Is it dangerous for the HARD drive, the icon she samples D:\?

Is it dangerous for the HARD drive, the icon she samples D:\?
.. The example of the start menu button is also in D:\. (Classic interface)

I downloaded the 'old' Nice and exchanged icons on my desktop.
The user, workstation, trash ones and two new folders using the icons for them also.

The question is - I moved these new icon samples in D:\ (which is not the main drive) and I was wondering if the PIN that reads the HARD drive is physically mobile all the time on one side of the disc to another. Because the icons are located in the D:\... and these icons are defined on elements that are found in C:\, lol!

so I was wondering If it damage the hard drive (physically)!

Please answer, thank you!

Hi Kaloyan,

Keep the icons in the D drive or any other drive which is not the main drive does not affect the HARD drive somehow.

  • Options of data recovery for crashed HARD drive

    My friend HARD drive gone bad. She has not saved. She has her thesis on it (any resemblance to characters from the fictional movie, living or dead, is coincidentalt. "It's true).

    I know there are options to recover the data. But I'm not familiar with all of them and how much they cost.

    One of her friends which is a network administrator, and continued his studies of masters in computer security will attempt to recover the data for it. I fear that it may just try to boot from a CD and try to read the data, which can worsen the damage.

    What other options does have?

    Thank you

    If it crashed, she may need data recovery specialists.

    These are some $$$.

