iPhone to iTunes restore?

Hello

I had to do a clean install of my MacBook a few weeks back. I had a Time Machine backup just before, but the HD has been corrupted. I was able to get everything back except for my music. My iPhone 6 has all of my lists of music-and - play, but my MacBook has only my music purchased, not my playlists or music that I downloaded from the CD is possible to transfer data from my iPhone to my MacBook?

Thank you kindly,

Scott

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not that a transfer backup device and media has been planned with you keep a master copy of your media on a computer that is in itself independently supported against loss.  To use a device with a different configuration, you pass the old library from a computer or a backup directly in the new configuration, not the device to the library. Synchronization of media isn't a way, computer device, update the contents of the device to the content on the computer, update or restore the content on a computer from a device. The exception is media to iTunes Store purchases that can be transferred to a computer.

Re-download or transfer your purchases iTunes Store for the iPhone, iPad or iPod to computer - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201267 - 'this feature only works for content purchased from the iTunes Store. From iOS9 is more apps that now need to be re-downloaded directly from the store.

To transfer other items from an i-device to a computer, you will need to use third-party commercial software.  See this document in turingtest2: recover your iTunes library from your iPod or device iOS - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 even this method can fully recover what you originally had in the library. For example, in order to save space during synchronization if you had converted music files at a lower rate, or photos at a lower resolution, it is these lower quality files that will pick you up.

If you subscribe to the Apple music, titles that are not part of the content that you have purchased or downloaded may not be transferred and must be downloaded directly from iCloud.

  • Restoring old iPhone backup ITunes

I backed up my wife on iTunes iPhone before getting a new iPhone.  When I went to restore the backup on the new iPhone, iTunes somehow made a backup of the new iPhone. When I go into iTunes and do a "restore from backup" the version available is the backup of the new iPhone, previous iPhone away from my wife.  Obviously not very useful.

Now I can go in the ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup directory and see the backup version I want to use.  But I can't seem to download iTunes "Restore from backup" to give the opportunity to select the backup version I want.

Any ideas on how to access this version would be very appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • Restoration - difference between erase (iPhone vs iTunes)

We (me andChrisJ4203 ) were recently involved in a problem where the person had difficulty with a car with Bluetooth connection after unlocking

Limitations of the iphone unlocked 6

As we sifted through the questions: one thing that struck me.

The person had used the command "Erase content and settings" to restore the phone

Whenever I advise someone to do a restore - my reference is always using iTunes

Where the question: is there a difference - OR should there be a difference in the results produced by each?

(I was reading some old posts, who lamented a lack of in-depth technical discussions so that this came up - thinking, I could ask around)

I'll offer an opinion for what it's worth:

We will first consider restoring from iTunes method.  If we compare this to ' erase content and settings "followed by a restore of backup iTunes, I would say that the difference is restoring from iTunes combines some steps for the user, so they do not have to run each individually.  Basically, iTunes restore packages several stages together - erasure, then restore from backup.

Restore from iCloud has a much harder time to make this packaging, as he must first clear content and settings to even offer the ability to restore a backup to iCloud.

Finally, there is restore like new.  There are two ways to do this: one from iTunes and one from erasing content and settings.  So I think the iTunes method is just to be complete when the choice of a restore in iTunes, for the person to restore as a new, or restore from a backup in iTunes.

In any case, the result is in my opinion, there is no technical difference between results for any specific 'restore from/as... ". ', differences only packaging how to present questions to the person performing the restore.

  • Can't sync my iPhone on recently restored mobile remove my content iPhone?

I recently did a my laptop factory restore. Now when I start to try to sync my iphone with iTunes I get a disturbing message .

It is found that I saved all my music and reinstalled following my restoration, but I worry about losing all the content and the settings on my phone, I didn't know that I would have saved before, if I try to sync.

I am really outraged by what Apple is here. The sense of timing is the sharing of information between units and NOT only one replacing the other, probably so that Apple can force you to lose any music that has not been purchased from them.

