Invalid product key, left my computer with a black screen and a cursor of the mouse on the boot.
A few days ago, I tried to upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) to Windows 10 using the free update. Installation hung at 84% for 2 hours, then restarted, was unable to recover the installation and then could not get back to Win 7. This left us with a black screen and a cursor of the mouse on the boot. The computer would remain in this State for about 10 minutes and then reboot and repeat.
Fortunately, or so I thought, I had a few CD Windows installation backup from the back to the era of digital river. So I thought I'd install fresh on my empty partition, copy my files and data, and then format the partition with the installation broken on.
I did, but now he tells me that my product key is not valid and cannot be activated. The product key came on a real label on the PC when we bought it.
The key is for X 16-96072. I installed X 17-58997 (Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 with SP1 (u)). I don't know what is the problem with the key? Should I have installed without the (u)?
One key 25 digits grouped in 5 sequences of 5 characters not X 17-58997.

Original title: replay Vista operating system
What I would like to know, is my computer only has a black screen and a cursor, there is no menu start, so I can stop and start a new installation of windows vista? If anyone can help please. I thank you very much for your time and have a fantastic day. Shawn
Hello
What changes have been made on your machine for there to be a black screen with a cursor?
Rather than doing a clean install of your operating system, I suggest you do the following.
Step 1:
Remove all external devices (printer, USB flash drive), as appropriate, and start your computer again and check.
Step 2:
If this is little help, start your machine in safe mode and check if it starts on the desktop.

Computer has a black screen and does not show the normal startup logo and more
The computer that I use usually works well, until the next day, the day that I used it, ruined everything. My computer shows not the Windows 7 logo normal at startup, but instead, a bar with green lines in movement like the ones you see in older versions (Windows Vista), but now only the bar and did no logo in it and after starting does not display. It shows a completely black screen, but it makes a noise like the sound when she welcomes you to Windows 7. I tried safe mode and disabled the NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 graphics card and the screen works, but he is stuck at 800 x 600. In addition, the start screen is always the bar. How can I fix it? (Tried updating the gpu but still displayed black screen)

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

Download the Vista software from the link above.
After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

I have a Compaq PC (with pre-installed software) Ms XP Home installation disc has been provided, no recovery disk was created by the former owner. (My son). It hangs when booting with a blank screen; all the time he would do it has auto logon.
I have a MS XP Home Upgrade disk w/SP2, I am using to fix this PC. I had already used 'Keyfinder' to save the product key when the PC worked. The PC also has a Microsoft product key sticker on your box. I get an error msg "Invalid Key" of these TWO product keys.

How can I start/correct this PC? Barry (retiredbee)The key that is on the case is specific to the version of winxp from compaq.
The key finder will find the volume license key used when compaq has created the image, it is not valid to reinstall everything. You can install only clean using your disc upgrade, as well as its key, and for that you need a release candidate of victory to upgrade

Hello
It seems that something was tangled up in your Windows installation and the computer can no longer start t.
In this case, you have only one option and that s reinstalling Windows. Therefore, you can take the (better) Toshiba Recovery disk or a Microsoft Windows XP disk. It will restore factory settings and your computer is read to use again.

As indicated in the title, I bought a ti 750 gtx.
N750Ti-2GD5/OC
The machine had a 620 in gt and works very well with it in. When I install the ti 750 gtx, however, the boot system hangs on a black screen with cursor / underscores and a single beep.
The system is a h8 1203, with a power of 460.
I also have a gts 250, that also installs and works fine. Ive read a little, and there is a problem with this map and the hp system? something about the type of bios? I couldn't quite follow what has been said.
Hello
If you upgrade to Windows 8 (UEFI-mode Setup) and apply the BIOS posted updated so you should be able to work to the video card.
Don't forget to create a set of external support of HP recovery before installing a new operating system.

Start the computer to black screen and the computer runs hot
original title: sick Vista laptop
My daughter portable computer began acting strangely very yesterday.
Once connected, I get a black screen and a cursor. The system seems to work at full speed, because I can hear the fan, and it runs very hot. No matter how long it sits, the desktop does not appear.
I can use Ctrl-alt-del to display the Task Manager. The list of processes is limited to the process of the current user, and none of them use important CPU. If I click on 'See the process for all users', taskmanager freezes and I have to disconnect to get rid of him.
Using the Task Manager, I can kill the process Explorer and then start it again, date at which I get my desktop. However, it is still running hot and noisy. With the help of SysInternals ProcessExplorer, there is no process using any important CPU. Most of the time CPU is reported as inactive.
I don't know what to think. A boot loader took over the system? A hardware problem? OS corrupted files?
Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.
