  Maybe you've connected to some external devices to slow down the start-up procedure. You can also try to disable all the hardware components you n t need (modem. IrDA). Also check out which device is defined in a first start time (I hope that the HARD drive).

  I have installed SP2 on older models that your without any problem. Can you please explain what exactly happens when start the installation of SP2?

  If you want you can preinstall your device using the recovery media and then install SP2 immediately.

  I have a satellite 2450-201 my hard drive failed and I bought a new one.
  I went to do the installation of the OS that worked very well and cancelled before that I had to commit that I had to get out.

  I have attached my external, a drive with a boot in drive but no difference what I am doing wrong?

  Looks like you can't boot from the CD.
  The message insert system disk and press any key any appears because the laptop can not find any operating system and bootable CD.

  Try to insert an original Windows CD and try to press F12 immediately after that laptop was on the F12 key should activate the start on-screen menu.

  Check it!

  As far as I know that the unit has been delivered with the NVidia GeForce4 420Go 32 MB graphics card. This isn't a memory sheared graphics card.
  The card supports the own memory and not a function of memory sheared.
  In this case, you cannot change the value of memory.

  I formatted the hard drive on my Satellite 2450-201 and loaded Windows XP SP2. I loaded all the drivers from the disk utilities and everything works well except the USB ports work only in 1.1 instead of 2. There is a yellow exclamation point in device on USB controller Manager.   As far as I know that there is no driver for USB controller. When you install the chipset driver all USB ports should be recognized correctly. Exclamation mark in Device Manager is an indication that the device is not configured correctly. Try to remove the controller and reboot the device. After this check again in Device Manager.

  Because this laptop is an oldie, I doubt that you get these pieces from an online retailer
  However, google may provide you with some offers if you are looking for unique part numbers

  In any case, all the possible parts could be ordered in service partner as I said above, for me, it looks like an easier way to get these parts.

  The desktop Intel Pentium 4 CPU with Intel SpeedStep® technology and processors to run at one of the following speeds:

  2.4 GHz / 533 MHz
  2.53 GHz / 533 MHz
  2.66 GHz / 533 MHz
  2.8 GHz / 533 MHz

  Additional info:
  The processor incorporates a 12 KB of L1 cache and 512KB L2 cache memory memory.

  But as far as I knwn Toshiba does not support updates. You have no guarantee that it will work properly

  It of very strange that you re possible to see the plugin SD card. Some people suggested that this SD card supports only 256MB, 512 MB cards and more with no MMC support.

  I put t know if you have a format utility Toshiba SD card installed on the laptop, but on many notebooks of utility such Tosh is preinstalled and could be used for formatting of the card.

  According to some poster in this forum the Portege M400 utility format could handle 2 GB, but not sure about 4 GB SD cards.
  If possible, you can try to install this utility on your laptop, but you know you don't have much chance that it works.
