  I am using a microphone with my computer.  In the dialog control sound control panel it says microphone "works".  It is not muted and the volume is completely.  However, when I talk into it, it does not record that there is no sound input and bars do not move up and down as they should.  So of course, I can't save anything, because there is no 'hear' me.
