I bought a new computer, installed LR5 and import photos from a remote hard drive. Photos is finer, but all my Collections disappeared.  Is there a way to retrieve my Collections?

The Collections are stored in the LR catalog. If you had previously copied to your catalog on the other computer to the new all your collections would have been there.

Now that you have the images on the new computer, 'IF', they were placed in the same folder structure (IE even the folder names and locations) then copy through the original catalogue "should" include your collections. If they are in the names of different folder or on a different drive letter or name of the player, then you might be able to use the feature to locate Images to find them.

  • iCloud on iPhone and Mac photo settings

Very well. I hope someone can help out me with some settings iCloud! I mainly use it for photos. What I want to do, is to have the photos on my iPhone copied on iCloud, but NOT photos from my Mac. I am a photographer, and it kills my storage because it keeps adding 16 GB worth of files every time I import a new session. I save them to an external hard drive. I want only iCloud for my photos of personal relationships. On another note, when I put in place iCloud (on mac's hard drive crashed, I had to redo everything so) he took all the photos ON my iPhone and put them iCloud. I want that they copied it, but I want to keep them on my cell phone too. Help?

    NOT photos from my Mac.

System of preferences/iCloud and uncheck synchronize Photos. Photos/preferences/iCloud and make sure that nothing is selected.

For the phone, try the settings/iCloud and remove the synchronization. Wait a few minutes and then resynchronize.

Have you tried the signature to iCloud and then reconnect?

  • iPhone and iPad photo storage

I have recently bought a new iPad Pro and an iPhone 6s and also implemented exactly the same in terms of photos - they access the same library of Photo and both are on optimize storage device and both have the value NOT to download and keep the originals.  Two questions - they take more memory than they should be? -62 on my iPhone and 30 GB on my iPad (I know they're going to take a bunch, but that still seems a lot so we have 63 000 + photos in our library). And, secondly, question, how can be different on each device using the same settings and access to the photo library even the amount of storage they take place?

    Thank you

    Keith

Optimized Photos stored on your iCloud iOS devices that will dynamically change library based on the amount of storage you have at any time in time. So, Yes, they could be different amounts, and they would take place as storage space they can dynamically. Here are a few items of media that can clear up your questions:

  • How can I detach sweeping lightroom and import photo?

When I scan to my computer that he was ready to go to my documents, it now goes to Lightroom.  When I try to open it in my documents there is a link to lightroom and sending me lightoom.  the same thing happens with photos I take and import from my card.  they are not a proper jpeg they have a lightroom icon and no matter what I do by clicking on the picture takes me to lightroom opens. Help

Something is wrong with the associations of files on your computer. Lightroom is not designed to be an application that starts when the image files are open. It was apparently a gap that existed at one time but supposedly has been eliminated. Check your file associations and delete Lightroom as the application associated with image files.

  • How can I separate my iPhone and iPad photos?

I have an iPhone 6 and an ipad 9.3.2. Between the two, I continue to see that when I take a picture on one it also shows the other. I keep getting messages that my iCloud is almost full. I almost nothing of my choice (applications, videos, music, pictures, video) on my devices and this pop for storage continues to be. I wondered if this dubbing of the photo is originally a part of the problem? It is thought between the two purchased aircraft separated, they share the same iCloud. To me, it's wrong. When I pay all this money to my diet I should get storage consolidation.

Also how can I turn off auto correct. I never typed sanitation. I typed "separated".

  • How can I stop syncing between iPhone and iPad photos

    Two questions:

    (1) someone can you please give me step by step instructions on how to STOP my iPad photos to appear on my iPhone?

    (2) is there a way to the pictures on each device, go to iCloud, without them appearing on each device?

Thank you... as you can see... very technologically challenged!

Your two requests are a bit against intuitive

iCloud IS a synchronization mechanism - most of the time

To stop synchronization - settings - Photos - MyPhotoStream - Turn Off

  • LR 5.7 - impossible to create a new folder and import photos in this folder [was: could Adobe Lightroom Fix so that it is functional?]

I can't believe that after use adobe for years that lightroom can be this difficult to maneuver - please fix this intuitive user program. It is so far for simplicity of use. Please fix or return to support the opening. My images/files and folders are a total disaster.

.. .you you create a folder and cannot import directly in this folder, etc.

