iPod Shuffle not shuffle... (2nd generation)

Hi guys,.

I had my little cheap 1 GB Shuffle for years. He has not seen much use in the last year, but turns on everytime I want to use it, not to deliver. Today, however, I got a little problem that I can't fix.

I loaded 10 x one hour podcasts on it, they have two synchronized fine. The iPod appears in iTunes, it charges fine, it connects etc etc.

When I log out and click on play with shuffle switch activated, the LED flashes: Orange - green - Orange - green - Orange. All are quick flashes. However, when I flip the switch on 'Continues' play, it plays perfectly. Therefore, it seems that there is a problem with random mode. I reset the iPod, I've restored in iTunes, but still no joy. I was wondering if it was too much, so I went right down to two podcasts in the end, but still no luck. It will shuffle "regular" songs well, I loaded 15 on and they mixed very well (between 3 and 6 minutes).

For reference, Disk Mode is not enabled. Is there a size limit of individual file for the songs on the shuffle?

See you soon,.

Dan

(NB: all iTunes, iPod and OSX software are completely up to date).

I think it's "as planned."

Your shuffle looks like a 2nd gen shuffle (+ clip), because it has a switch for shuffle / in order.  Do you have only these podcasts on the shuffle, or a mixture of the podcasts and songs?  If it's only the podcasts, is perhaps the reason for the flashing light show (which means 'error').  According to me, the only software the shuffle does not play podcasts when it is set to shuffle (only songs).  When you have a mixture of songs and podcasts on the shuffle, this prevents a future podcast whenever you want just for random playback of songs.  And it works for most people, because you usually want to play podcasts in the order, not mixed.  So, if you had only podcasts on the shuffle, using the shuffle setting means there is nothing to play, so that you get the error lights.  But no error, when you set your shuffle to play in order.

When I used my shuffle 1st gen for playback of podcasts, I loaded podcast episodes so that they were at the top of the list (as seen by iTunes).  I also had my favorite songs on it.  To listen to the podcasts, I set the switch to play in order and quickly down the central button three times.  That reset the shuffle to the top of the list (then), where the podcasts.  To listen to songs, I put it in shuffle mode.

Cheap and good jovi...  That IS indeed a serious problem.    But at least the iPod still plays music, so its battery is OK.

You use the USB cable supplied with 2nd gen iPod?  It is long with a cradle at the end of the shuffle.  The replacement of home cable shuffle Apple sells currently is to shuffle 3rd and 4th generation and does not work with 2nd gen shuffle (connector is different).

There are third party replacement cables, but they must be described as 2nd gen shuffle.  And they tend to be cheap and of poor quality, then this might be the problem here.

If you have the right type of cable, when you connect it to the USB of your computer, look at the little light the shuffle.  Blink initially when it is connected?  It turn on, but remain solid (not flashing)?  There is No light at all when connected?

Also, are you using a Mac or a Windows PC?  If Windows, which free?

  • I have ipod shuffle 2nd generation and need new charger (dock) can still buy these?

I have ipod shuffle 2nd generation and need new charger (dock) can still buy these?

Apple no longer sells the official replacement of the USB cable with the "cradle".  Do not buy the replacement USB docking cable for the current 4th gen (3rd generation) iPod shuffle, because it does not work with 2nd gen shuffle (the connector is different).

There are 3 replacements of party, for example

    http://www.Amazon.com/eForCity-Sync-Charger-cradle-shuffle/DP/B0042EB270/

There are other products similar, including some who do not have the cradle, and some who do not even have a cable (like this one)

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/USB-data-sync-charger-cable-for-Apple-iPod-shuffle-2nd-G balances - / 221546931454

Ensure that the product is described as being the shuffle gen 2  I'd go with one that has a docking station, because it maintains the shuffle at a constant specific position compared to the socket, which can be important for a shuffle gen 2.

  • iPod Shuffle 2nd generation

I downloaded songs from Apple's music on my computer but they still not download on my iPod Shuffle 2nd generation. Help!

Downloads of Apple's music service are written songs, not owned songs.  You cannot load them onto an iPod (except iPod touch).  These song files use DRM (copy protection) as required by the content producers.  During playback of music by Apple downloads, the unit checks the status of your subscription to Apple's music through the Internet.  iPod shuffle doesn't have an Internet connection.

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Basic /iTunes and iPod Shuffle (2nd generation)

Does anyone know how or if it is even possible to get my computer to recognize my iPod?  I made each available update, my usb ports work, the computer is new, my iPod works in my friends computer with XP and connects very well.  When I plug my iPod the computer does not see it, I can ' find any device driver to install online, they all said that they should auto install when I plug.  I tried the online help but he keeps telling me to manage add ons and click to install ActiveX controls, but there is nothing there that says that.  I'm fighting it all day and am willing to say that Microsoft is the worst company ever.  I hate their OS, I hate their support (what there is of it without having to pay even more money), and I hate myself for buying a pc and not a mac.

