  After months of deliberation, I decided to convert my Aperture on Mac in photo library and link the family three iPads and my iPhone to iCloud photos. I made sure all software updates have been installed on all devices, including the Mac. After 22 days of continuous download, I have now all the pictures in the clouds!

  However I have 2 problems. My 30 k + original images expanded to 40 k + with thousands of duplicates and my iPhone 5 c memory (8 GB - what a mistake!) is now full and I cannot take photos more or update applications on it. I guess that duplicates are albums on iPads.

  Before I converted, I checked and the documentation stated that the Photos would be recognition of duplicates and not replicate in the cloud. I also checked the box to optimize the images on my iPad and iPhone not realizing that even with the optimization of the paltry memory on the 5 c would be totally inadequate - the iPad is very good.

  Now I have more documented and install PhotoSweeper on the Mac seems a possible solution to the problem in double - the alternative is to go through each image!

  Re the problem of the iPhone, the only solution I see is to stop the iCloud photo library on the phone and then remove the images on the phone. Who will free the memory, and I will then be able to take pictures I have to take pictures by other means. It's not ideal for a functioning flawlessly, but when my contract is up this summer the next phone will be a greater amount of memory and hope it will be seamless!

  Any advice please before going further?

  Photo Sweeper is a good package and works well and is course - so are duplicate Annihilator for Photos and PowerPhotos

  You could try turning off ICPL on the small phone, cleaning of duplicates and leaving all s = complete uploads and downloads and stabilize and they new the on with photos on the iPhone - optimized it can handle then - worth a try

  I have trouble understanding how to get the 5 500 + pictures and videos that are on my Mac App Photos on my iPhone via iCloud photo library, without the need for iTunes. Is this possible or should I return to the synchronization of photos in the Photos app on my iPhone via iTunes?

  I ask because of the 5 500 + photos on Photos app, only 389 are on my phone. I read what parameters must be on, I read almost all of the articles on this. Without running into the boring generic Apple written article of how they work together seamlessly etc...

  My settings are the following (updated as I was typing): on my iMac, I have in the Photos App preferences, iCloud library checked with the possibility to download the Original to this chosen Mac because I have tons of space for her, no problem. I have my photo stream checked and I have iCloud Photo Sharing checked.

  On my iPhone, my settings are the following: iCloud library is on, with the possibility to optimize iPhone storage selected. I download on my photo stream on iCloud and sharing photos on as well.

  My goal is to have all 5 500 + pictures and videos on my Mac App Photos on my iPhone via iCloud, however to optimize the pictures and videos on my iPhone. Is this possible? Am I missing a step?

  UPDATE: quite possible, I might be a bit impatient lol I see the number of photos on my iPhone more. Although slow as * but growing. However, I would like to know if I put this in the right seat with the settings I said. However, I organised the people Album on my iMac, this exact organization should not be reflected on my iPhone via iCloud or are they two different infrastructures that should be organized separately using the photos I upload to the cloud?

• Displaying a video iPhone to iCloud

  I wasn't able to post a video from my iPhone to iCloud, photo sharing.  The video is 04:34 minutes long, so seems to be within the specifications given by Apple (max. duration 5 minutes if I understood).  I tried the iPhone (4 s iOS 9.3.4) and iMac (27-inch, late 2009 OS X El Capitan 10.11.6).)

I looked in the iDrive and there is a section of iBooks, that seems to have all my old iBook (15 GB) files, but each file appears as "Encrypted File". I have no idea on how to decrypt these files so that I can use them again.

  The iBooks interface displays only the empty shelves.

  I don't know what triggered this loss of all my books. Anyone have an idea how I could recover my books?

  Overall, I must say that I am very disappointed with the whole iCloud / iDrive system. It took an eternity to download files, the data transfer is extremely slow and I'm not even able to download iBooks from my PC to the iCloud. I have much better experiences with Google Drive or Dropbox, which operate in a transparent way through everything, platform. I guess that the iCloud / iDrive works only in an all-Apple configuration

  I have the same problem too, all my files epub in the ibooks app disappeared after I have sync my iphone on icloud drive and when I checked the ibooks on my icloud storage it appears as "encrypted file.

  What do you mean by 'repetition '?

  You use two phones? Or did you give the old phone to someone else? If you use two phones, one ID on both Apple is probably than most people. Before you give or sell an iOS device, you must sign in iCloud in settings > iCloud and restore the device as good as new.

  I guess the iOS which lay on the iPhone 6 that had stolen you was more recent than the one you have on the replacement. Connect the replacement phone to the computer and iTunes. Set up as news and update the iOS. Once you have updated the iOS, go to settings > General > reset > erase content and settings. Which will bring you to the Setup Wizard. From there, start the installation and choose to restore your iCloud backup device.

I've been running iCloud photo library - but not Photostream - and without really look deep into the settings exactly, when I take pictures on my phone they usefully automatically found in the Photos app on my macbook. When I remove photos from my phone, they also seem to disappear too from my mac.

  Recently, in an arrangement of happy until I started running low on space on my phone. My question is, is my library in 'mirror' between my devices? IE if I say, delete all my photos from 2012 to 2014 my phone, they are removed from my macbook too? Obviously, it would be disastrous.

  I guess my question is, what are the best settings to have a situation where my photos will be driven by my phone to my laptop, but then stored on my laptop indefinitely?

  When you use iCloud photo library, deletion of a photo or a video on any device that uses the service will remove this item in all of them and also to iCloud.

I want to iCloud on use as a conduit to get the photos to my computer, not as a large storage space.   You can not that's not how works iCloud photo library - it is not a conduit but a total synchronization service whose entire raison d'etre is to keep libraries connected identical - all changes made on any device (addition, deletion or modification) are made on all devices. For devices with limited memory, using optimized photos

  If this isn't what you want then use another service - USB import, iTunes sync, MyPhotoStream for example each do different things and everyone can move photos from one device to another

  And Photos lack a lot of features iPhoto form - in fact much more features than iPhoto including iCloud library there like a bigger and better editing capability and better external editing capability and so on

  The only person who can unlock the phone, it's the person who's Apple ID was used to lock. You will need to contact your friend.
