Is it possible in windows vista to hide the taskbar, but still be able to see the system tray?

I want to hide the task bar, but then, I don't see the system tray. Is it possible to have the separate system tray?

Hi arya78,

It is possible to do the reverse of what you want - to hide some or most of the icons in the system tray bar while leaving the rest of the visible taskbar; However, you cannot hide the taskbar and let only the visible system tray icons because they are part of the task bar and the task bar should be visible so that they are visible.

Sorry, but this is how Vista works.  If you try to get rid of the section in the taskbar, which shows open programs, it cannot simply be done without hiding the entire taskbar (including system tray icons).

Good luck!

  • In Windows 7, icons in the system tray / notification look area low resolution

Here's a screenshot of my notification area / system tray (whatever it's called now) flying:

As you can see, for some programs look systray icons very low resolution and just plain bad.
I have reviewed the icon for the executable file of these programs and has determined that all of the resolutions of the icon is available (256 x 256, 48 x 48, 32 x 32, 24 x 24, 16 x 16).
I tried to correct the problem by placing a custom in the program directory file app.ico.
    Nothing seems to work.
The resolution of my monitor is correctly defined in the display settings.
I talked to other users of W7 using the same programs and they report that the icons look very well for them.

I'm running a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate on a Lenovo T60 with a 'landscape' theme Windows applied (IE no programs custom theme or something like that).
As a result of this issue, maybe someone could tell me what use the resolution of the Windows icon in the system tray?
    Thank you

in fact you don't have to restore your system, because maybe you have already lived a few weeks with the problem.

    It worked smoothly for me.

    -load a default theme
    -check the advanced appearance settings
-compare the number of dimensions of each element with the decimal version of the 'size' on

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Appearance\New Schemes\Current SaveAll\Sizes\0 settings

-There should be two numbers that do not match (for me were 21 on dialog appearance and 23 in the registry, twice).
-Double-click on the registry value and write what you have on the dialog edit the data type decimal.
    -Repeat for the other incompatibilities
    -close the registry
    -Start the Task Manager
-complete the process explorer.exe (Don't panic)
-menu file, new task run explorer.exe
    -Close Task Manager
    -smile

  • Try to install Windows Vista. When the system starts, I get a black screen with no message and no prompt.

before starting up the plant, black screen

A friend gave me the laptop since they bought a new.  I tried to do a clean install of Windows Vista on a laptop Gateway P6831 FX.  After changing the boot order in the bios settings, the dvd starts to spin.  The only thing that appears on the screen is a screen black/Bank.  I'm never invited with the message 'Press any key to start the installation' to start copying the files for vista.

The Bios recognizes the hard drive (Sata).  I don't know what to do at this point.  Help, please.

I fixed it.  I looked at a few other responses in this forum and used the SATA drivers during the installation of Windows XP.  After that, I've upgraded to Vista.

    Hello

    • How long have you been faced with this problem?
    • What were the changes made before the problem occurred?

    You can view these methods:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to refer to the early stages of this link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/956196#gM1

    Method 2:

Windows wireless and wired network connection problems
  • want the windows defender icon in the system tray

I want a windows Defender icioners!

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

With Ken very valid points, I just want to confirm that Windows Defender will not display an icon.  This is because it is integrated into the center of the Action, which already has an icon: it is the one that looks like a flag.

However, if you are installing Microsoft Security Essentials (and I strongly recommend that do you if you don't have an AntiVirus program), Windows Defender will automatically disabled because MSE offers the same protection (and receives updates from the same source).  However, MSE provides security of AntiVirus (Windows Defender does not protect against viruses).  In addition, MSE integrates into the center of the Action - and can be configured to display its own icon in the taskbar to your preferences.

If it solves your problem, click on the link "Propose as answer" below and vote as useful by clicking on the green triangle for the lelft. Thank you!

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes to the computer when you used the last time? For example, you have installed updates or a program of ny?

    Method 1.
First check to see if there are external devices attached to the computer, if so remove and check.

    Method 2.
    Step A.
Start your computer in safe mode and check if it starts.

    Step B.
If it starts on the desktop in safe mode and then set your computer to the clean boot and check if it starts successfully. If it starts successfully can be a third-party application or service is causing the problem. We can use the approach 50 / 50 to narrow down the root cause of the problem.

See the article below for instructions on how to start your computer in a clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the diagnosis is complete, don't forget to reset your computer to normal startup. Follow step 7 in the above article.

    Method 3.
I recommend you to restore system using a Windows Vista DVD.

    Here's how:
To open the Options menu system recovery using a system repair disc or a Windows Vista installation disc.
If your system is damaged and cannot access the menu system on your computer Recovery Options, you can access it using the Windows Vista installation disc or a system repair disc previously.
To use this method, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the disk.
    a. Insert the disc.
    b. restart your computer using the power button on the computer.
    c. If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer.
    d. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    e. If you are using the Windows installation disc, click on repair your computer.
    f. Select the Windows installation you want to repair, and then click Next.

    g. in the System Recovery Options menu, click a tool to open it and then choose the system restore and check.

For more information see the articles below:

    I hope this helps.

    Hello

The best way is to clean install and start over.

In addition, it is not legal to have both installed version that the license is for a single installation.

If it is a dual boot with 32 bit and 64 bit installed on different partitions, there would not have been the conflicts you would have never started in one or the other.

    See you soon.

  • Remove windows vista without starting the operating system

Hello! IAM using windows vista. Lately, I just figured that the computer has the virus iam so think upgrade to windows7 and I want to remove vista first. Is it possible to remove vista without starting? Sombody help please! Thank you!

    Hello

    1. you must have an operating system to be upgraded; in your case vista

    You cannot delete vista

    2. an upgrade is performed from an operating system of windows in your vista case, unless microsoft advises otherwise; does not apply in your case

solve your problem of malware or clean reinstall vista 1st - then upgrade

Download update and scan with the free version of malwarebytes anti-malware

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

You can also download and run rkill to stop the process of problem before you download and scan with malwarebytes

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

If it does not remove the problem and or work correctly in normal mode do work above in safe mode with networking

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed
