iPADs repeat network WPA2 Enterprise authentication

Hi all

I have the following problem with our network wireless company. We are able to connect to our network wireless with iPad and iPhone successfully.

But with the iPad when you leave the office and come back a few hours later he asks for to re-authenticate to having to type your user name and password again. But with the iPhone it will automatically reconnect to the wireless network. Is there a difference between the iPad and the iPhone on that are used for example ms-chapV2 or PEAP authentication methods?

If you get out of the office for about 20 minutes and then the IPADS don't ask no username and password it auto connects, it would seem that there is a time limit, or something.

We use the controller wireless AP and cisco with radius server 2012R Server

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Unit requests access to the network when a user selects an available wireless network or the device detects a network set up previously. 2 when the access point receives the request, it forwards the request to the RADIUS authentication for the authentication server. 3 the RADIUS server uses directory services to validate the user account. 4 once the user is authenticated, the access point provides access network with policies and permissions, as shown by the RADIUS server

    tblack1970,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

This should be something that your wireless adapter on your computer supports, or does not work.  It is not a feature of Vista, but the network hardware.  When your wireless adapter on your computer sees the router which has the active Protocol, it must ask the key and once offers you the key, it needs to connect.  If you do not see this option for your network card, then you should contact the manufacturer.

What are the different wireless network security methods?

If you plan to have a wireless network, you must configure the only people that can access your choice. Here are a few options for the security of wireless networks.

Wi - Fi Protected Access (WPA)
WPA encrypts information and it checks to make sure that the network security key has not been modified. WPA also authenticates users to ensure that only authorized individuals can access the network.

There are two types of WPA authentication: WPA and WPA2. WPA is designed to work with all wireless network cards, but it might not work with the older routers or access points. WPA2 is more secure than WPA, but it will not work with some older network cards. WPA is designed to be used with an authentication server 802.1 X, which distributes different keys to each user. This is referred to as WPA-Enterprise or WPA2-Enterprise. It can also be used in pre-shared key (PSK), where each user has the same passphrase. This is referred to as WPA-Personal or WPA2-Personal.

    Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP)
WEP is an older network security who is still able to support older devices, but it is not recommended. When you enable WEP, you configure a network security key. This key encrypts the information that one computer sends to another computer on your network. However, WEP security is relatively easy to crack.

We do not recommend the use of WEP. WPA or WPA2 are more secure. If you try WPA or WPA2 and they do not work, we recommend that you upgrade your network card to those who work with WPA or WPA2.

    Authentication of 802. 1 X
    802. 1 X authentication can help improve the security of 802.11 wireless networks and wired Ethernet networks. 802. 1 X uses an authentication server to validate users and to provide network access. On wireless 802. 1 X can work with key Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi - Fi Protected Access (WPA). This type of authentication is typically used when connecting to a network of workplaces.

  • Unable to connect to network WPA2-Enterprise with Broadcom BCM4352HMB 802.11ac WiFi 2 x 2

    HP Envy 15 t-J100 using BCM4352HMB 802.11ac 2 x 2 WiFi driver version 6.30.223.221 on Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit.

I get an error trying to connect to my network wireless to work with "Unable to connect to this network." using WPA2-Enterprise authentication.

The network appears in the list of available networks and the guests for my credentials (username & password), then it attempts to connect to it.

A co-worker next to me has no problem with Win8.1, but has a 802.11n chipset (non - ac).

I connect very well to my home network (802.11n) using the WEP protocols.

I saw a post that might be one that this driver tries initially to connect with the COMPUTER instead of the USER name?  He suggested demotion to a Win7 64 bit, but I'm not find driver that I am willing to try.

In the network configuration (802.1 x settings), I set myself to SPECIFY the MODE of AUTHENTICATION = "User authentication" without success.

Solved the problem by installing the version of the driver 6.30.223.9 Win7-specific (sp64737).

I can now connect to WPA2-Enterprise through Cisco Access Points.

  • Windows 7 starter, no internet access, WPA2 Enterprise Network

I use an Asus EeePC for the first time to work.  I replace my ibook apple that I had no problem with in the past. I entered the correct name for the network.  has selected WPA2-Enterprise, AES encriptación.  Using the PEAP authentication.  After entering my user domain\username and password, I connect to the network, but when I look at the network he says no internet access.  I can see my internal network and the computers.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi Kbpipes,

First check the edition of Windows 7 installed on your computer, since you mentioned that you use the Windows 7 starter edition. Windows 7 starter edition will not be able to join the domain network. To join the domain network, you will need to install either Windows 7 Professional, ultimate edition.

