Is it possible to retrieve e-mails from an Outlook Express to the new computer running Windows Live Mail somehow.

Original title: transfer emails to new computer

Pls is it possible to somehow retrieve the emails from an Outlook Express account on a broken computer to transfer to my new computer which runs Windows Live Mail or do I need to get the old computer fixed? Thank you very much

You are welcome. If you can get the files from hard drive accessible, here's what you need to know.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

V-2011/2012: Menu button. Import Messages. Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP the OE User (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

It depends on what e-mail program, you will use in Win7. He was not an '' integrated '', as previous versions of Windows.

If you on Windows Live Mail, that would be the answer.

  • How to get back the My MSN page as my default with all of my mail, Favorites, etc. ? I have a new computer running windows 7.

I have a Verizon Fios connection.  My old computer and hard drive are slaughtered.  However, my favorites, etc. were transferred to the good folder on my new computer.  I can't the butterfly on my desk?  The main thing I want is to come back to my mail.  It would be nice to get my homepage even without having to do it again.  I would still have my account with the same user name and password - I just can't understand how to access it.  I also have nothing to do with Windows Live.  Help, please.

Thank you once again, but I solved the problem in the meantime.  I found myself on a verizon site which had a robot named Frank who provided the download that I needed.  I started to www.verizon.net/micro/betterway , but had to submit to certain fluctuations so that he can understand that Windows 7 has met their minimum requirements.  I now have the butterfly on my desk, and all my mail, Favorites, homepage and addresses are intact.  Anyone else with this problem should go on the verizon site, press the help button and tell Frank the robot you want a 'Verizon Broadband with download MSN for Windows 7".

    Hello

Did you do a clean install or custom Windows vista installation?

If you did a custom installation, then you should find .wab file in the Windows.old folder. Outlook Express stores contacts in a file to the address book of Microsoft Windows® with the .wab extension.

  • Possible to recover files on an old hard drive using the new computer?

Hi, my old computer CPU fried making UN usable. I just bought a custom P6150t of hp and I was wondering if there is some way I can install the old Hard drive in the computer I just bought. I really want to stay away from the team of geek or something that's going to cost me a lot of money. Any suggestions?

It is certainly possible, in fact, it should be fairly simple how experienced you are with computers. Hand, you have a few options I can think. Was of course since I am not aware of what kind of hard drive in your old computer, you will probably need to buy an additional cable\cord\connector to connect to the motherboard, and if it is an old IDE drive, you can buy an IDE to SATA as one of them.

This is all assuming you want to keep the hard drive installed on the PC. And although it may sound intimidating or difficult to do, it's really not! If you can put some screws with a screwdriver, you will be able to install the old drive if your new PC. Simply enter the model number of your PC to the HP drivers & support web page or click on the following link: upgrade and repair, (this is for the model number you provided) read the first couple pages & then proceed to PDF page #17. Read & review the instructions once in a relationship, print out the instructions if necessary, collect tools (flat head screwdriver & anti-static bracelet), then just follow instructions & take your time paying attention to the illustrations. It is frankly less work & easier than typing all of this out.

Either way, you can easily connect to your computer must use one of these: existingUSB-adapters IDE that allows you to directly access a device of ATA/ATAPI IDE interface. Everything is a matter of preference and what you are comfortable doing.  To find these items I already mentioned, just google 'em and either find a computer store nearby and investigate with them or order from a decent distributor in your country for the best prices. Overall, there are many more options that I've listed here, but they are all relatively will do the same thing; that is the type of player, you must convert a USB cord. Hope this helps! Good luck!! -tmt-

  • How can I get my Outlook Express folders to new Windows Live Mail

my old XP computer has blown the motherboard.  Hard drive is OK.  Bought the new computer using Windows LIve Mail.   I transferred 'My Documents' folder to the new computer.  How can I get my files from the old computer to the new Windows Live Mail Outlook Express when the old computer does not work?

Assuming you have the message OE together on the new computer store, (the OE message store is hidden in XP in Documents and Settings, not my Documents), then go to the next topic. If you still have questions, continue your problem here.
