    @Roygeorges ,

Hello again and thanks for posting back.

First of all, here is a link to your systems support page.

Computers portable multimedia HP Pavilion dv7-1103ef - Software & Drivers

Now that you are running a Vista machine.  In other words, it has been chugging along for awhile now.

First thing you want to do is make a backup of all your data.  Music, Photos, Documents and so on.

Then do a full restore of the system.  The reason is that your computer is that the data on it are displaced, written and erased many times leave stains on your hard drive that are sales (magnetic shadows of old data).  Thus, your operating system becomes a mess.

Perform a recovery of the system (Windows Vista) HP

You should actually do this once a year to keep your system clean and happy.  The computer is no different from any other machine.  As you want to change the oil and clean the car from time to time.  Your laptop must be maintained.

There is software out there on the market, you can buy that will help you to clean your operating system and maintain your system registry database.  All of this helps.  Especially if you don't know what to look for and what places on your OS with these unnecessary files and the dust bunnies tend to hang out and start causing problems within the system.

If you do not have the recovery partition or if you are not able to access for some reason this link will be of great help.

Get a HP USB recovery or HP recovery disc drive

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

  • Update the BIOS and system health report question

I have two questions to ask you.

    1. I just bought a Quad DV6T-7000 a month ago. I'm unable to create a report of health system through the control panel > performance & information > advanced tools > generate system health report.  I get an error saying "cannot run" with no other information. It apparently came from HP in this way. Something has been corrupted? I have configured my laptop the way I like it and have installed all programs and applications of my previous laptop, so I hope that I don't need to do an installation of windows 7 to fix this. It is not really important. But it should work.

2 HP Support Assistant automatically installs updates to bios, or is it something that has to be done manually? I am currently set to auto critical or important updates. There is an update of the bios (f.22 I think) available for my Pavilion DV6T - 7000 Quad Edition, however, I am wary to update my bios given the many problems that people have after doing an update their bios.  So far, HP support Assistant has not notified me of the update and I have problems with the problems it addresses. Should I be worried?

Thank you, appreciate your making this feature expert day!

The files of your operating system will be inspected and the files that are supposed to be corrupted or damaged will be replaced with fresh copies of the repository own Windows file.  If this does not resolve the problem, then I suggest that you run Windows update. There may be an update that resolves this problem

Does your laptop have a UEFI environment.  This in fact safe update the BIOS if you decide to do.

You can set the HP Support Assistant to install updates or to notify you when updates are available.

I recommend that you do not set automatically update anything. My preference is that the Windows operating system and the laptop / desktop only doing what I want to do and when I want them to... That way I don't get surprises not unexpected and mysterious death blue screens or black screens.

  • Modified files HP Health Check and WARNING event ID 11 Wininit Event Viewer

    Desktop HP Pavilion p6 - 2220t - Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit Service Pack 1 - Microsoft Security Essentials - Windows Firewall

I got this computer in December 2012.

I started getting the following warning in the event viewer on the 16/09/2014:

    Log name: System

    Source: Microsoft-Windows-Wininit

    Date: 16/09/2014 14:37:12

    Event ID: 11

    Task category: no

    Level: WARNING

    Keywords:

    User: SYSTEM

    Computer: PC - 1

    Description:

Custom dynamic link libraries are loaded for each application. The system administrator should review the list of libraries to ensure that they are linked to trusted applications.

    The event XML:

    11

    0

    *****

Just to be sure, I ran a full scan with Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware (free version) and Microsoft Security Essentials. All had own scans with no problems found.

    *****

Some sites on the internet suggest to get rid of this warning by setting these two keys, the default value 0, but they already are.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AppInit_DLLs HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AppInit_DLL

There is nothing in the 'Data' column for these two registry keys. And there is no list of DLLS.  The string in the warning count is 0, so I don't really know what is the cause.

    *****

I searched my drive C: for what any change to the date and time that this warning for the first time. All have been linked to HP Health Check.

There are two components in C:\Program Files (86) \Hewlet-Packard\HP Health Check\Active Check\objects that have been modified on 16/09/2014 05:31. One was named issuelist.xml and the other XML file Config.INI.

    There are 494 items modified on 16/09/2014 14:19, all the in C:\Program Files (86) \Hewlet-Packard\HP Health Check\Guid

The first Wininit WARNING event ID 11 logged at 16/09/2014 14:37:12. And it records now whenever I start my computer.

    *****

These changes do not come with HP Support Assistant. Was not asked to download and install updates.  These files have been changed without my knowledge.  I did know about this until I picked up everything that has changed which could hold account of the warning I get now.

    *****

Anyone know how to stop this warning event ID 11 registered Wininit whenever I start my computer? Someone else had changes in the HP health check recently?  Has anyone else noticed this warning of Wininit event ID 11 their recent event viewer?

Thanks for any help and information,

    Department of public works

    Old_geekster,

I know that this is your best advice but I really don't want to go there. Up is simple, get the programs and files on the computer; not so much.  And then there of all the bloatware to get rid again.

Several sites indicate that this is not a problem, even if there is a list of libraries, as it has to do with the code and can be ignored as long as are listed in the DLL acknowledged regarding confidence of applications.

At the end of my Wininit he says the warning message string is 0 and it lists all the libraries. One source suggests that it is a false alarm since no DLL is actually loaded.