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

The only way to get your iPod to work with any computer, be it a PC or a Mac is by downloading and installing iTunes.  You can download on the Apple support site: http://support.apple.com.  Once you have installed, you should be able to sync your iPod, manage your library, burn CDs, etc.

  • IPod Shuffle 2nd Gen not recognised in Win 7 64 bit

My iPod Shuffle 2nd generation is not recognised in Win 7 64 bit.
It does not appear in iTunes or my computer.
It does not work in my other PC Win XP 32 bit, I even restored it on my other computer, but when I connect it to my PC Win 7 is not.
I also have the latest version of iTunes for 64-bit installed
Error #43 appears also in devices when I connect it.

    Hi Antonio,.

1 is. the computer able to recognize any other USB device?

2 is the issue limited to Ipod Shuffle 2nd Gen?

    3. don't you make changes to the computer before this problem?

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1.

Connect the device, run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter and check if that helps.

Follow the link given to open the Hardware Troubleshooter: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter

    Method 2.

You can disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:
    1. click on start and then click Control Panel.
    2. click on system and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.
Note that if control panel is in Classic view, double-click System and then click on Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
    3. in Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right click on the controller host, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".
Check that if at all, there is an exclamation point on the pilot, it suggests problems with the installed driver.
    4. Repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.

    Method 3.

  • My iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen the same song just rehearsals

I have an Ipod 2nd generation shuffle, and he will never play the song I put on, he would usually play about 6 of the continuously, despite having lots of songs on this subject. I recently restored to factory settings and got 64 songs on it, but he will play only one of them, which she repeats,

The shuffle uses flash storage.  Flash storage ends by wears.  Thus, the cause may be a hardware problem on your shuffle, especially since a 2nd gen shuffle is about 10 years at this point.

One thing you can try is to reformat the shuffle outside iTunes store.  This must be done in a particular way.  Are you using a Mac or a Windows PC?

  • iPod Shuffle (4th generation 2012) bad songs deleted

Recently, my father gave me his iPod Shuffle, and I wanted to change a part of the music on it. I connected the connected device to iTunes, has given the permissions of my laptop, and well as the device and his music appears, I cannot change anything and can not find the file on my computer. I've seen other issues similar to this and tried their responses, but so far nothing has worked. Any advice?

    Hey Copperdog555,

Looks like you are having problems with your iPod shuffle syncing newly received with your iTunes library. Please make sure that you are running the latest version of iTunes by checking the updates in your App store. If you don't have any music in your iTunes library, try to add the music to the library first, and then try to sync with the iPod shuffle. Once the synchronization was successful, it will erase all songs currently on the device and replace it with what you have added to the iTunes library. The links below will help you get this done.

Get the latest version of iTunes

Search and organize your iTunes media files

Sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer through a USB port

Please use the Apple Support communities for help. The above steps will have you listen to your favorite songs in no time at all!

  • old photos will not disappear - 2nd generation ATV

    2nd generation Apple TV

    Model number: MC572LL/A

    Version: 6.2.1

I work in a marketing agency that uses two Apple TV in the hall to showcase some of our work as a screensaver constantly loop... and I am responsible to keep them up-to-date.

Until I can convince management that it is time to move to the new Apple TV, we're stuck with the 2nd generation... who have not been very cooperative since replaced Photos iPhoto, however well long ago that was.

    Here's my question:

Several old and outdated photos only will not disappear, including (but not limited to) several slides celebrate the 35th anniversary of the company (which was in 2015) and a few promotional pieces for a customer who have employees who work don't are more there (we were specifically asked to remove these parts). As you can probably guess, these are not good things for clients to see when they come to our office.

I deleted the photos of Photos on our Mac (under the last El Capitan). I have reset the Apple TV. I have reset the connection home sharing on both ends. I disconnected and then reconnected to iCloud... once again, on both ends (the two ends being the ATV and the Mac).

I have not been able to get something new to show lately, either, but my main concern right now is to remove the old stuff.

    Am I on?

Photos of the screen saver are temporarily cached, you can go into the settings - screen saver to set a new batch of pictures.

I can't put music on my iPod cause it says I need to restore

As test, try to stop (off) your computer and unplug all USB devices.  You can leave a standard USB keyboard and mouse connected, if used.  Turn the shuffle switch to position OFF, so previous ON.  Computer, run iTunes and connect the iPod to a USB direct on the computer by itself.  Try to do a restore again.  Any difference once the restoration is complete?
