Is better zip for compression of the image?

I asked a question on jpeg file size in the InDesign forum. I have a file of about 40 MB, which records in max quality JPEG in Photoshop at around 12 MB. Once it goes into InDesign and fate of the other end as part of a PDF document, the file size is 3 MB.

I believe data are disappearing, but one answer seems to indicate that zip compression is now used increasingly as a jpeg.

I always thought that it was worth zip compression of files such as jpg, mp3, etc. that have already been compressed and that the only way InDesign could hit my JPEG files up to a fraction of their size was recompression them in lower-quality JPEG format?

Gator, in my opinion, Amy had already done all the required exams:

Any image of the source, compressed or not, is in InDesign, considered as the

"best available source. A JPEG file must be decompressed. The story disappeared.

Quite clear - an image placed in InDesign can be cropped or scaled, which

destroy all JPEG-history.

This "best available source" is then used in the export to PDF format with new

features of compression and downsampling, perhaps with new color settings.

In simple terms: a Photoshop JPEG can be transferred by InDesign

into a PDF file directly.

  • Best practices for the compression of the image in dps

Hello! I read up on best practices for the compression of the image in dps and I read the asset from the source of panoramas, sequences of images, Pan and zoom images and audio skins is resampled not downloading. You will need to resize them and compress them before deleting the in your article, because the dps do not do it for you. Hey can do!

So Im also read as he active source of slideshows, scrolling images, and buttons ARE resampled as PNG images. Does this mean that DPS will compress for you when you build the article? Does this say I shouldn't worth going bother to resize these images at all? I can just pop in 300 DPI files 15 MB used in the print magazine and dps will compress their construction article - and this will have no effect on the size of the file?

And this is also the case with static background images?

    Thanks for your help!

All images are automatically resampled to based on the size of the folio you do. You can put in any image resolution you want, it's not serious.

  • Is this OK so my site is for most of the images?

Is this OK so my site is for most of the images?  I created the site below in PS and glide in the tables.  I have not taken the time to convert the images that contain the actual text of the text.  This means that my first two layers of pages are pretty much just images.

In addition, there are moments where I had a line of images and used hot spots.

He was very fast, but I wonder if this is the way.

Before you even open Dreamweaver, you'll need to get in tune with HTML, CSS and basic theory of Web design. It is an essential part of the creation of web sites.  Without it, you will have a front very steep learning curve.

I tried this code, unfortunately the image is blurred after a scale. My question is how to scale and compress, but the image is not blurred... I mean same quality with the original:

Unless the image is already 150 x 150 pixels, you will rarely be able to scale to this size without some loss of quality. According to the characteristics of the image, you can play with the operators to try to mitigate some of the adverse side effects - contrast, quantification or gamma.may using different image processing. Try something like

    obj. Process ('maxScale = 150 150 fileFormat = GIFF compressionFormat = contrast GIFLZW = "60" "");

(Note that you can scale and compress in a statement).

    • Is the photographic, or synthetic image (a screenshot or a document scanned, for example)?
    • What is the size of the original image?
    • Is the original color, grayscale or black and white image?
    • Is the result must be 150 x 150? More you get more results.
    • Should the result be a GIF? Photographic images dimensionnera probably better using something like JPG.

Oracle 11.2 has also added a new operator 'sharpen' which may help, but you're on 10.2 so unless you upgrade that is not an option.

If fileFormat = JFIF is an option, then you can also play with the compressionQuality operator.

  • Company printer says that I need to change the images at 300 dpi

I received the email after my client. in referance in the link with the graphics images folder, I used to create a brochure.

    • We check the files and they are 72 dpi, no bleeding and RGB. You will need to correct the files. We need at least 300 dpi and 1/8-inch serving on all 4 faces, and we also CMYK.

I've corrected the purge of 1/8 I would have known better on that, however I can't fix the 72 dpi as Indesign any images in the program and does not alter the images at all then it exports the original images, so I have nothing to do with it.

Inorder to 300 dpi is taking in photoshop and change the resolution, but this should not be necessary. y at - it something I can do to make this happy society.

    1. change the images in 300 dpi?

