IPhone will not connect to iTunes - "invalid response received from the device."

After years of work very well, I went to put some new music on my phone and all of a sudden got this message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone 'IPhone of David Platts' because an invalid response was received from the device."?

I've tried different USB ports, different cables (some Apple official, some after market) and several reboots, but nothing works.

I'm 10.7.5 OSX and IOS 10 phone you.

Thanks for the help.

You have a problem.

It is good that you have told us you're OS x 10.7.5 (current is MacOS 10.12), because it is your problem.

iOS 10 requires iTunes 12.5.1 or later to communicate.  iTunes 12.5.1 requres OS X 10.9.5 or later version.

It's (time to upgrade the operating system of your Mac spent).

I can't connect my iPhone to iTunes on my Sony Vaio laptop. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes several times, as recommended on the Apple Support communities, nothing helps. I also deleted and set my phone from scratch. The device is recognized as a storage device, but not iTunes. Can someone please advise as to why this would be the case? As far as I know, everything on my laptop is up-to-date and the phone will not always be recognized.

    I get the error message

"The"Iphone of Jenifer"Iphone cannot be used because it requires a newer version of Itunes. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes. "

Well, as a first step, this IPhone 6 more belonged to my mother and she connected and synced to itunes version 12.1.2 for windows 8.1 perfectly fine on my laptop. She gave it to me so I restored it. Updating to the latest as well, but when I try to plug in the USB on the same laptop and the version of itunes, I get this message on itunes. So I check the updates on itunes and it says its updated. I went to the site itunes, and said that the latest version is 12.3.3 so I download it but when I try to run together until I just get another error! In saying that I can't run this version!

What can I do to fix this please and thank you. It worked fine before.

If you haven't already done so, you will need to disconnect his Apple ID on the iPhone in settings > iTunes and App Store > Apple ID and sign in using your Apple ID. Be aware, all content downloaded from his Apple ID is deleted. You must be connected to iTunes on the PC using your Apple ID in order to sync the iPhone.

  • iPhone will not connect to iTunes for Windows 7 upgrade

My iphone 3G shows in my computer, but not in iTunes since upgrade to Windows 7. It is used to recognize the iPhone with a picture of him in the AutoPlay box. Now, instead, it shows a camera.

I have installed all windows updates. Uninstalled and reinstalled all itunes related programs completely and still can't solve the problem. I plugged the PC of a friend on windows 7 and it appeared that it was in mine in its itunes.

    Does anyone have a solution?

I found this solution.  My symptoms are that windows 7 64 bit detected my iphone, show it in devices such as cameras and Printers window and would transfer photos on the iphone, but the iphone do not show up in ITUNES.  I followed the suggestion to http://forums.techarena.in/guides-tutorials/1168298.htm that says basically made a right click of the camera of the iphone, update the driver using the driver to c:\program files Apple Mobile device support\drivers.  The system has added a new device in the devices window and printers, saying: Apple Mobile Device USB Driver, once again with the same camera icon.  ITUNES now once more shows my IPHONE and sync up without problem.

  • iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "iPhone", because an invalid response was received from the device.

So I am a new iphone 7. I had a 6 before that. Everything was fine until the day where I got the 7, I decided to try a manual on itunes for my 6 backup so that I could put this on the new phone. I use now icloud backup but before that he always did on my computer. Its itunes version 12.2.2.25 as it is the most recent, that I can run with 10.7.5 which is the newest my mac pro can work without hacking it. Again, never had a problem before it save and use it to transfer music. Anyway, I received the message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone"iPhone"because an invalid response was received from the device." I tried 3 different usb cords. I tried both ports to the front of the computer and all 3 in the back. Abandoned and did a backup icloud. Installed on the new phone. Everything transferred except my music library which is real download of my CD via itunes. If something was wrong on the iphone 6, surely the new phone that starts with a clean slate will be very well... wrong.  Same message. Leaves through ports, cables, etc. Is it just a simple matter of ios 10 now works with my version of itunes?

A new phone will be iOS10.  iOS10 requires iTunes 12.5.1 find which demands in turn 10.9.5 OSX or newer.  Software update checks only the updates to the current version of the system that you are running but that itself can be updated.  It may or may not be possible to upgrade your computer to the system requirements. Find your computer on the web site of http://www.everymac.com model and near the bottom of the specification of the system section, he will tell what versions of the operating system, it is able to run. If you can not run a newer system, you will not be able to sync this phone to your current computer. OSX 10.9 and 10.10 are no longer available. You can try to install the free El Capitan OSX 10.11.  El Capitan can run slower on older machines and require the additional purchase of RAM (4 GB is a minimum realistic and many recommend 8 GB).  Making a big jump in versions of system is also more likely to affect the old software.

  • iPhone 6s more wont connect to iTunes "invalid response".

I am running OSX on a macbook plus old 4.1 10.7 and iTunes is on 12.2 and my iPhone is on IOS 10. Whenever I plug my phone into my laptop I get the message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone"iPhone"because an invalid response was received from the device." I tried to have a friend hook up his iPhone 5 and it says the same thing. I read online that I'll have to do a restore on my phone, but I can't save it up to my computer to do. I also tried completely uninstalling iTunes and install an earlier version, but she telling me I need to download the updated version, it won't let me do a backup. There is no damage or anything done to my USB slots or my phone port, they seem to work for everything else very well (Docking station, another USB compatible hardware, etc.)

I can't really lose all my information. I tried to use other applications (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.), but I just is not enough trust in them, and I don't know how to get all my stuff on my phone. If there is a way I can fully backup my phone to my computer, restore it and then throw it all away on it, it would be great. I would really like to itunes just to work as expected so. If you have information on how may fix this, or at least work around it, please let me know as soon as possible.

iOS9 or newer on a mobile device requires iTunes 12.3 or higher, which in turn requires a computer running OSX 10.8.5 or higher.  Software update checks only the updates to the current version of the system that you are running but that itself can be updated.  It may or may not be possible to upgrade your computer to the system requirements. • iPhone 6 will not connect to iTunes

    Hi all!

Here's my problem: my iPhone 6 (iOS 10.0.1) does not connect to my iTunes (11.4) on my Macbook Pro (2008) 10.6.8 running. The message I get is: "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone 6 because an invalid response was received from the device."

    The steps I did:

1 - uninstall iTunes and reset the folder (/ var/db/lockdown) reinstall iTunes (11.4). When I connect my phone iPhone and iTunes asks if I want to trust each other. I click ok and trust on both.

.. .and that's it! Still does not work.

    Any idea?

    Thank you!

    CiberBob

You are right. An iPhone with iOS 10.0.1 requires the latest version of iTunes, 12.5.1, which requires OS X 10.9.5 or above. Your version of iTunes is too old, just like the OS X version to support.

Make sure that you run 12.5.1 iTunes on your computer, as only this version (or later) can deal with iOS 10.
