Clearly, some file names contain spaces and others do not.  Just look at the files on your hard drive.

  • Search for files which file name contains a specific string

    Hello

    I'm lookng for a way to find all the files in a directory, what part of the file name contains a specific string.

    for example:

    String = Hello

    files;

    -1hello2.txt

    -22he45.txt

    -gehello42353.txt...

    The result should be an index or the full file name that matches. In the example, I found the indexes 0, 2, or 1hello2.txt and gehello42353.txt.

    In fact, I have a list of files with the "recursive list.vi".

    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you for your help

    You can use the list of folder - function with * Hello *-model.

    From there on, you get the names of files that include this specific model.

    If already you have the list of files:

    -use the chain of digitization of the chips in a loop for and if token index! = - 1, then you can add this index in array to the list.

    I m sure there are better ways to do it, but nothing that I can get to quickly.

  • Why Firefox 3.6.12 truncates file names of attachments containing empty spaces (Windows)?

    Whenever someone sends me an attachment and I save it, Firefox truncates the file name if the file name contains spaces. I'm under 3.6.12 under Windows 2000 SP4 now. But this problem persists for a long time, with the previous versions of Firefox and Windows XP. Unfortunately, I can't control the names of people send me attachments. For example, if someone sends me a file named "file name.doc" (without the quotes, of course), Firefox is the poster (via Micro$ oft Word a) or records as "file.doc". If I get 'door', that's how it is stored.

    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Filenames_with_spaces_are_truncated_upon_download

  • Download a pdf file, save, won't show the full name of the backup file when name contains a space, stop the name of the file.

    Download a pdf file, the file name contains a space in the middle of the file. The name showing on the 'Save' popup is first letters up to space. Works fine on IE8. For example, a file named "old snail_12345.pdf" would show only 'old' (ignore the "s"). This is on Firefox 30.0, WinXP Pro.

    Apparently, there is an extension to work around this problem. I have not tried myself. See:

  • Maintain the same name with spaces

    I'm doing some operations on images batch. Everything works fine, but I noticed that the name of the image are changed.

    When I save my image, if the name contains spaces, photoshop automatically converts this space for ' - '. I want to keep my name of the image, because I have this information stored in the database and after the name change, I can't find the correct path to the image.

    For example, an image called "Google Analytics.png" becomes "Google - Analytics.png", but I don't want that extra ' - '.

    It's my routine of script:

    function SavePNG(saveFile){
        var file = new File(saveFile);

        var pngOpts = new ExportOptionsSaveForWeb;

        pngOpts.format = SaveDocumentType.PNG
        pngOpts.PNG8 = false;
        pngOpts.transparency = false;
        pngOpts.interlaced = false;
        pngOpts.quality = 100;

        app.activeDocument.exportDocument(file,ExportType.SAVEFORWEB,pngOpts);
    }

    Which is controlled by saveForWeb preferences in Photoshop. As far as I know that these preferences can be changed in the GUI.

    Enjoying a beautiful image, choose file-save for Web... Then in the drop of the SFW dialog choose Edit output settings... In this dialog choose files in the dropdownlist in the top control box, then uncheck Unix in the compatibility section of file name. This must only be done once the parameters to be sticky.

    Once this setting has been changed your code needs to export the file without the underline.

  • In XP, file name may not display symbol (TM), shows a '?

    I have a file on a CD I know its file name contains a symbol (TM). But it shows '? "now.
    I know that the "?" means that Windows did not recognize this character, which makes the file inaccessible.
    Is there anyway to make Windows can recognize the character, or let me copy this file to a place and rename it?

    Hi DHLao,

    -What is the content of the CD?
    -Can you see the symbol of the file while you try to use the file, or in the browser?
    -What exactly happens when you try to copy the file? You receive an error message or error code? If Yes, indicate the same.

    TM symbol usually indicates the symbol of trade mark of the manufacturer.

    Try to copy the file using the copy of the command at the command prompt and check if you can copy successfully.

    a. Click Start. Click run.
    b. type cmd and press ENTER to open the command prompt.
    (c) in the command prompt, type the command as shown here:

    copy source destination

    Use this command to copy a file. In the command syntax, source Specifies the file to copy and destination Specifies the folder or the file name of the new file. You cannot use wildcard characters indicated by an asterisk (*), and you cannot copy a folder. If you copy a compressed file from the Windows installation disk, the file is automatically decompressed while it is copied.

    The source of the file can be any folder in the system folders of the current Windows installation, removable media, the root of any drive, the local installation sources, or the Cmdcons folder.

    If the destination is not specified, the default location is the current folder. If the file already exists, you are prompted if you want only the file copied to replace the existing file. The destination cannot be removable media.

