  Hi everyone, this is my first post, so be nice! I got my iMac 21 "for over a year now and have never had any problem with iPhoto, other than to learn to use it! However, recent weeks 2-3 when I am importing the iPhone it's duplicate pictures such as videos. These are about 1-2 sec in length.   I recently updated my MacBook Pro (2012) to the iOS of Maverick.  So, I had to update many other applications, including iPhoto. I had a book filled with pictures of family of 2015, but had not printed.  The book came through after the update, but not all of my placed photos are here. I have a few other books (which have already been printed), and their pictures were very good. In any case, I can restore the photos without having to recreate hours of work?  The pictures are still on my Mac. So frustrating!  Thank you for any advice and comments.

  Several members of the forum pointed out that the Apple Support told them, that you can not order books iPhoto after March 31. So, everything you do, hurry to order the book.

  If you have removed pictures of the library, they will be removed the book as well and will show black.

  If the photos are always in the library, get them back to an empty place holders.

• question of iPhoto library

  I don't use iPhoto in the traditional form, I think. I keep most of my photos in separate folders on my hard drive, with the duplicates as well as my backup on an Airport Extreme hub, but also a second external drive.

  When I do a presentation of photo, I import the images that I need in iPhoto, create the slide show, and then export it as an MP4 Player to run to iTunes. I find this a very robust way of presenting.

  It is my understanding that when I import photos in my iPhoto library, the photos are actually COPIED to this folder. In other words, a copy of my original CD is here.

  I have space issues, and my iPhoto Library folder is about 18 GB. If I am comfortable that I'm done with these photos, can I delete and be sure my originals which is not in iPhoto will remain intact and safe?

  Yes - import to iPhoto default and recommended copies the photo to the iPhoto library - you can safely delete in iPhoto without effect on the original photo (iPhoto never done anything with any photo outside his library)

  Thank you for using communities Support from Apple! We see it in your post that you are having problems using your iPhone 5 that has been upgraded to iOS 10 with your Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

  To use your iPhone 5 with iOS 10 with your Mac, you must first Download iTunes 12.5.1 which requires Mac OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks or later to install.

• Update errors (iPhoto, Garageband) inherited iMac 2011

  I've updated an iMac mid-2011 legacy of OS X Lion to El Capitan, and almost everything works, except that the App Store again that Garageband and iPhoto (*) requires the update, but when I try to do updates: "Update not available with this Apple ID" / "this update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by another user or the item has been repaid. or cancelled. "(for Garageband, has always been the same second part of that message; I could have sworn that attempts to update iPhoto used to give another like the one given below after a failed attempt to execute it, but now, it's the same mistake as with Garageband).  After that, I get another message, "We could not complete your request." / "there was an error in the App Store.   I am El Capitan running on my iMac end of 2013 and is considering moving to Sierra, but I have a few questions. To point iPhoto has been disabled at the time where the new photo app was introduced (which I think is a stupid idea) but after an update of the iPhoto application operating system has been activated again and all my photos were there where the should be. I wonder if the upgrade of El Capitan for MacOS Sierra will do away with the iPhoto application (that I've noticed can still be downloaded from the web more) and if the photos stored will be deleted.

  iPhoto has been replaced by the Photos app in the update of the v10.10.3 of Yosemite.

  As with any upgrade (Sierra), be sure to back up all your important data beforehand.

• Photos - removal of a photo App question

  I'm about to finally upgrade iPhoto Photos on our mid 2010 MacBook Pro. My intention is to keep a copy of the complete resolution of each photograph on our MacBook Pro by enabling the option 'Download this Mac originals '. I think reading on the Photos all of my photos & videos will be synchronized between my MacBook, iPhone and iPad Pro if I select to use iCloud Photo library functionality and that if I delete a photo on my iPad, for example, it will remove this photo in iCloud and so on all my devices connected. My question is the original photograph display full resolution will also be deleted on the MacBook Pro? Reason for the request is I wish I could use my iPad Pro through my entire photo library and bring order to the top (remove bad photographs, etc.), but if these photographs I remove in iCloud by using my iPad remain on my MacBook Pro so I'll have to do it again on my MacBook Pro... so I would be wasting my time to do using my iPad.   Yes, I understand form everywhere Deleting removes everything for everyone but I haven't checked it - Léonie done much more work on his iPad and may have checked this

  As for the upgrade - I see no reason to do it in two steps - I just back up and go to Sierra then start leaning Phtops (this is a new program with a learning curve and new workflow - if you think of it like an iPhoto update you will be frustrated because he's not - is a completely new application)

• .apalbum files in iPhoto/Photos

  I am running Yosemite 10.10.5 on a Mac mini (mid-2010). 2.66 Ghz Intel core 2 duo 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.  Updated since the Mavericks in April 2016, now trying to "Restore" saved from the clouds Zip files (so I can wipe) and we found a lot of files .apalbum.  Although I know that these are files of the opening, I never had Aperture, only iPhoto (v9.6.1) & then Photos (v.1.0.1), with the upgrade to Yosemite.  My questions are the following: (1) are these .apalbum relevant/necessary files to my iPhoto & photo files?  (2) if so, how could they be opened without opening?  or (3) If no, why they are there and can I blow them before restoring my backups?

  Chances are that you do not have a usable backup - so far that no base backup is working on an iPhoto or a library of Photos - you have a local backup? Why do you need to restore a backup?

• IPhoto deleting turned off my laptop computer to free up memory

  Help please - I transferred all my photos currently pictured on a stand alone disc

  I would also like to keep my last holiday pictures to my lap top and remove the other albums to release the memory. Pressed delete album on the albums up to 20, but the "amount of memory left has not changed.

  Anyone has any idea why?

  Second question, if I take the apple supply and store all my photos in the cloud, this will free up memory on my laptop?

  To get help, that you must first provide details since we cannot see your computer - you posted in iPhoto for Mac forum but about pictures for Mac and give no idea what OS you have - what version of the operating system you have and what software photos do you use (name and version)

  In Photos or iPhoto cut an album recorded without space like albums aren't a place, but simply a way to display your photos and albums to take no space - and once again withou knowing what software you have in fact we cannot tell you precisely how to remove photos from your Mac

  If you're using iPhoto where you posted then iCloud library isn't an option - if you use instead of Photos, so is and if you set it to use optimized photos it will be disc space required on your laptop, but even once unless we have details we cannot tell you all you need to know
