Internet high speed & 1stgen AirportExpress

Recently I upgraded my internet speed to 150Mbps. using my (model A1264) 1stGen Airport Express, I am only able to get 50Mbps to my office. My iMac is at short range with my router. My internet is slow speed b/c my Express is outdated? A new Express will allow me received the speeds I have upgraded to or is a desperate need? On the 2nd floor, there is an another desktop or home that connects to the internet regularly (teenage son online games).

The 1 st Gen AirPort Express and 2nd Gen AirPort Express have only 100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports, so in theory, it would be the top speed that the Express could never offer.

To the extent where wireless is concerned, 50 - 60 Mbps would be what to expect from an AirPort Express which is provided a 100 Mbps connection, since he has never been known for its performance wireless... primarily because of a small simple antennas buried in the product.

A new AirPort Extreme has 1 000 Mbps Ethernet ports and the much higher speed wireless capability... (six wireless antennas all located towards the top at the top of the "tower")... which would be the product to try if you want to stay with a router from Apple.  At Apple, and you buy a 14 day no questions asked return guarantees, so if the product does not wait, it may be returned for credit or refund.

  • WiFi unstable and slow Internet high speed

    Hello world:

Recently, I am facing a problem of unstable wifi, slow speed of the internet of my macbook pro. I hope someone could help me with my problem.

    Symptom:

Internet mainly speed just unstable using a wifi connection. (no problem with wifi connection self and my wifi suddenly grave would not be)

    Example:

    • FaceTime with my friends and the connection would suddenly abandon or images & audio gets fuzzy.
    • Videos in online streaming and suddenly occurs buffering.
    • Download file of software update iPhone via iTunes, the speed is slow, he needed to take 2 h at the end and later on a window display "cannot download and check your internet connection".
    • Suddenly cannot open websites like site apple.com, google.com. Sometimes it will take more time to open Web sites.

    Hardware and software:

MacBook Pro mid-2009, OS X EL Capitan 10.11.5

    ISP: Cox, 50Mbps

    Modem & router: Netgear N450

    Test:

Turn off my wifi and connect my macbook pro with modem & router with cable, internet high speed is stable and fast. Internet speed download speed test result display is of around 60Mbps, download speed is around 8Mbps. And I tried streaming using the connection cable, there was no buffering.

I already tried the possible Solutions:

    • Restart the Macbook pro and restart Modem & router: will not work. I mean the internet will be very well at first, but later would be unstable again.
    • Reset Wireless Modem & router and change channels: useful, but not completely solve the problem. After you change the wireless channel, I tested my internet speed and the result showing 20-40Mbps (slower than 60mbps) speed download. Sometimes, the result will be like 6-8Mbps and sometimes it will be 60Mbps. If its unstable.
    • Wireless diagnosis: result indicates connection is good.
    • Called my ISP provider: they checked and said all right.

    Other Questions & details:

    • The internet is ok for most of the time. But when all of a sudden I can't open site or I can't download and streaming & FaceTime at normal speed, his frustration.
    • I thought it might be related to my hardware since its an old macbook pro. I can't run Apple hardware test because I don't have the installation disc more and my macbook pro is very old. Is it a third party software that can perform the test hardware on mac?
    • My wifi used to be very stable and I don't have to worry. Just for these last two weeks.

I really appreciate your time and help! Looking forward to any reply!

  • Internet high speed decreased after installing Windows 8.1

Dear guys, I installed Windows 8.1 on my laptop HP Pavilion G6 2241sa.

Everything is perfect, I downloaded all the drivers, internet works fine BUT I noticed that the speed of my broadband a few minutes down from 80%. My broadband speed is 30meg to bottom/30 megs.

Download speed is reduced to 2-3megs, but upload speed remains the same...

My Network (displayed in the Device Manager) card is AR9485 of Qualcom Atheros 802.11b/g/n wifi adapter.

When I uninstall, Windows automatically detects and installs back. Internet high speed returns to normal, but after a few minutes or maybe 10 12 minutes speed drops back down, until the speed remains unchanged... I removed it 10 times, even tried to reinstall all the ralink drivers for win 8 or Win8.1, but Windows says I have the perfect driver and that it does not install anything else. I removed just in case antivirus, does not work. I checked the speed on the other computer - no problem there, but on my laptop it persists. On Windows 7, I didn't have this problem, it started after Win 8.1.   If you could please help me fix. Thank you very much. Lives

OK, this is my last post on this topic because I think I solved the problem.

I thought it was Windows 8.1 to blame, but I finally installed Windows 7. Internet was excellent, but after I installed all the latest drivers of the site Web of AMD (Amd catalyst, video driver, etc.), down speed was limited to 2 to 2.5 Mbps.

I used the system restore and Internet working again. I decided to check again, and after that I installed again the pile of last softward to Amd, I had problem once again. Prolem is therefore up to the latest version of the AMD software. Do not know exacctly what part, perhaps things like AMD stream or similar. I also believe that this issue includes my modem that does not like to communicate with my computer that has these last things AMD.

