  For added convenience, app Notifications have a setting that allows them to be seen and interacted with on your lock screen. It is a setting entirely optional and can be disabled for individual applications under settings > Notifications. Tap the application that you want to adjust (in your case, Messages) and toggle the "Show on lock screen" switch in the off position. You can still receive alert sounds when a message arrives through to be notified, you have received one, but it will not appear on your lock screen. To view, unlock your iPhone and go directly to the Messages app.

  If you're wondering how to install iOS 10, go to settings on your iPhone. Then click on general, then software update. Wait to check out the update, and then click Download and install at the bottom of the iOS 10 pop up.

  The best way to save battery life is to go into the settings and turn off Apps Refresh

  I now get 3 / 4 hours of battery life more.

  Hi all

  Having some problems with the SMS and iMessage notification since the upgrade to iOS 10. The problem is that sometimes there is no noise or vibration or anything like that when I get a message. I will just have to pick up the phone and there is a banner on the lock screen. And until someone asks, it isn't that I was away from the phone, or I didn't hear it go off... there was just no notification. It's as if the phone was in DND (which it was not).

  The other thing is, I NEVER receive a notification when I am sent an iMessage from a sender that is the only email address (like an iPad wifi only). In this situation, my phone never plays a sound never vibrates... you open the lock screen, but there's a new banner of message sitting there... as I said before - just as the phone is in DND... which is not.

  This problem happens on mine and my wife's phone. For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

  Here is an update. I think I can find a solution to the problem. I used to have my "send and receive" in the messages app implemented with my phone number and checked e-mail address. I have deselected the e-mail address and have now received a notifcation for every message I've received so far. The sample size is a bit small at the moment but before this change, it is 50-50 at best.

  I recently updated to IOS 9.3 and OS x 10.11.4. Since these updates, I had difficulties to send SMS.  iMessages forward vigorously. But I often get errors failure-to-send three and four times in a row when trying to send an SMS message longer than one short sentence.   I have friends with non-Apple devices I have text frequently. Before the latest updates, my SMS messages would pass them quickly. Not now.  I don't know how to make Apple aware of this situation. I sent a direct message to @AppleSupport on Twitter. Not sure how that will be effective.
