  You should be able to make the transition. Sprint and Verizon use CDMA and ATT and T - Mobile GSM. Before that you might not make the switch because networks are two totally different types. Because the 6 s iPhone comes unlocked now you can use it on any medium because it can use a sim card. I make the switch from Sprint to T-Mobile and they use two types of networks, but T-Mobile has said since my phone was unlocked I should be able to. I think that the same works with ATT like T-Mobile is the same type of network. Simply mention them you have an unlocked phone and want to open an account with them and need you the SIM card kit. They may be just trying to make more money off of you by going to buy a phone through them.
