Is it possible to back up my address book preferences or an excerpt?

Hello.

I need to clean my hard drive and pure install El Capitan.

Before I delete it I want to copy the files that recorded information of custom template I created (plist, preference, or other), so after I reinstall I can replace a new one with the old and I need to recreate the model from the beginning.

I managed to do it with Excel, but has not found a way to do it with the address book and preview.

Thanks in advance for any help.

GM

It's always a good idea to have a redundant backup plan.  How to create a clone of startup

The plist of address book is located in the Finder > go > go to folder > copy/paste:

~/Library/preferences/com. Apple.addressbook.plist

If you have Time Machine, you can restore the plist.

or make a copy of the option key and make key drag to the office (and go from there)

I want to save the AddressBook on PC. I can't do it with the Desktop Manager. I don't know why, but it does not work? Is there another possibility?

    Of course you can.

Well, you should be able to do it, but until you're able to explain more clearly what you are doing, so that we can solve the hang up, it is impossible to determine how to help you.

So, you can make a backup with Desktop Manager if you prefer. Then use ABC Amber IPD Converter software (google to find it) to extract the file backup IPD to your address book.

But my first advice is easier.

  • My address book contacts have disappeared since the upgrade to El Capitan. Where are they?

Hi, I upgraded to El Capitan yesterday and all the contacts in my address book Thunderbird disappeared. The AddressBook is completely empty. In addition, he didn't even address on the left hand books, for example "personal address book" etc. My contacts are stored on my computer? If so, where they are located and how can I get back to my address book? I've been adding contacts for a few years. When I compose email, email addresses are auto-fill in the field of composition, so it seems they are still out there? Thank you.

  • How to save your address book

How do I back up my address book.

    Hello

If you open your address book, select all address books on the left side, then select Tools, then export, you have the opportunity to back up the address book in a format, you can restore at a later date.

If you want to make a copy of your address book, select the address book in question (or all address books), and then select file where you will be able to see the address book of Print and Print Preview address book options.

If you want to save your emails and calendar entries, you can take a backup of your Thunderbird profile. You can read how to do that here.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look at another solution for you.

  • Did I lose my address book if I switch to Windows 10 W7?

I did when I went from XP to W7, and I don't want to repeat. Not smart enough to find how to back up my address book on my external hard drive!

I don't know if this will help, but I used export. Open your address book. In the Tools drop-down menu click Export. I recorded it on my external drive of 'E '. You need to give it a name that you will remember. It is an LDIF file. I checked Wikipedia. The file system has been around since the early 1990s. The LDIF file is independent of Windows. Wiki says it's a text file. I opened it in Notepad. I think that you will have no problem. Worst case you can copy and paste the entries in the respective fields there. LDIF type into a Google search field. The Wiki link is there on top.

  • Name/location of the folder containing the address books

I use Microsoft Synctoy to backup critical files on my computer and would like to back up my address book Thunderbird. This is different from exporting it, I think. One of you kind (and certainly more technologically knowledgeable) people can tell me how to locate the folder that contains my address books? Thank you!

The linked article indicates the Mab etc. 1.are books that you created in addition to the two books by default. These are staff and books collected.

  • Several "personal address book" in the Contacts

As you can see from the screenshots, I have several "personal address book" in the Contacts. Right click on any address book of Contacts and remove it is gray. I have a gMail address book, a special group, I created and collected, too.

So I have several abook.mab displaying in Windows Explorer; one is 56KO, others are 2kmb. If I move the files, they are recreated everytime I run the application of TB.

It started when I restored a profile in a clean install of TB. How can I solve this further?

No additional input or suggestion so I backed up my address book, uninstalled TB, reinstalled TB and imported the .csv backup. This solves the problem, as can be expected.

Too bad, it was necessary that I had to create, download, and reset all.

  • Backup of the address book database

I do not understand how do I back up my address book from my office (Snow Leopard) to my laptop (Snow Leopard).  Is no longer a "backup database" command.

Help address book is singularly vague with its various references to MobileMe, vCards, etc.

Could a wise old OWL if you please enlighten me.

Clarifying question - backup or copy to use with the address book on the other computer? Try to open the address book, select the contacts you want (hold down the SHIFT key or command to select multiple contacts), and then file/export as vCards. On the other computer, to load into the address book, file/import.

  • import an address book file, no contacts Hatem

As it is a problem for at least 5 years.  Apple still has not prepared to be resolved (too busy I think to make money on iphones and whatnot).

In any case, to back up my address book.  Imported into my address book on another Mac.  Surprise, surprise, no contacts.

So, how can we get the addresses from an address book on one Mac to another... Yes, iCloud, but that's not the answer because Apple export/import function address apparently does not.

    Any ideas out there?

    Thank you.

  • Problems with Outlook Express (address book, mail open, etc.)

Hi, I have a strange problem with my outlook express. The program opens ok, it synchronize the e-mail with the servers and so on. If you click on an email in the upper part of the window you can see the content below.
Now, this is my problem, I can not doubleclick on an email to open it, I can't send an email or forward it. I can't open the address book.
I get different messages, "it was not possible to open the address book, it cannot be installed correctly", "the message could not be opened, an error has occurred", "it was not possible to load the due address book that Outlook Express is not properly configured. Reinstall Outlook Express"and so on.
I used this software for many years and the problem came from one day to the other. I tried to uninstall/reinstall the program from the Control Panel, I did a repair on XP installation, but it is always the same, is there anyone who has an idea (I know that Outlook Express is and old program, but it works very well for my needs).

    What about Nils

First, try a new identity and see if that helps.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

All of these errors have the same cause.  Something is screwed up with your address book.

It could be several specific problems, which include:

    Or:

  • Last night my operating system not found a set file and reloaded among other Outlook express things - is it possible to recover the address book, folders and emails?

Last night my operating system not found a set file and reloaded among other Outlook express things - is it possible to recover the address book, folders and emails?

    original title: Outlook Express problem

    Hi John,.

Try to locate your data from outlook express:

    Click on start-> Run & paste-> %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities

You will see the folders as {xxxxxx-xxxx-xxx-xx-xxxxxxxxxxxx} click-> Microsoft-> Outlook Express, you should be able to locate the DBX files, these are the outlook database files. Ideally, you should see inbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbx... check the size of the file.

Now to get it back on outlook express, open outlook express-> click on tools-> Options-> maintenance-> the storage location.

Click on change location, and then select the location that you have your data in.

For the address book, see: click Start-> Run and paste the following:

    %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

Address book with wab extension, these should reflect your Outlook Express user name.

    I hope this helps.
