Interface issues Netgear Smartswitch to the Cisco 881 LAN port

Hi, we have 100 routers Cisco 881 in our network and they work all fine for the Linksys, 3Com, switches etc.  The problem we encountered is interfacing to switches from Netgear.  Netgear switches use automatic detection on their ports and it doesn't seem to be compatible with auto MDIX detection on the LAN Cisco 881 4 serial ports on the router 881 hub.  Someone has encountered this problem before?  A cross over cable solve the problem?  Since both executed MDIX autosensing they never synch - so probably a cross on would not make much.  I see this with all Netgear smartswitches.  If you put a small switch between the Netgear switch and router Cisco 881 everything works well except to pass traffic to port 9000.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

There should be no problem using crossover cable. You can try disabling autoMDI/MDIX (not auto mdix) on the cisco device and keep a straight cable but if it fails, use a crossover cable.

    I'm new in the world of the Cisco UCS server and am setting up Cisco UCS 5108 blade server. The server has two Cisco UCS 6324 interconnections fabric I did the initial Setup on and I try to configure the ports for the blades. Looking through the various articles and tutorials after setting global policies, I see the whole world establishment of uplink and server ports. What I read the uplink ports are plugged directly into the switches (I work with two cisco nexus switches), and server ports are used to connect to the chassis.

    I wonder once the configured ports server what exactly are supposed to connect to? I assumed they would also connect to the switch nexus with the uplink ports. However, every time I set up the server ports and plug them in, the switch doesn't seem to have flooded and we lose all connectivity. If I unplug, the connection is restored almost immediately.

    The current configuration, that I work with is two ports uplink on each fabric interconnect (4 2 total in each switch of nexus), two server ports on each (4 2 total, in every nexus switch). The only other element connected to the nexus switches is a SAINT who will be configured as a boot and storage of the UCS 5108.

    Looks like you have a Mini UCS (6324), with 4-port 10 GB (each FI/IOM) with port QSFP 40 GB that can provide network connectivity linking rising, or if configured as a server port, could be used to connect to a server in a rack compatible Cisco UCS, or connect to a 5108 additional with IOM 2204XP chassis.  The blades installed in your initial 5108 chassis 6324 FI/IOM of housing have internal connectivity to the FIs / IOM without the need to configure ports 'server'...

    Unified ports can also be configured as a FC ports for connectivity of FC switch upstream or directly related to CF Storage processors.

    After having watched the datasheet, let me know if you have any other questions, and I'll try to address them.

    You'll not need actually configure ports such as ports 'server' unless you connect servers in a rack.

    Please configure any ethernet SFP type connected to your switches nexus upstream as 'network' uplinks.  I guess that you don't plan on a disjoint config layer 2 (where each FI has several sets of uplinks will different devices upstream, or the same device with different VLANS allowed on each link).    If you are, we can have a separate thread about how you need to configure that.

  • Creating team to implement the dual ethernet LAN port?

    My new card mother ASRock Z87 Extreme9/ac features dual Ethernet LAN which is supposed to improve my internet connection.  This procedure requires my double Ethernet ports to be "associated".  I would be grateful if someone can tell me how to do this.  Unfortuantely, guide the user to ASRock is rather rare and Tweak Town forum, that they hold a candle to the contributors here.  Thank you.

  • Cisco 881 - Access Gateway VPN session

    I configured my Cisco 881 and finally has surpassed "thecan't see my network" issue IPSec VPN.

    I have a usecase where I need to access the gateway of the VPN Session.

    When I connect to the VPN using Cisco VPN Client 4.8 x, I do not return a default gateway on the VPN map. When I try to ping my IP from the LAN (10.20.30.1) bridge that does not work and I cannot access it with other tools.

    I'm sure it's an ACL question and it makes sense to hide the default gateway, but the big question is how to configure my router to see the gateway and access them from the VPN session?

    Please see my attached cleaned configuration.

    Network Info:

    • Internet Internet service provider gateway: 192.168.68.1
    • DNS: 192.168.2.1
    • Address WAN Cisco 881 at: 192.168.68.222
    • Address on Cisco 881 LAN: 10.20.30.1

  • Support for the 'grouping' Dual LAN

    I bought a router of WRT600N, which was far & away the router wireless dual band to use more expensive (& only) available at the time + 2 compatible Ultra Range Plus USB receivers.  Apparently Linsys/Cisco decided to abandon this model & more support - still firmware version 1.0 (from 2008).  OK, then repeat ceMarketing not high on their priorities.

    I recently upgraded my hardware in a platform Intel 1156 running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit completely.  The new motherboard, a Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5, has a 'dual LAN' support that allows "bundling" - potentially 2 GB support & self-switching if a port is not functional.  Apparently, it requires a router that has 'IEEE 802.3ad' capabilities.  As far as I can tell, this potentially interesting feature only is not supported, & the firmware upgrade failure suggests it will be never. - bought their "Network Magic" software Pro to add another $50.

    So the question is this: I believe - no double support LAN is built in & never will be--or is there a way to use this feature?  Suffice to say, if I paid about $420 for the router & USB receivers where if other router support him on the level of consumption, I will never consider a Linksys/Cisco product in this life.

    I would say the associations are no consumer router function. If you really need a connection of 2 Gbps to a single device to your network, I wonder what other device to communicate with this speed. It is not only another device because it would have only 1 GB/s unless you team two remaining ports as well. (Do not forget that desktop computers more level of consumption are not yet fast enough to offer or receive data at a rate even if they have a Gigabit ethernet port).