    You can read this:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
    Download the Vista software from the link above.
    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
    See you soon.
  • Bays for 2 HARD drives?
    Among the existing 17.3 "models which have room for 2 HARD drive, in addition to the optical drive? This information could be in a FAQ?
    The G7 series has a hard drive Bay. Envy 17 has two bays for hard drives:
    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=0qOzkiY3MZ8
    The Mobile Probook 8740w workstation has a Bay of upgrade, but he must choose between an optical drive and a second hard drive.
  • My dv7-7121nr has a place for 2 hard drives internally? (ssd)
    The subject says. I am wanting to add an SSD for fast loading games and windows itself, but I don't know that I want to sacrifice the size of the HARD disk here already. I doubt it has 2 slots, but I thought it would be good to ask.
    Hello
    All dv7s have 2 HDD bays, however only the first Bay is bootable, so if you want to boot from SSD, you need to install Windows on this drive and in Exchange for your HARD drive current in the second span in use for storage - you can also buy a caddy for the second span HP or a site such as this.
  • Mobile LR catalog for external hard drive
    I'm new and in the process of learning LR.  Currently, all my photos are stored and developed in my laptop, but it becomes too much for her hard drive.  I am thinkinng to move all of the LR catalog to an external hard drive.  Could someone please give me some advice how to proceed safely and also how to point LR to its new location, when I open the icon.
    Thank you very much.
    I am pleased to announce that the project has been successfully completed. Thanks to the advice of everyone. That's what I did:
    Some new pictures, asking them to be stored in a subfolder created in the new external hard drive G: has imported. This issue, namely "My LR Photos", is intended to store all my photos in LR in the future. I thought that this will force the G: drive is displayed on the Panel in my LR records. He did.
    Then, in the LR on the Control Panel folder, I moved each subfolder of C: drive for the new folder photo in G:. All photos moved smoothly with their predetermined data intact. None should be reconnected to the original sound.
    I relaunch LR several times to make sure it works and you have no problem at all. It seems to work faster now too.
    I want to thank all three of you for taking interest to share your knowledge and help me to do this without pain.  Best regards.
    Special note to JimHess: I really appreciate your conversation with dj_paige help air cake2 with his problem on another thread. I had a almost the same problem with my LR and worked it out well based on your and dj to air cake2 information.
  • Alternative to the reset by Satellite A660 for potential HARD drive problem
    In the last week or two, I got a few blue screens, saying he was driving demand, and that windows must be shut down to avoid damage my computer.
    I have just restart and continue working.
    The last time it happened, I had repeatedly "initialization failed" and it says hdd, SDS, fdd. If I pressed the power button until I didn't see no signs of activity, then started. Things went well. I called Toshiba support and they recommended that I go home and save my files before continuing. It took hours selectively to clean, sort the previous backups, and a small footprint of the backup system.
    When I called Toshiba once again, they recommended a "takeover", which is restoring the factory settings. It puts me in the stone age. I have to go through a never-ending process of the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, install and reconfigure all the applications and environments/configurations, etc. It will essentially take on holiday, if not more. I'll also have to get another computer (maybe a netbook) to stay in touch while I restart my laptop. It's barely more than a year.
    Is there a diagnosis I can do to determine the probability that there is a hard drive problem? Support for Toshiba said that is the surest way, because it provides a diagnostic F10 for the hard disk code, and it also pushes the bad sectors at the end of the disc (logically, I suppose, since you can't physically move a fault).
    Not sure if this is possible if there is that one option to create a startup disk, and then a flash stick does not work. But of course you can try this out.
    > This laptop does not come with a floppy drive, and I still create coasters trying to burn discs.
    You don't need the floppy drive, the tool must create a disk bootable (CD)
    > I guess that the same question can be asked on Memtest86. Another issue is the relevance of Memtest86 for my system. My c drive has a "Program Files" folder, but also a "Program Files (x 86)" folder for 32-bit applications. Memtest86 is for the x 86 architecture. I don't know if my 64-bit Windows 7 involves a non - x 86 architecture.
    I guess that Memtest86 should also work on Win 7 64 bit systems. But also the MemTest 4.20 is 64-bit capable
  • implementation of the letters for external hard drives
    I have a new external hard drive and when I plug it, the computer will beep, but when I open my computer, there is no indication of the letter where the external hard disk and I can't open it to see or access what is on it. He worked for some time as E drive but I can no longer access disc can someone give me a simple solution? Thanks for any help.
    I'm not an expert, but I did something similar a few times.  I remember well, I clicked on computer (in the Start Menu), selected to manage, which took me to the computer (via the "C:\Windows\System32\CompMgmtLauncher.exe" command line) Management Console.
    I hope that, when you select disk management from the Console (near the bottom of the menu under storage), you will see a list of your external drives.  Just right click on any player to get a menu which includes 'change drive... letter and access paths. ».    (You know to avoid the 'Format' unless you ready for it.)
  • 0x8078012D error code when you back up the new pc for external hard drive
    I have a brand new HP Pavilion Windows 7 Home Premium desktop/8 GB memory/1 terabyte hard drive. Just hung up 3 days ago, and after installing my software, attempted to perform a full backup with the image of a brand new Toshiba Canvio 500 GB external hard drive. I get 0x8078012D error code, without interruption.  I did a check on the external hard drive disk, and it was good. I did a check for virus on the external hard drive, and that was good. I have triple checked the settings for backup and they are as I want them to be. -What is the Toshiba external hard drive or my bad nine HP desktop computer?  I had to call HP tech support yesterday as 2 programs, I had already installed has stopped working, but also Java and Adobe Flash Player. HP technical support was not only bad in his work, but right has supported up and hard with me and talked to me. I told her to give me control of my computer and down the phone that I reported him. He wrecked settings that I had, I did a system restore on the eve of the appellant, which was day 2 of owning the new pc. Now everything works as it was and I think that the 2 programs stopped working due to a Microsoft update that I had done that day. I don't have re-uploaded the 6 latest updates from MS and pc seems to work very well, but I can still save on the Toshiba Canvio external hard drive. Last resort, I reformatted the Toshiba Canvio to NTFS, even if it has already formatted to. Still can not make a backup on the external drive. I don't know what to do. Return the pc?  Return the Toshiba Canvio?  I'm in debt $650 for these 2 pieces of metal. Help please!
    Hello
    The error would have occurred if the services related to backup Windows could have been disabled. This can also occur due to other security software installed on the computer.
    Y at - it a third-party security software installed on the computer?
    I suggest you to check if the services are running and in manual mode.
    You can follow the methods:
    Method 1:
    Follow the steps to check if services are running. If not, restart them and check if that helps:
    (a) click Start.
    (b) type Services in the start search.
    (c) in the Services window, search for the shadow copy volume.
    (d) right click on the Service.
    (e) click Properties.
    (f) select Start on ManualType.
    (g) click OK.
    (h) now repeat the same steps for Windows backup service as well.
    Check if you find the same error trying to save using the hard disk. If Yes, proceed to method 2.
    Method 2:
    I suggest to temporarily disable the security software installed on the computer and check if it helps. Check out the link to do so:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
    Important note: security software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
    It will be useful.
    Just reply to us with the results. We will be happy to help you.