Access the link below to learn more about the field of Assembly.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/features/domain-join

To verify which edition of Windows 7 is installed on your computer, follow the steps below.

    1. Click Start.
    2. Right-click on computer and click Properties.
    3. Check the information on your computer.

However, you try to run the troubleshooter from network built into windows 7 and check if it can help solve you the problem of connection to the Internet.

Access the link below and follow the steps.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/using-the-network-troubleshooter-in-Windows-7

You can also try to temporarily disable the security software of the computer and try to connect to the Internet. If you are able to connect to the Internet, you can contact the manufacturer of security software and check if you need to change the settings. Later, re-enable the security software.

Also, you can try to start the computer in safe mode with network and check if you can connect to the Internet. To boot to the desktop in safe mode with network keep tapping key F8 during restart. Once you see the option to start it in safe mode with select network and press ENTER.

Access the link to learn more about how to start the computer in safe mode: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

You can also contact your network administrator and check if there are settings that must be changed or configured to access the Internet.

Post back with the above information and let us know the result.

    Thank you and best regards,

  • "Unexpected error" occurs when you try to create a network with a security profile wpa/wpa2 enterprise

I recently started using Windows 7 x 64 and I'm unable to create a network with WPA2 - Enterprise Security profile.  I have a wireless card for Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG with 13.0.0.107 driver version.  I have had no trouble to create this network in Vista Ultimate x 86 profile, and I do not know what is causing the error.

I went through the steps to create a network profile:
    1 'Add' a network profile
    2 ' manually create a network profile '.
3 name the profile, and then select WPA2 - Enterprise with AES encryption

When I click on 'Next' to complete the configuration of the profile I just get a message that says:
    "An unexpected error has occurred."

Has anyone experience the same problem?

Thanks to another post and help Orgwizard, followed it to Symantec Endpoint Protection. I had emigrated from laptops using the Easy Transfer Wizard and did not reinstall MS and sought instead to Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE deleted and reinstalled MS and everything is fine now!

  • WPA2 Enterprise 'disconnect' after about 1 h

    Hello

I am the COMPUTER administrator for a company that has WPA2 Enterprise Wi - Fi set up in different locations across the country and who authenticate to a central RADIUS server. All windows/domain joined computers can connect and work fine however all our Macs in multiple locations meet the same problem. The Mac can connect and authenticate to the WiFi network using authentication EAP-PEAP (MSCHAPv2) however user anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour or so the mac receives an error "authentication failed on the network - authentication server is not responding. Contact your network administrator to verify the network infrastructure. ', and the only option is 'Disconnect '. The strange thing is the connection is always connected and ping google.com continues to operate until the moment I press 'disconnect '. I can then usually to reconnect back to the same network, authenticate, and continue to work for another 30-60 minutes until it happens again. This is obviously not ideal and very frustrating for my colleagues using Mac.

I've been trying to solve cela a couple during the week and even set up a new NPS/RADIUS server on the latest version of windows server but the problem persists. I am very knowledgeable on the Microsoft products, but not so much with mac and apple. Am I missing something?

My current test machine is a Macbook Pro 15 inch Mid 2010 running OS X EL Capitan 10.11.5 but I'm quite sure of what is going on between several versions of Mac OS.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

    Wireless adapter (s): Intel 4965AGN (integrated into Dell XPSM1330) and Cisco/Linksys WUSB600N

Drivers: latest windows 7 64 bit drivers from the two websites of companies.  Intel (v12.4.1.4), Linksys (3.0.10.0)

Network properties: WPA2 enterprise, encryption of the ACS, authentication EAP - P, several types of routers around the world

History: has been able to use the same laptop with Vista32 on this network without any problem

I can not connect to networks non - WPA WPA networks simply not.

When you try to connect to my companies WPA2 network (at any of our locations around the world).

    Method #1:

    1. Select "Other network" in the list of network
    2. Enter the SSID of the network
    3. Windows could not connect to the SSID
    Method #2

    2. Select set up a new connection or network
    3. Select manually connect to a wireless network
    4. Select one of my adapters
    5. Enter the SSID but select an open network
    6. Adds the network
    7. Then try to change properties
    8. WPA2-Enterprise security type
    9. Set to AES encryption type
    10. "Choose a network authentication method:" drop-down menu is empty!
    11. Windows has encountered an error saving the wireless profile.  Specific error: the profile has an invalid length field.
I'm pretty desperate for a solution.