Anyway, thanks for reading. My internet gives me full speed and I am happy with that. I just create a system restore point before updating to new drivers from the site Web of AMD. It's easy to go back. A big thanks to everyone! Lives

  • Internet high speed only is not what it should be

I have ThinkPad R60e, with Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet adapter. I guess I've always had a problem with internet high speed, but I did my best to ignore it until now. Any plan the supplier announced, I've always had a tenth only speed, download and send. I used to blame it on them, but now I changed the provider and the problem persists. So I researched what other users with the same plan, and they become quite at announced rates. So I guess there must be something wrong with the settings. Advertising plan up to 2 Mbps download and 200 kbps upload. What I get on practice is maximum of 200 kbps download and on average 20 Kbps upwards. Help, please! It is most annoying.

I forgot to add, I use Windows XP, the problem for most with Ethernet connection since I use it the most. But wireless seems to act in a similar way.

How will you measure your network speed.  Any chance that your bandwidth meter reports bytes/sec instead of bps?

Sorry, I had to ask (Zoltan ducks for cover...)

  • Comcast Internet high speed

Woman (who visits the sites of plants with lots of photos) growls a lot about slow Internet

We have phone Qwest & DSL in Vancouver WA, and speed ONLY we're currently offered is 1.5MBSec... faster than access remotely, but still not so great for photo pages intensive (or these forums I visit!)

Qwest "says" they're working on upgrades to the network and "someday" we will be offered from 7MBSec up to 20 or more... but not that I talked to Qwest nobody any idea when this will actually happen

So... without taking into account TV (we have DirecTV) or by phone (I'm not sure that their phone service will work with our fax) I told my wife to call Comcast and see how fast they CLAIM to offer and at what price

Thinking that Comcast Internet high speed will be the same everywhere... who has Comcast for Internet and how fast they are in practice?

Comcast speed vary according to the time of day (other users) or their system still offers their 'power '?

I don't think that saying to stop complaining to make good

    Alas, it never does.

  • WiFi Internet high speed why isn't the Comcast speed charge me for? How can I increase my speed subscribed?

Why my wifi internet speed usually only 6 Mbps when the service that I pay is supposed to be 20mbps high-speed through Comcast/Xfinity, and what I can do to fix this?

Any suggestions for alternative ISPS for Olympia, Wa this offer affordable quslity connection; s?

It is a question for Comcast/Xfinity.

  • Apple express slows internet high speed

I have an express Apple that I tried to use it to extend my wireless network.  When a computer connects to the network through the Apple Express my internet speed falls from 65mps to 10mps.  Why this is happening and how it stop?

Your 'main' router is an Apple product?  We ask, because the AirPort Express Terminal "spread" or "repeat" signal wireless from another router from Apple.  The Express "not run" the wireless to a third-party router.

  • Airport Extreme 7,7,7 drop connection and internet high speed

My Airport Extreme (6th generation) have had the serious problems of the internet, as said in the title I had problems with my internet connection, I checked if that was the problem of the modem to the beginning (D3.0 Ubee) which was provided by my Internet, Charter provider.

I've had Airport Extreme for almost a year to 2 years now and since then, I had no problem with my internet until 7.7.7 update came.

I updated my firmware and this is where my random internet connection problem started.

My current contract with the Charter are their 60 Mbps (download speed) and 4 Mbps (download speed), during the first days since I've updated 7.7.7 connections was fine and then my internet has started to decline since a means 50-60 Mbps (download speed) to 0.1 - 2 mb/s (download speed), my download speed has remained a constant 3-4 MB/s (download speed). I have tried and used Opendns several times, he really did nothing.

I tried to turn off both modem and Airport extreme for a couple of minutes and turn on their return, but he does nothing and just refers to an extremely slow speed.

The only way I found to fix my problem to get my internet to 0.1 - 2 mb/s (download speed) back to its original state, I find myself to be a restore return settings on the Airport Extreme with my Airport utility by default whenever the problem returns (which contributes to a certain degree as it gets my back up to 50 internet-60 MB/s) then he drops down again).

I wanted to restore to 7.7.6 or the latest version of previous firmware before 7.7.7 (not too sure what version of firmware, it was) but I can't find how to spend my Airport extreme to my Airport utility.

My question is what could I do to fix this problem if the decommissioning of my extreme (I need instructions with this too), change some settings, get rid of the * thing and get a new router, or am I stuck resetting to the parameter by default whenever she acts upward.

I use windows 10 for my laptop

    Thank you for your time

Unfortunately, the first question that you encountered is the AirPort for Windows utility has not been updated since Windows 7. In addition, it is not supported for use with the 802.11ac latest versions of airport base stations. Then downgrade to earlier versions of the firmware for base station can be difficult, unless you can get hold of a Mac or iOS device.