    If you have a set of other features which, in combination, require 2 Gb/s access server, then you will have again the same problem: it must connect somewhere which means you need a switch that must be connected to the two remaining LAN ports. But then, you might as well get a switch that supports reunification and enough ports and connect everything what he. Of course, an ethernet switch that supports the grouping is usually some 'smart' managed switch that cost easily more then your WRT600N.

    So I think that grouping will be never supported on any Linksys consumer device. If you then you must watch the Cisco Small Business series or better. They have some devices supporting 802. 1 q VLAN and therefore potentially also 802.3ad. Although even in this case I doubt because given the number of ports available on these devices is not really a lot of sense to support at least on a router 4 ports. Devices consumer and SOHO are not for internet connections of 1 Gbit/s or more. So you can only use the speed inside the LAN, but with 4 ports that would be difficult... So I would say that by their design these routers don't support grouping. If you need grouping within your LAN, get a managed switch...

  • Cisco 881 can ping internet but computers behind the router cannot

    I see ip nat inside and ip nat outside interfaces configured on. But I don't see any translation of address configured. This would preclude anything inside the unit to be able to access the Internet.

    I'm not able to upgrade IOS via mode Rommon in Cisco 881 router as FE 4 port is in router only L3 and rommon mode it supports of 0 - 3-way only.

    Hi charrier you do not give the ip address of the router interface he gets in rommon so it should not matter what interface, as long as your pc and peripherals, same subnet to push the tftpdnld - see doc

    How to distinguish the physical interface and logic (subinterface) interface to the Cisco router/Switch? Can you please clarify a formal way for this so have?

    A physical interface is numbered with the same name of the interface when printing on the physical port. For example "GigabitEthernet 0/1" corresponds to port 1 of the 0 module (or the base unit).

    A logical interface can be a subinterface on a routed port and will have a point ("". "") preceding the number sous-interface (ex. GigabitEthernet 0/1.1). It can also be a loop or a virtual interface (on a router this could also include interfaces like the tunnel and virtual tunnel or VTI types). A switch may also have a VLAN logical interfaces (e.g. interface vlan 1) which are used as layer 3 virtual interfaces of type.

    We replace our router Cisco 881 with a Cisco 2901 router.  If I backup the configuration of the 881 and restore it on the 2901, will there be problems? We just want our 2901 to work the same. Thank you.

    routers/switches etc. can with a base image which may allow only certain features the devices come with these out of the box so that they work.

    You can buy advanced ip services images or images of advanced security that will allow all the features work. For example, you cannot use BGP or ACB unless you have an advanced picture, but you can be allowed to use RIP and EIGRP stub.

    You can check what is running on your 881 with a license to show what it will tell you what is on

    It shows the VPN and active but there is no movement between the two and I do not know why...

    The additional ip route does not harm even if it is not needed. I love these additional routes that they can serve as a sort of "online documentation" when it is used with a keyword "name" extra at the end.

    Your NAT - ACL does not have the traffic. Just add the following:

    Thank you for your message. I had a glance on the configuration for you. You used a network as opposed to a wild card mask in your access control list for your NAT statement. This changed the field from the source to 0.0.0.0 automatically, which is going to be does not match your interior traffic and NAT'ing outside.
    To fix this, please run the following commands and test once more.

  • Several external IPs on Cisco 881

    Nice day

    I have a Cisco 881 router on which I am putting in place some NAT to allow external connections on some IP addresses replacing my ISP to connect to some ports on my internal servers.   Unfortunately, I'm not a network engineer and something seems to be non-tout to right with my setup.

    My ISP, I have IP 184.183.156.98, he was assigned to the WAN port on my router Cisco 881 (FastEthernet4), and I have this working properly.  Rules of Port forwarding I have in place that use this IP address work very well.   In addition, I have the small block of IPs 184.183.150.161 - 164.   None of the port forwarding rules put in place for these seem to work at all.

    If you need the full config file, please let me know.  This section below seems to be the relevant bits to my question, the entries in bold are the port forwarding rules that I think should work, but who do not seem to.

    From what you have posted your config looks very good. Are you sure that your ISP routes these IPs to your external interface?

    How do you test it?

  • Site to site VPN works only on Cisco 881

    I have 2 problems with a cisco 881. The first problem is that Vlan2 (192.168.5.xx) cannot access the internet on the outside. But I know that the router has internet, because I can ping the external ip address. The 2nd problem is that I have a set of site to another upward, but when I test the Site to site I get this error:

    destination of traffic of the tunnel must be channelled through the crypto map interface. The destination following (s) doesn't have a routing entry in the routing table
    192.168.2.0

    I copied the config form this router from another cisco 881 work, where everything works. The only difference is that this router needs a site to site vpn connection.

    My question is how I can get internet on vlan2 and who can I solve the connection to site to site.

    It seems that DNS has failed, because it is indeed happened to internet, but it does not work when internet DNS resolution.

    Go ahead and try to ping this 157.166.226.25, and it's on the browser http://157.166.226.25/, CNN.com. Let's try those. Also just in case where to configure a DNS SERVER on your router.

  • Cisco 881 Port forwarding

    Hello

    I'm trying for our DB setup port forwarding server.

    Transfer out to 172.16.10.100 for port 1433 is necessary.

    We use Cisco 881 TPG EFM and currently running config like below.

    I don't see anything wrong with NAT redirection in this configuration. What happens when you try what follows from the CLI of the router?