The problem occurs when you perform a Wizard for easy transfer to a computer that was Symantec Endpoint Protection installed to one without him.

    Answer, copypasted:

Inspect the key mentioned above - that is of HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\RasMan\PPP\EAP.

In each of the number keys look something like ConfigPathBackup and its corresponding ConfigPath - there are a number of them.

For each, I deleted the original key (e.g., ConfigPath) and restored the original by renaming ConfigPathBackup to ConfigPath

For each of them, the State is now restored to her pre State Symantec - each key pointed to a Symantec location that is no longer present and by restoring the path key backs up everything was fine

  • WiFi WPA2 Enterprise with RADIUS - connection problem

    Hello

I have here a new ISA 570w with the latest firmware (1.2.17).

Anyway, I can't get wifi to work in mode WPA2 Enterprise with RADIUS authentication.

Mode WPA2 PSK are not a problem.

I have configured the BEAM properly and I can connect directly to him via NTRadPing without any problem. Also the test in the web interface works without any problem (see Figure 2, 3).

The RADIUS server is a server Synology RADIUS on a Synology NAS, which is a FreeRADIUS server under the hood.

In the settings of the ISA wireless, I put this RADIUS server for authentication (see screenshot 1, 4).

However, I can not connect to connect to the network:

On the iPhone (iOS 6.1.3) I get a prompt for a user name and password, but when I click on connect, it says 'connect to 'cisco3'... ". "and stays there.

In ISA 570w newspaper, he said:

    Information

    Wireless

    MSG = add MAC station in the list of the ATU. VID = 5; MAC = 5 C: 59:48:02:78:3E;

    Information

    Wireless

    MSG = Wireless mode is a 802.11 mixed b_g_n

When I cancel the connection attempt, he said:

    Information

    Wireless

    MSG = the Client has dissociated;

On my Thinkpad with Windows 7 Professional I have everything configured as usual (see screenshots 5,6,7,8) but when I try to connect I do not get a command prompt where I wonder username and password, and finally the connection cannot be established (see Figure 9). Also tried with the same configuration on an another Windows 7 Pro installed costs for laptop with the same problem.

I can't see any attempt of 570w ISA to authenticate anything in the logs of the RADIUS.

Also the capture of network traffic on the LAN to the Synology NAS port does not show the RADIUS datagrams.

I already disabled COP because I read that it can cause problems, but it did not help.

Can you please suggest something else I can try?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards

    Dominik

I saw these screenshots, but that screen settings just select the button set up next to the authentication method in the section user authentication, under users.  In each of your screenshots, the RADIUS server identification number is 1, so I would also ensure that I configured the server ID RADIUS 1 that can be configured by going to users-> RADIUS servers.

All that said, I have seen that your tests have passed and I also do not understand the point of having the RADIUS settings on other screens and then to have info ID RADIUS.  My thought is that you'd be able to pre-set RADIUS users of-> screen RADIUS servers and then select the RADIUS server ID in all other screens without having to enter the RADIUS news over and over again.  He also thinks that you could ignore the users-> screen RADIUS server and enter RADIUS information over and over again and it should work... as you set up initially.  However, based on the past experience of programming errors, I recommend configuring the ID from RADIUS server 1 under user-> RADIUS servers if you have not already... just in case where.

  • WPA2 Enterprise signed vs self-signed certificate

    Hello

What are the risks by using a self-signed certificate on an OS X Server RADIUS client using WPA2-Enterprise?

The biggest risk is teaching your users to ignore certificate warnings.  But tell all to ignore your warnings cert will be likely to train people to ignore all the warnings, possibly opening security threats.  For non-technical users, it's a bad habit to enforce.

The cost of a valid certificate is not terrible.  If you have decided to build a wireless infrastructure secure by using certificates and RADIUS, buy a real certificate.  I hope this helps.

  • Implementation of WPA2 Enterprise

    Hi all

Sorry if this sounds stupid for someone of you.  Try to not me the flame.  I have been using wpa2 with key pré-partagées in my "little", network environment but I'm tired of manually retype the key to everyone when someone leaves the company, you start to grow at a pace quite rapid.

I want to implement WPA2 business but don't know where to start.   I was looking for some how - s on the Cisco site, but this could be a good starting point for thinking.

Our environment is a mixture of Linux and Windows, LDAP AD &, using Linksys WAP200 and Cisco switches.

Y at - he of the docs for wpa2 Enterprise configuration which of you use?  Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thank you

Where do you want to configure this?  Client?  APs?

It is best if you hang the WPA2 connecting GANYMEDE or RADIUS account.