  • How to sort the old radio by file name program files

    I have a series of old time radio shows the file name contains the date in the following format...

    Is there a way to sort these programs... There are many... by the number of date or ep (episode) so that they play in the sequence from the beginning?

    Hello

    Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

    Thank you for your query details.

    Also, I understand your concern on the sorting of files.

    Everyone has their own way to organize what is important to them, and you can use Windows 7 to be fair in particular on all of your important files and folders.

    The four basic methods to organize how your files and folders appear in Windows 7 include organization, sorting, grouping and changing your display. Understand the differences between these options will help you customize and combine them at your leisure.

    I suggest you to refer to this article and check if it helps.

  • Export pages to jpg with custom file names

    Hello world

    I found - and slightly modified - this script that exports each InDesign page in jpg format, naming it with the relative page number.

    I need to assign the value of a text that I have placed on each page, which is decorated with a paragraph called "filename" style file name

    It would also be good to have user-friendly web file names, replacing spaces with dashes and turn them into tiny.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    if (app.documents.length != 0) {
         var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
        MakeJPEGfile();

  • Problem downloading file with the specific file name

    I have built a graphical interface that allows the user to enter a (using IRite for editing) press release and have it upload to the server. It needs to be uploaded to the server using a specific name that the user selects from a drop down list. It is not working and I don't know why. Can someone take a look at my code and see if they can spot something? Thank you.

    assuming that, as in your original post, you use a component textarea with
    NAME = "commonality" for text entry, all you need is:

    If your drop-down list box file name contains only the part name and number
    extension (i.e. "mynews" instead of "mynews.cfm"), then add & ".cfm".
    After form.filename in the destination tag cffile above attribute.

  • By specifying the file name for FTP out OSB transport

    I want OSB based service that will send via FTP a file with a specific name to a remote ftp location.
    It seems that OSB cannot do this because the FTP transport on a business service only allows you to specify the prefix and the suffix, and then generates a file name long great for midlle parties.

    Anyone know how to replace it and specify the name you want to call remote file name?

    mdsrobbins wrote:
    Your answer was useful, but being new OSB I'm not yet quite there because I want to spend a "variable" in the name of the file. Now I want a CSV file, I've specified a service proxy in a format MFL behind a jms messaging ftp queue. Business service underlying it is the ftp using the MFL format service. This works all I in the message flow to the proxy I can't have access to a user defined property that contains the name of the file that I could then pull and stuff it into the header 'Filename' as suggested above.

    DOE, anyone got any ideas how I can get access to a property of a JMS message file name?

    What I understand
    JMSQ - JMS PRoxy (MFL) - Pipeline---> BS (MFL/FTP) - FTP server

    If you want to set the file name contained custom JMS message headers? When creating your Proxy JMS you must follow these steps
    (1) for the creation of Proxy JMS in the transportation Configuration page select get all the headers = Yes
    (2) if the name of the file is set as defined by the JMS message property user then use $Header in your pipeline/message flow. This variable can contain your user-defined properties. If the user sets the property is part of the JMS message and then use $body.

    Thank you

  • Create the Project File Name Prefix makes space after prefix

    I am creating a project template.  I noticed that when I put in the file name prefix it prefixes all my screws with this value MORE space.  I like the prefix but do not want the space.  Does anyone know how to make sure that when it renames all the screws it does not insert space after the preifix?

    See attachment.

    Thanks for any direction on it.

    Add the following in your LabVIEW INI file token:

    NewProjectNoAddedSpaceOnPrefix = TRUE

    This will prevent the dialog box create a project to add the namespace for the prefix.

  • Order findstr/l/s/m print the file names of all the files in the directories and subdirectories despite any string contained

    Hello

    I'm looking for a file via the findstr command. After that I opened the command as Administrator window, I get:

    Findstr/l/s/m 'a string containing the words. " *

    Then, the command window displays all the files in the directory and its subdirectories. I think that I see which file is searched for the chain in real time.

    I expected to see only the name of the file/s if the string was found in it.

    What I am doing wrong? or why is this malcfunctionaning?

    I got directions for ordering findstr here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490907.aspx

    Thank you

    I think you want the /c parameter instead a / l.  As written, your search string is interpreted as a list of strings: 'a', 'string', 'with' and 'words '.  Any file that contains an 'a' will be a return match.  The parameter/l keeps your strings to be interpreted as regular expressions.

    If you need exactly match to the entire chain, type:

    Findstr /s/m/c: "a string containing the words." *

    Under the direction of add: It is not clear, but you can have several settings/c , to search for more than one exact string at a time.  For example:

    / s/m/c: 'a string' findstr / c: "a Word." *

    Research is 'a string' or 'a word' exactly.