All I can say is that most of the people are not fooled and will be returned this abuse of the customer, as I do and make it more likely we can avoid buying future products from them.

But for now I'm stuck with it and wants to avoid losing my content on my iPhone.

    Help please.

The message may be a bit misleading, although it is precisely correct.  It refers ONLY to what is in your iTunes LIBRARY (music, applications, audio books, etc.) and not any other content and setting on your phone.

For various reasons, devices can synchronize to a library at once, says the message.  As long as your iTunes library contains all of your past and things like CD import previous purchases, you should be OK.  iTunes will erase the music library on the device but restore it with the same library (since you said you saved all your music and reinstalled on your laptop).

I don't work for Apple and cannot speak for them.  But I suspect that if Apple were to allow the combination of libraries or "synchronization of information between cells of sharing", (as you said) it could create problems licenses with purchases made through iTunes and the App Store.  I don't think that intent of apples for you force him to lose any music that has not been purchased from them.  You can still download previous purchases:

Download your purchases past - Apple Support

or import your CD (as long as you still have them).

  • Sync my iPhone on Itunes with NAS library

    Hello

I used to sync to my iphone via itunes with iTunes library that I have stored on my NAS.

I have a new computer and want to do it again.

I had iTunes able to access my library iTunes stored on the NAS, I can play the music on my computer but when I want to sync my iphone, the obly on which I am authorized to do so by Itunes is the local library, not the one on the NAS.

How can I make the NAS library one to use for syncing my Iphone?

The phone searches for the exact same library file used the last time that synchronize you the phone with iTunes.

Hold down the option key while starting iTunes. When you are prompted to select a library to select the file iTunes Library.itl the SIN. If it is not there then you have not kept the entire library on the NAS and the left critical parts of your library back on the old computer.  The only recourse is to get these files to this computer or a backup.  It is usually best to use a portable library but with a SIN, you can run into all kinds of trouble with any iTunes library. In this case, I suspect I know what the problem is, but there are several NAS posts here where we have no idea why a library all of a sudden I have messed up. iTunes and NAS do not play well together.

    Hello

I don't see my iPhone in iTunes when I connect it to my laptop.

In fact my iPhone icon appears for about 20 seconds in the iTunes window, then disappears while the Save icon (circle with arrows / top right corner) appears on my iPhone screen and stay active for as long as the iPhone is connected to the laptop.

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. From your post, I understand that you are unable to select your iPhone in iTunes. I know it's important to be able to sync your iPhone, so I'm happy to provide advice to help with this.

To start, make sure that you said your iPhone to "trust this computer." You can see more info on this feature here:

  • Transfer songs from Apple music from iPhone to iTunes

    Hello world

Most of my songs is downloaded directly from Apple music on my iPhone. I think that my iPhone and my PC is connected somehow through the same Apple ID

Whenever I want to sync my songs from iPhone to iTunes on my PC, my PC already knew that I downloaded music and it downloads the music once again in the iTunes - wasting the time and plan internet - to copy music from my iPhone.

Is it possible to simply transfer the downloaded music from my iPhone directly to my PC / iTunes? Logically speaking music is already there in my phone so the only thing it takes is just to copy it, no need to download it once more.

    Thank you!

P.S. I'm using iPhone 6 (iOS 9.3.2) and 10 Windows with the latest version of iTunes (12.4.1)

    Hi arisastrosubroto,

Thank you for coming to us in Apple Support communities for support. I know it's important to have access to your music on all of your devices, so I'm happy to help you to provide advice for you to get it working again.

If the music you want to transfer was purchased from the iTunes Store, you can use the information here to transfer these purchases to iTunes:

Redownload or transfer of your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad or iPod to a computer

If this music was not bought on iTunes, but simply added to your Apple's music library, iTunes works as it should and will be instead just download these same elements directly in iTunes.

I hope this helps clarify things a bit more. See you soon!
