Interview question

SSD uses trim or garbage collection to maintain performance. I run my ReadyCache in RAID0 mode, so I can use 2 2 TB Samsung drives for a large storage drive and a 2.5 inch Samsung 640GO as just a normal OS the drive in the RAID BIOS. The question is; The same ReadyCache independently of the RAID or AHCI work? Should I use trim or garbage collection? I have another machine with two older OCZ summits in RAID0, and I just disconnect for a few hours each week and garbage collection keeps their performance very well.

I looked elsewhere on the web, but this is a new item and not much info is there yet.

Thank you!

The ready cache solution will work with a RAID array as long as it is not part of the range. The reader will use garbage with TRIM for the maintenance of the performance.

  • Typical interview question

    Hi all

    I have a typical interview question, I tried the solution, but did not find.

    1 Int that: scheduled backup RMAN is running normal and run DBA "shutdown" command for an interview without knowing about backup, will, RMAN work ends or gets killed?

    My answer: because it's a normal shutdown, it should wait until existing complete process and restrict new connections

    2 Int that: If there are two channels allocated for the backup of the db and a channel separate for archivelog, the rman job status is db backup is complete and has been asked to stop, he will start archivelog backup channel?

    Run {allocate channel d1 type disk;}

    allocate channel d2 type disk;

    backup database;

    output channel d1;

    output channel d2;

    allocate channel d3 type disk;

    ARCHIVELOG backup all;

    output channel d3;

    }

    I'm confused here, I tried to find the answer on the forum, as well as google, but did not find. Unfortunately I do not have a test machine to try this scenario myself. Therefore, ask your valuable contributions.

    Also let me know if my assumption is correct and to expect all connections stop normal and transactional (only users or RMAN, expdp, etc as well), I check this link, but it is not categorize connections http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e16604/ch_twelve042.htm

    Thank you very much in advance!

    AbbasDBA

    As the session already exists, rman allocates channels at the initial stage only, it reuses just channel placement phase by phase. So in this case it will not stop, it will continue with archives too

    1. the Virtual Machine is not manageable / connectable after successful vMotion. What is the reason?

    2. a company has 2 ESXi hosts, if one of the ESXi host fails, the virtual machines from the host failed ESXi does not move to the ESXi host direct. What could be the reasons.

    Hello

    To confirm:

    (1) If you have a group of ports that exist on both hosts, but has been configured incorrectly on a specific host, which could cause the problem. That's the problem with the standard switches and port groups because they are configured individually for each host, which leaves room for human error. For example, you may have the incorrect VLAN ID assigned group of ports or switch on that is it might have an uplink that is different from the previous host. It is also possible that the port group is may not be configured on the host at all, it is possible to be overridden.

    (2) you can select the behavior of the virtual machine in the event of an appearance of HA. If you select the cluster and view the HA of vSphere features, you have "Options for the Virtual Machine.  Here it is possible to change the priority of restart of VM (it may be disabled) and also how the virtual machine behaves if the host is isolated from the network. These parameters could possibly prevent the virtual machine to restart during failover HA.

    I hope that makes sense!

    Kind regards

  • Last Interview Questions 2013

    Hi all

    Please give me VMware vSphere 5 latest interview questions and answers.

    Kind regards

    Kamlesh.

    According to me.

    When you talk about vSphere. It can have almost all areas: computing, network, storage, installation... etc... You need to through with the fundamentals of all of these areas.

    Just go through secure Channel 5 blueprint and prepare compared to the time you have. vSphere is large enough to learn over the years.

    Ref:http://mylearn.vmware.com/lcms/web/portals/certification/VCP_Blueprints/VCP5-DCV-VCP510-Exam-Blueprint-v3_1.pdf

    Select the themes that interest you by blue print top. Note: The Blue print is very detailed, so you must prioritize well and prepare.

    If you need an interview as an administrator, they can expect little more than a few basic principles. If its for Dev or QA, they can expect some basics from the point of view of vSphere.

    Apart from this, you must prepare your resume very well. 80% questions comes to your curriculum vitae as based on your CV, only you are pre-selected.

    Hope this will help prepare.

    Hi I have knowledge but I don't know what kind of questions to ask in.

    This is the point of an interview, to test what knowledge you have, not what responses you tried to learn in advance.

    There is no interest to get you a job based on the responses, you learned that if you don't have the knowledge and the understanding that you will end up by given the work you do not know how.

    Go to the interview and answer all questions honestly you will be asked.

    It is better to say you don't know the answer, but demonstrate that you have an idea where you'd look to know, than to pretend, you know the answer when you have not, in which case you will be often caught in any case that the interviewer can dig to find out how well you understand the answer you gave (as an interviewer, it's what I would do).