I looked for someone who had a warning Wininit where string = 0 and no list. I found this conversation: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/custom-dynamic-link-libraries-are-being-loaded-for/80497a24-1b98-4705-93cc-32d67b5947d1

On the second page, there is this suggestion of No.Compromise on May 24, 2010:

"In the registry, change the value from HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\LoadAppInit_DLLs from 1 to 0, restart and check if the event in question is still connected."

(Also would check if HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\LoadAppInit_DLLs has been set to 1 and if so, change it to 0).

Note the value to check is LoadAppInit_DLLs of type REG_DWORD, rather than LoadAppInit_DLLs of type REG_SZ. »

    May 25, 2010, he adds:

"For the moment, it won't affect anything else, if AppInit_Dlls is empty.  LoadAppInit_Dlls is an indicator that tells Windows to "respect" (load the dll in the AppInint_DLLs) the AppInit_DLLs value.

Older, pre-Vista apps will not know to LoadAppInit_DLLs a value of 1, so the dll they would add to this place could not be loaded.  It can be considered a good thing, because it is a quick way to get the (good and bad) code loaded into the address space of each loaded process user32.dll (practically everything), which deals with the AppInit_DLLs.

New apps are common sense for LoadAppInit_DLLs setting so they put 1 and also add components to AppInit_DLLs.

In your case, it seems that some program added DLLS to AppInit_DLLs, LoadAppInit_DLLs set to 1, and then the dll have been removed (manually? program cleaning? uninstall program?) AppInit_DLLs, but LoadAppInit_DLLs was restored to the default of 0 (or not being is not present at all).

"So, our exploration indicates that Windows based the decision to record the event on"Custom Dynamic Link Libraries loading for all applications"for the LoadAppInit_DLLs parameter, regardless of the content of the AppInit_DLLs value" (it was marked as a solution but the instructions are in the post on May 24, 2010).

I did this and the warning of Wininit disappeared.

    It worked after I changed HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\LoadAppInit_DLLs, but I went ahead and changed HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\LoadAppInit_DLLs .

I never changed anything in the registry before; big no no. But this person instructions and reasoning were clear enough even I could understand and it worked.

    Thank you

  • HP vs HP Health Check Update

    Hello

My HP dv6700, running 64-bit Vista Ultimate SP2 has the HP and pre-installed HP Health Check update time.  I accepted the updated offers for these, running versions are:

    Updated HP 4.000.012.001

    HP Health Check version 3.1.9.1

These seem to make very similar tasks?  HP update rarely offers updates and currently offers me an update Realtek High Definition Audio System Software, which is obsolete (R1.62).

HP Health Check offered a variety of updates, including an update of the BIOS and update Realtek above R1.85.  It's a bit "chatty", but offers an option for a notification message to reject or to update and never again offer.

Will I lose something useful if I uninstall the update from HP?

    Thank you

    Dewayne Ferris

No, it's the same, but as you have noticed HP Health Check is a little chloe. That's why you get a different version of the software on the two programs.

I'll tell you one more thing for most user, it is not recommended to use.

Yes.  You download and run the file, it will create an ISO bootable, you can record and burn yourself or burn directly to CD.

  • HP health check

Why HP Health Check brought me here?

A regular automatic descent of the HP health check generated the message, "HP Health Check identified one or more items requiring action."

The only item listed has the category "Updates" and the description "visit the HP Support Forum".

Although the existence of these forums is interesting and can be useful for me in the future, I see no "Updates" here.  Also, I see nothing "response".  What is going on?  If HP wants to provide an informational message informing me of this site, why the category is not listed as "informational".  There is no need to make me think that there is something wrong with my system or my system may be vulnerable.

Windows Update gives you rarely drivers, but all the critical updates are really critical, when they set security questions and performance inside windows, and there is no one else able to set these except microsoft, via windows/microsoft update (update of microsoft being the cotyledon also providing updates for office and other microsoft - recommended products).

There are 2 steps to follow in order to stay up to date with drivers when having a hp laptop.

1 download page check youre laptop (www.hp.com > support & drivers > download drivers and software (and firmware) > type in your model > go > choose your operating system). Here the important updates are bios, quick launch buttons, hp protect tools (for professional laptops), firmwares, audio drivers (unfortunately changed by hp - using the latest almost always requires you to mod those generic for yourself, which is quite complicated) etc.

    2. recognize that hp is too late by offering updates for drivers and get these other places, mainly manufacturers their web sites as intel (chipset, wifi, ethernet, graphics etc drivers). Some drivers offered by HP are best to be avoided completely, as pilots mobile gpu (graphics card). Get the latest from intel, ati or nvidia (get that your gpu is of) and mod them accordingly (http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php for ati, http://www.driverheaven.net/nvmodtool.php for nvidia)

  • HP health check stops working

I noticed recently that every time I open my laptop it woul flash a message saying 'HP Health Check System has stopped working' and that something is done to stop it. So, I tried clicking on the programs HP health check, and he would do the same thing without even launch health check. What can I do?

In addition, there are a CEEmet or something like that stop working, showing the same message as that of the HP health check. I have no idea what it is, but I know it's something important.

    Help please? I'm so worried.

First of all, you don't have to worry about the error message. He said that it does not does not mean that your computer will fail. There is no software that is no problem be ready to cope and make sure that you did your backups at regular intervals.

    Now to the solution:

Check if your computer has 'Health check' installed in "Programs and features" in the Panel. If there is remove it and then download the HP Health Check download and install it. If you don't find it in "Programs and features" just download the file and install it.