Perhaps the difficulty here, comes to design two sequential tasks, rather than one integrated task, for example:

    • Make a folder, manually put the pictures in there, then go and find this place AGAIN, for an import with TDA
    • Create a folder, and then to go and find this place again as an import with the copy destination

No one who is attractive to me. Lightroom is IMO more useful when rationalizing away the boring stuff.

LR can make the file for YOU and drop the images into that, according to your instructions, while import.

"Let's say that my system was focused on the year at the top level, then the month, then records a day in this framework, each preceded the date in a format standard, so-called ' 2016 - 07 - 16. LR can run it for me immediately, as an automatic process of hands-free and without error. So if I want to, after import, I can add a descriptive text (customer, situation, whatever) on a given from LR folder name.

Otherwise I want can I have LR just go a standard parent folder and then type a name of subfolder custom in the dialog import (Destination Board) in order to meet the specific needs of this - if not automated - import with a copy. Type in certain keywords lot too, perhaps.

IOW: remember that an import preset to re - initialize the import settings and individualize then from there. But I prefer the former kind Setup that even if you do not individualize that is offered to all, always not something that auto-fichiers images in a useful and meaningful way. I do not customize folder names myself, so this just just there.

  • Access previously imported photos out of Lightroom 4 and add them to the collection

    Hello-

This is probably a stupid question... I recently used my raw software and not Lightroom and import photos on my hard drive. now, I want to add these photos to a collection in Lightroom. I can't understand (to save my life) how in the World navigate photos in Lightroom 4, but the pictures that were already imported with other software. can anyone help? Thank you!

Here's the easiest way (in my opinion):

    * Select the files in the Explorer/Finder

    * drag on the grid of Lightroom (library).

review of import settings - make sure that "Add" is selected at the top of the import dialog box.

    * Click on "import".

  • "Remove item after importation" of Photos is activate but failed to import! Both devices (iPhone and Macbook) have no pictures!

I'm trying to import my photos iPhone Macbook pro, I activate the function "delete after import" photos.

However, the process fails, and both devices have no pictures I selected.

How could I come back all these pictures?

This is exactly why it is not recommended to never delete after import: always wait at least a backup has not completed

    What happened exactly?

Depending on what happened, you might be able to recover the photos by launching Photos while holding down command and iptin keys and repair the database - which does not then you will need recovery software as media recover http://freshcrop.com/photo-recovery/image-recovery-software-for-apple/

  • My iPhone and Mac all have two Photos related to iCloud, same images appear on both. How to remove pictures from the phone without removing them from the Mac

I've shared pictures between my Mac and iPhone using iCloud. Recently downloaded about 1800 brother SmugMug account family photos. Subsequently discovered that they had all been loaded on my phone as well. When I try to delete them from my phone, I get a message the suggests that if I do, the photos will be removed from my Mac was fine. How can I remove the phone and let the Mac intact?

I've shared pictures between my Mac and iPhone using iCloud.

    What iCloudService do you use?

    • If the iPhone and the Mac are synchronized with iCloud photo library, removal of the photos from the iPhone will remove them from the Mac as well.  iCloud photo library is a synchronization service that will ensure that you see the same pictures on all devices. All change at will the timing and any deletion or any import.  To win the storage on the iPhone allow the iCloud Photos setting "Optimize Storage.
    • If photos have been synced with my photos and not iCloud library stream, you can remove them from the iPhone. They must stay in the library on your Mac. But before a massive deletion on any device, make a backup of your photo library, just to be sure.
  • A few photos from my iPhone and iCloud are missing from the Photos on my Mac.

I have connected my iPhone 6 to my Mac today to back up as well as importing photos to the Photos app. Most recent photos have been imported to the Photos app, but more of a period of 3 days (taken last week) did not appear. Missing photos are always available in my iPhone "all the Photos" album as well as in iCloud. I tried to disconnect and reconnect the iPhone several times, but no luck. I also took a new picture and plugged the iPhone in, and she who imported automatically.

I have OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 version and my iOS is 9.3.1.

My photo stream and iCloud, photo sharing are turned on and my computer with iCloud drive is on, on my phone.

Are there steps I can take to try to re - import the missing photos? Any thoughts on what is causing this problem?

A big thank you to the one who can give me some advice!

    Laura

If the normal import process fails - get an account on OneDrive, Photos of Google or Upthere.com

You can download the images to the cloud via the phone services and download them to the computer

Or you can turn on iCloud photo library and use the synchronization feature to display the images in iCloud photo library on the computer