2 and everything set up a CMYK (how I do that)

This message is urgent because the customer is waiting thank you in advance for your help.

If I may ask, why do you recommend the compression of the image of none?

Even assuming that you have some problems with a JPEG compression of color images and grayscale, there is no reason why lossless ZIP 8 bit (for color images and grayscale) and CCITT Group 4 compression (for monochrome images) should not be used.

Regarding our recommendations at Adobe, it is recommended to use the Automatic (JPEG) / best quality compression settings. These parameters to differentiate images with sharp lines and vector as characteristics (for example, most screenshots) and photographic images. In the first case, the Automatic (JPEG) defining the uses ZIP compression and in the latter case, the JPEG compression. For images photographic high resolution, you would be very wrong to the notice of actual loss in quality between an uncompressed and JPEG image compressed during printing.

  • Major change in the image in the transition to the 2012 process

When I change process 2012 on an image that was worked on in 2010 I see a big change in the image, much brighter, less contrast.

What happens here? Somewhat closely preserve the old look while updating the process?

Also I was wondering what the new 2012 process brings to the image, outside access to the new tools.

I see a better (or just different) rendering the image from older files?

It depends... PV 2012 can keep the highlight of the textures very much, much better that highlight recovery could in PV 2010. Shadows does a much better job of increasingly darker tones. The ranges of the different fundamental controls are now Adaptive image which means you can make changes more easily. The new PV 2012 clarity is no longer produced strong halos and is 2 x the strength.

Yes, images can indeed seem different when it is converted, usually for the better due to new adjustments. And Yes, it takes a while to adapt to the way the new controls work. But as Lee Jay said, do not expect a 1:1 correspondence in conversions...

Once you have created the image of the target, you can update any target of similar model with this image. VBAI launch and the start screen, select the target to update and do a right-click on the target and select "configure." On the last step of the configuration, you can navigate to the zip file that contains the image that you did to restore the target with all the image files.

The dashed lines in my Illustrator file deform when I copy/paste the in Excel. Otherwise, the image is fine. What I am doing wrong?

The lines end up looking much bigger than they were initially.

I am using the paste special option in Excel and it works fine for all parts of the image, but this.

Someone suggested I try to use the Mode plotted, but who has not made a difference when I tried.

The map view wouldn't make any difference, so more clarification is needed on your workflow.

Why it's not working for you save the image as a png image in Illustrator and then insert it correctly as a picture in Excel?

What are you trying to make to it after that's in Excel? If the PNG workflow does not work for you, then explain your workflow. It might help to know if you're Mac or Windows and the version numbers and maybe screenshots.

  • Degradation of the image by converting to DNG files?

My camera generates NEF files. I usually copy as DNG when I import them into Lightroom. This process does change my image somehow?

I love that DNG is an open format, but I don't want to degrade my images.

    Thank you

    Daniel

If you choose lossless compression when you convert to DNG format, not a single pixel has changed in your image.

Of course, if you choose lossy compression, then the image has changed, although in almost all cases, you'll have a hard time, except if you look really hard seeing her.

  • What standard of metadata is used for parts of the face?

Nice to see that LR6 now has support for facial recognition and the areas of the face. However, nowhere in the online help is written explicitly what metadata standards are used for the parts of the image.

I hope that Adobe is a member of the metadata working group, then LR6 uses the metadata standard specified by the MWG for regions of the image.

    It's the MWG.

In Lightroom itself, parts of the face are recorded in the catalog, and these data are associated with keywords.

When you export a photo, by unchecking the option to remove the info from the person, the names are also written in the IPTC Extension person and in the regions of JMM too.

I suggest that you export a photo as shown above and examine its metadata in the Advanced tab of the information of the bridge file dialog box or another metadata tool.

  • I can't get the size of the image on the right.

Whenever I open an image with a size of 2120 x 1192, it appears as a small image, in addition to placing the images on Photoshop CS3 and I find this very annoying because I really want to finish a project.

Check your ppi values you defined in the metadata for the respective images (for example, with the Image - the Image size and the "resample" option unchecked).  I think you will find they are different.

There is an option "resample the image during the paste/place" in the General options you can uncheck if all you want is a pixel for pixel operation.
