  Here's my problem: my iPhone 6 (iOS 10.0.1) does not connect to my iTunes (11.4) on my Macbook Pro (2008) 10.6.8 running. The message I get is: "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone 6 because an invalid response was received from the device."

  The steps I did:

  1 - uninstall iTunes and reset the folder (/ var/db/lockdown) reinstall iTunes (11.4). When I connect my phone iPhone and iTunes asks if I want to trust each other. I click ok and trust on both.

  .. .and that's it! Still does not work.

  Any idea?

  You are right. An iPhone with iOS 10.0.1 requires the latest version of iTunes, 12.5.1, which requires OS X 10.9.5 or above. Your version of iTunes is too old, just like the OS X version to support.

  If your iOS device does not appear in iTunes, try the following:

  1. Open Control Panel > Device Manager
  2. Plug in your device
  3. Locate Bus USB Controllers > Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.
     It is also possible that the device may appear under imaging devices, portable devices or other devices or as a device USB of MTB.
  4. Right-click and select software update of the driver...
  5. Click Browse my computer for driver software
  6. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Apple Mobile Device Support\Drivers or
     C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
  7. Click on let me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer
  8. Click on Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
  9. Click Next, then close and exit the Device Manager

  My iPod Touch will not connect to iTunes. When I connect it to my laptop with the cable my laptop USB recognizes the iPod begins to charge and 10 Windows asks me if I want to open it to view files, but it seems to treat it as a camera and I just want to know if I want to get pictures on it and on the laptop.

  You've probably seen this already, but if not - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567 and http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 peuvent help (helped when my iPod is not in the same way).

  If no joy, as a trial of test creates a new user account and see if it can connect to that?

  It is good that you have told us you're OS x 10.7.5 (current is MacOS 10.12), because it is your problem.

  iOS 10 requires iTunes 12.5.1 or later to communicate.  iTunes 12.5.1 requres OS X 10.9.5 or later version.

  Well, as a first step, this IPhone 6 more belonged to my mother and she connected and synced to itunes version 12.1.2 for windows 8.1 perfectly fine on my laptop. She gave it to me so I restored it. Updating to the latest as well, but when I try to plug in the USB on the same laptop and the version of itunes, I get this message on itunes. So I check the updates on itunes and it says its updated. I went to the site itunes, and said that the latest version is 12.3.3 so I download it but when I try to run together until I just get another error! In saying that I can't run this version!

  If you haven't already done so, you will need to disconnect his Apple ID on the iPhone in settings > iTunes and App Store > Apple ID and sign in using your Apple ID.   Recently I noticed that whenever I try to connect my iPhone 5 c (with the USB cord) to my laptop (currently Windows 10) to sync all my music, it does not / is not recognized at all. I tried every different USB port, I tried:

  If you use iOS 10.x, you need the latest version of iTunes, 12.5.1. If you use iTunes 12.1.3, it makes me think that you have Windows XP or Vista. Is this the case? If this is the case, 12.5.1 iTunes is not supported by earlier versions of Windows, and you will not be able to sync your phone. You need to upgrade your Windows 7 or higher.