    I know it's the open question but how should I tell them in a nuttshell.

    Thank you

    Matt

    I am Java programmer, trying to gear to Oracle DB, attended a few Interview.

    So far in the Interview they ask this question "How do troubleshoot you if Oracle database is not running / does not start?

    Since I have no experience in real time.

    I would say that I'll go and do a TNSPING, check the Listerner.ora entries. If Windows I will tell me that I'll check Services.

    but so far, it seems that they are not happy with my answer.

    So I ask each of you to tell me how I should answer.

    I know it's the open question but how should I tell them in a nuttshell.

    Well - until now I disagree with ALL of the other answers!

    IMHO the FIRST STEP in ANY troubleshooting task is to CONFIRM that the problem really exists.

    The KEY part of this confirmation is to get ALL the information available to the person reporting the issue. In an interview which is SIMPLE - the person reporting the issue is sitting right in front of you. So instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off you should begin by asking a few key questions:

    1. you said that the data is not running

    a. IS IT supposed TO BE running - that would be my VERY FIRST question!

    b. How do you know this? A user did report it to you? Have you tried to use yourself?

    c. How do confirm you the DB was down? Have what measures you taken?

    d. What do you mean by DOWN? Stone cold dead? Running but not accessible to business users? Running but inaccessible to anyone including DBA?

    e. what other information you have about the problem? Have you checked the log of alerts? When was the last time it was running normally? What could have happened since then to bring it down? There were backups or scheduled maintenance tasks?

    2. you said that it does not start

    a. How do you know this?

    b. did you try to start it yourself?

    c. how the restart was attempted? how much? where (what machine)?

    d. what command they use? They use 'EM? Or a console?

    (e) what has been the result? What has been the response on the console (if the console has been used) what has been the result if EM has been used?

    Your answer to that seemingly simple question should have been to about a dozen questions of your own like I did just above. There is NOTHING to do, IMHO, before getting THE news AND ALL of the one who reports the problem - that includes interviewers.

    Disappoint my more great in interviews is when otherwise intelligent people are so reluctant to ask questions to get the information they need to understand and confirm the question/problem.

    The above is why I "disagreed" with the other responses made so far. Certainly, the alerts log is important and must be checked. But it's a lot easier knowing what the person concerned (interviewer) know asking them just before starting to run. As far as we know that the interviewer was ready to tell you what the alert log say if you just ask.

    My rule #1 in an interview: ASK QUESTIONS!

    Anyone who is not asking questions in my interviews gets demerits. I can train someone how to solve problems and perform DBA tasks. But I found it almost IMPOSSIBLE to tell when they don't know something if they don't ask questions or tell me "I don't know".

    If someone just asking these questions above this would indicate to me that they know how to FIND the information they need, even if they don't know yet how to use this information.

  • difficult interview question

    Hello world

    I have a question that was asked in an interview, and I didn't know how to respond.  Here's the question:

    < pre >

    assuming today ' today the users run query in oracle and everything is running fast.  the user's home and the next day they ran same or similar request and the queires take time to run.

    What can be the problem?

    < / pre >

    I tried to respond to data volume can be change, his stats are out-of-date, variation on one of the parameters in the init file and so on.  the interviewer told me that nothing has changed at all.

    the database is the same since yesterday and nobody don't touch.  He then followed

    < pre >

    Assume that all members of society went to vacation and before they log off all their requests turned quickly. When they log off, noone touch the database.  When they came back and relaunched queries.

    they were running slow.  What could be the problem?

    < / pre >

    I could not answer.  everyone wants to give ideas on that?

    the interviewer told me that nothing has changed at all.

    the database is the same since yesterday and nobody don't touch.  He then followed

    Sorry - but in today's world, it's just NOT possible that "nothing has changed at all".

    Something has changed, or queries may run the same as before.

    You must determine what has changed and HOW it has changed. The possibilities that you have listed are appropriate.

    Oracle is ALWAYS doing something, and most systems have jobs that automatically generate stats from one day to the next. As others have suggested even a SELECT query will change things:

    1 delay block drain plug may occur generating changes and UNDO/REDO

    2. the buffer cache can rinse at least partially when the new blocks are brought

    3 If ANY user running DML (insertions, changes, deletions) then all sorts of things are going to change both in memory and on the same whether disc DML is NEVER committed.

    The FIRST thing I wonder so ANY statement made by a PERSON who "nothing at all".

    Unless the interviewer is coming with more information on what the system was doing really, how it was configured, what types of statements users were execution, etc. that I held by original suggestions.
