently my LP2475 shows no more the OSD. When I tried to change the input source (DVI-> HDMI), I accidentally pushed an unknown button combo, which causes the display to start showing the sequence of R-G-B-black-white color.

  I saw your post about how you want to print in black and white, and I want to share some information with you.

  You will not be able to print from the printer without color cartridges installed. All the ink cartridges must be installed, even if you print in black ink only to printhead health purposes.

  Here is a guide with some helpful information: use of inkjet printers ink.