If you are ready to test Windows 10, here are the steps to do:

    • Open the AirPort for Windows utility.
    • Select the base and then station in the utility menu bar, select the access point > Download Firmware...
    • Click on the Download Version dialog box, where the current version of the firmware is listed.
    • You should now see a list of the firmware versions that are available.
    • Click on the one you want to get off at.
    • Choose either 'continue' to continue with the downgrade, OR click 'Cancel' If you decide not to do so.
    • If you choose to continue, allow the firmware to be downloaded, installed and the base station to turn.
  • Internet high speed slows down significantly when wifi turned on on my Mac.

When I run a speed test I get 29Mbps with my mac wifi disabled.

When I turn on wifi it drops to 5 Mbps.

    Any suggestions please?

Hold down the ALT or option key by clicking the Airport icon in the menu bar, what rate of transmission does show?

    also...

System Preferences > network, click on the little train at the bottom next to the + & - icons (unlock all first if it is locked), choose the value of Service order.

The interface that connects to the Internet should be moved to the top of the list.

  • ATC-710-ES61 Horrible Internet high speed - Win10 issue or driver network

Brand new TC-710.  Windows 10 pre installed.  Internet connection should be up to 5 MB/s and I only get just below 2/s.

Internet provider came out to check the modem (I'm on a wired connection, btw).  Their laptop connected to 5 Mbps but the desktop PC showed 1.8 its best test.  They had no solution, and my window to return is in place in the coming days.

Is this a problem of Windows 10 which can be easily solved, or are there problems with the netword card adapter / (what's his name).

I will get the owner (my father in another city) to turn off the automatic update, uninstall mcafee bloating and try the test of speed on chrome and firefox to make sure it isn't Windows Edge for some reason any.

Any other owners with this question or someone can suggest a fix or a way to test his modem/network adapter (sorry, I don't know what it's called).

Also, regarding the modem/adapter - that this PC comes with - I want it is driver/firmware or anything that is up to date and not the cause.

His old computer was a relic of Windows Vista, but the speed was always close to max it's so this thing with all his power etc is not good for him like that.

    Thank you

OK, let's wait for a response on the Realtek driver.

  • EA3500NP Internet high speed

I just upgraded to fibernet 60Mbps 3-4 Mbps Broadband internet speed.  I could see 60Mpbs whne speed connect my laptop Dell windows 8.1 to direct internet.  When you use wirelss speed is approximately 20Mbps only... what needs to be changed in the settings?

Check if the prioritization of media is enabled and if this is the case; that downstream bandwidth is set to 60mbps.

    Also keep in mind that:

    1. 2.4 Ghz is slow and long range
    2. 5 GHz is faster and short-range
    3. Width of the channel must be set to Auto
    4. To get above 54 Mbps Wireless you need to run the Protocol "N".
    5. I generally keep the 5 GHz, the value N only so newest capable device can enjoy speeds.

For the faster wireless, you will need to buy a new router to HQ.

  • EA6700 Cup internet high speed two

    Hello

I just sign up for Time Warner internet Turbo, which promises speeds of up to 20MBPS down and 2 Mbps upward.  I use a Motorola SB6141 modem and a Linksys EA6700 router.

When I test the speed using Speednet or Speakeasy speed test clean of TW, my downloads are constantly between 15-16 Mbit/s so that the rock download at speeds between 5-6 Mbps.  So although the download speeds are not advertised, my download speeds half are announced.

I removed the router from the system and directly connected to the modem and tested again several times. the upload speed has remained in the range of 5-6 Mbps, while the download speed went to 33-34MBPS constantly.

    So it's the router.

I reconnected the router and tried different configurations, the most fundamental of which was connecting to fixed my computer to a single port on the back of the router without other connections and wireless off.  By download speeds back to the range of 15-16 Mbit/s.

I also replaced the Cat5 cable between the modem and the router.  No change.

    Any ideas?

Was when you did the test directly connected to the Modem via Ethernet? If it was have you done the same test connected via Ethernet to the router?

If your tests for both were made via Ethernet then my tests with Linksys hardware is probably this QOS\Prioritization or the Parental control is activated.

For wireless WMM support must be enabled.

    I recommend disabling SimpleTap.

  • Slow, Internet high speed, if I connect to my desktop via router WRVS4400N PC

I bought a Cisco WRVS4400N. Which is highly recommended by my friend IT. In my office, I have a local telecommunications fiber-optic connection, which is 100 Mbps download and upload 40Mbps.

If I connect to the Internet taken directly into the computer, it flyes to 100 Mbps when I test on speedtest.net. When I connect to internet with the Cisco router and therefore farther from router on my desktop, it slows down to 25Mbps. I think there should be some sort of restriction inside the modem configuration. I don't know how to overcome it. Perhaps someone knows how to remove all the distracting security and other setings from inside my Cisco have the full flow of the internet.

    Thanks, Martin
