Iomega eGo BlackBelt Portable Jet Black hard drive 1 TB external

I have two questions:

(1) how can I know 100% that my iomega blackbelt is mac only, other than the possibility of my windows being a little stupid?
(2) if it is mac only, is there a way to make windows compatible too?

THANKS for your time!

Hello

I suggest you contact the manufacture of the product and check.

  • Backup hard drives internal and external to separate the partitions on an external drive of a second... ?

I want to back up an internal hard drive (let's call it 'A') and (B) external drive using Time Machine. Both are 1 TB in size, so I bought a 2 TB external drive and created two partitions (C and D) on this subject, only to receive each backup. So:

    A = internal hard drive

B = external drive (for "overflow" files)

C = partition to external drive for backups of A

D = partition to external drive for backups of B

My question is, can I set up Time Machine so that A back up C, every time the 2 TB drive is connected, and B backup up to D whenever the two external drives are connected? I thought it would be possible, but at the opening of the Time Machine preferences and selecting D for the first time I get a message saying:

"You want to stop backup up to 'C' and use"D"instead or back up at the same time?

If you use the two, Time Machine will take turns backup up to "C" and "D". »

I wonder if it would just be easier to return to a single partition on the hard disk of 2 TB and have the time machine to perform a backup of everything, that is, both A and B?

Last question: I'm doing this to improve Yosemite to El Capitan. the operating system affect what I'm trying to get time Machine to do?

    Thank you!

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support

I have a non-partitioned device TM backup of your data and your OS disk at once

If in case you partition and drive "B" needs more than what is on the partition and drive 'A' don't you avoid warning.

update of the OS is fine, as it will give an output back to a previous TM operating system where you need it, but it is compatible across versions.

  • PS Portable CS6 - which hard drive to choose?

I'll order a laptop to work very quickly. I'll need a laptop for travel and my orders the Dell company. Essentially, here's my build so far (see below). I read many forums and articles on hard drive configurations. But I am limited to a laptop so I need to prioritize! Please offer some advice on my build so far, harder and any room for improvement, or even if I might have exaggerated (is it possible? haha). I get an internal hard drive and I want to choose the best for my application. I work with files for printing. I think that up to 48 "x 64" x 600 dpi of the multiple layers. I go to the maximum RAM to reduce the need to drive to work. In addition, when it is docked, I'll have double 22 "monitors.

    Thoughts? Thank you very much!

Double the performance already super fast SSD storage is intoxicating substance.  Once you use a system where the stuff that used to take seconds now is instant, it is hard to believe that you never set up with less.

If you feel you can hold a total of 512 GB of storage and to keep your master files in an external drive or a network location, then the RAID 0, 2 x 256GB option can be a good.

Even a single internal SSD flash drive will be faster than any HARD drive equipped system, you used by far.

So, it comes down to whether you prefer more flexibility with the Mini PCI card slot or more speed.

  • Satellite M70: HARD drive not recognized external - various XP error messages

    Hi all

I have a Satellite M70 and I have a Western Digital external hard drive.
Initially, it worked great, I was able to put my large collection of music, etc. on it and run a computer off to save space on my integrated HD.

But recently I had problems with XP not recognizing HD or be able to write in it. It appears in my computer, then disappear, often randomly when I write new files to it.
I reformatted the hard drive to NTFS as it ran originally as FAT32.

I updated my BIOS as well, but I'm out of ideas.

Anyone else had similar problems with XP?

    Thank you

  • How to extract the EFS certificate to old hard drive as an external drive

I got a Windows XP Professional computer on which I had encrypted files using EFS. Now, I have a new computer, Windows 7 Home Premium, but I did not export the old WinXP machine EFS certificates/keys. I can't start the old machine again because I had to open a lot of "stuff" to remove the hard drive. Now I have the physical hard disk from my old machine in a HARD drive enclosure, and it is connected to the new Windows 7 machine via a USB port, that is, as an external hard drive.

My question is: can I extract my the old hard drive Windows XP EFS certificates/keys if it is connected as an external hard drive? Or I have to start my new computer in Windows XP with the old hard drive, then export the certificates by using the normal procedure?

    Thank you...

If your old rained hard drive works fine on the new machine, then you can make use of EFS certificates/keys

  • To install the new eSATA / SATA to USB 2.0 hard drive in an external enclosure but the computer does not recognize the drive in disk management

I have an old computer with installed Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and 3.  I bought a new hard drive and also a new external hard drive for her case.  I have correctly installed the hard drive inside the enclosure, and I think that I have installed correctly (in the motherboard SATA port) eSATA port, according to the manufacturer's instructions.  I plugged everything... first eSATA, then power and power switch.  I restarted the computer, and I chose to analyze disks in disk management.  However, the new drive is not recognized.  The SATA port on the motherboard could not work or did I buy the bad, perhaps, hard drive enclosure for my system?  Or something related to the software?  Thank you.

    Hi Donnadream,

Connect the hard drive to another port and check if that makes a difference

Step 1: You can follow the steps mentioned in the article below, which deals with a similar question

A computer that is running Windows XP cannot detect a USB, an Apple iPod flash drive or an external hard disk drive

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/925196

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756/

Step 2: Download and install the latest drivers from the chipset of the computer or the manufacturer of the motherboard and check

Step 3: Hard disk can be turned off in the BIOS; You may want to enable

Important: Change BIOS (Basic input output system) /semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

If the problem persists, it is a hardware problem, contact the manufacturer of the hard drive for a more specialized help

  • The hard drive on an external drive without virus imagery etc.

If I do a system image on an external hard drive before you perform a cleanup of the system, any malware virus etc. will load in the image. In addition, if a third party application is required to make the image, all of the recommendations.

    Hello BrianRobertson,

If you already have a virus on your system, then it will be reported in an image. Unfortunately, once you have a virus, you have. You must get rid of it before you attempt to create a system image.

With respect to the third-party imaging software I recommend EaseUS Todo Backup Workstation. This is the application that I use. This particular application is not free, so you'll have to participate with little money. However, EaseUS proceed with a free backup application that you can download here: http://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/ it's called EaseUS Todo Backup free.
