Is amending or replacing a legal component (cmd.exe, something.exe something.dll etc.) Windows?

I am a developer and I would like to replace or modify some of the internals of Windows (some dll or exe) but not disassemble/decompile these components, because that is already prohibited by the license.

What I'm trying to do is to hang some of the functions like Microsoft detours, but making it "static" - detours and other techniques described by Microsoft to inject my code in a process target. I want to replace the Windows components ' with my comp of them who run my code, and then delegate the call to the original replaced to do its good work.

Is - against the EULA? Am I allowed to do? I have Vista Home Premium.

I think that the EULA has a lot of legal speak and I can't deal with this detailed surface of it, I guess that its deliberately vague.

He says for example that you can not:

"work around the technical limitations in the software;"  in a literal sense is a bunch of hooey.  I did that for years and never, they came after me.  I even wrote a program that has replaced a dll in Windows 2000 to fix an annoying bug and distributed the program (not the new dll).

So I think that the EULA is very generally written and I suspect they would warn you against something that violates it before any legal action, except if you have written viral and malicious software infecting people, or publish a security hack.  Otherwise, I think you have the abilities to do what you do without any breach.

I'm not an employee of MS, and that's just my interpretation.  You can call Ms. legal if you really wan't to draw their attention to the question and I'm sure they would give you the more conservative interpretation.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third part of Firefox 4 version that works under OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details, see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

When you install one of the above it will use your existing bookmarks, etc.

  • Tecra M5: Can not access the internet pages, but can ping in cmd.exe

Hi all, this is confusing to me.

I've been happily connected to my WLAN for more than a year without any problems. I recently updated my drivers for the following on my Tecra M5:

    -Intel Pro Wireless adapt
    -Drivers audio Sigmatel
    -nVidia graphics card

Now, after facilities, everything was fine. However, a few days later, I turned on the laptop and went to IE7 and it cannot display the web page (my homepage is www.google.co.uk). I called my ISP to help and they reported problems on the service, and they gave me the www.google.co.uk ip address I got a response of in cmd.exe. It seems that I can get out on the internet but I can't access the Web pages - it could be a DNS issue?

I have disabled my A - V and firewall and tried but get the same question. I also tried to restore the PC back more than a month and it did not help either. I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give.

I also plugged the laptop directly into the router using an ethernet cable, so it's not only a wireless issue either.

I have installed any other software at all at the moment and the only other thing that got my attention, it's that, in the field of restoration, there a lot of system restore points, which I wasn't expecting to see in the last month. But it could be a Kipper.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

According to your message, you are not able to connect to internet via LAN and WLan. Is this good?

Well, in your case I would first check the router settings and re still.
In addition, you must reset the router.

Usually, the router assigns the IP address, and therefore you would just plug the laptop LAN cable and then should be able to connect to the internet.
Please note that the TCP/IP protocol settings must be set to automatic.

    Check everything first!

  • How can I fix a corrupted file cmd.exe and what I do to format the hard drive will that solve my problem and then what I do

One of my computers has a virus and I'm ready to reformat the drive if I know what to do when I try to go to the command prompt, I get the cmd.exe message is corrupt.

You could try to copy the cmd.exe file from another XP computer to yours.  It is usually located in the C:\Windows\System32 directory. (Save your current file first, however)  Otherwise, try to start the command-line like this:
    Start-> Run-> "command."
Note that this should appear "command.com" which is different from the "cmd.exe" (but looks like).

If you try to reformat the drive to reinstall Windows, simply boot from your Windows XP installation disc and launch the installation.  A reformat is a normal step in a new installation of Windows.

  • Access denied in even cmd.exe with elevated privileges

    Hello

Have a problem to run several commands in cmd.exe on Windows Vista Home Premium SP2.
Even when I select run as administrator at the launch of cmd.exe, many commands such as chkdsk, ping, tracert, net user, etc just respond with access is denied.
I tried to boot into safe mode and Startup Repair running (which is no problem).
When I press F8 at startup and go to repair and try to select the 'Administrator' account, it is said, has turned off and I have to use another administrator account.
If I open a command prompt after booting in safe mode, all of the above commands run without problem. While in the safe mode command prompt, I tried "net user administrator / Active: Yes" which made no difference (IE. "I don't see yet any administrator account).
I also tried to boot into the Trinity Rescue disk and deliverance winpass-u "administrator." I was expecting it to request a new password, but it does not so do not know if it worked. Whatever he did, it made no difference.
A little puzzled. Can someone help me determine what is the problem?

You can try to create a new user account (Administrator) and check if the problem persists. If the problem persists then unfortunately you must perform a custom installation (all data will be saved to the Windows.old folder) but if the luck and the new user account works, then you can delete the existing account.

    See you soon.

I deleted my PC of all infections, the use of Spyware Doctor, and everything seems to work smoothly.
