Is it possible to upgrade memory hard drive?

I'm just trying to see if I can move on to more memory on the hard drive of my computer or if I just need to go buy an external hard drive?

Hi tnof77,

Hard disks have "cache" memory but thats all and it cannot be upgraded. While the cache is important, that the amount of space on the hard drive is the main point of Director. If you run out of space hard drive then, Yes, you need to either buy a hard drive more "internal" or, if you only need additional space for the files etc, an external hard drive. • Pavilion 15-n070sw: is it possible to upgrade a hard drive in this model?

    Hello

I have a Pavilion 15-n070sw (no longer under warranty) and was wondering about upgrading my drive ssd hard drive. However I noticed some users report problems of compatibility between this model and ssd drive (+ there is no option to set the AHCI mode in the BIOS settings...). Because I don't want to invest in a reader, that I won't be able to use, I wanted to check here - this model will support an SSD?

Thank you very much in advance for clearing that for me!

    M

Yes it will absolutely accept an SSD. There is no need to mess with the BIOS as the definition of only for storage controller's ahci. Could not set it to something else if you want. Windows 7 and above will simply TRIM and NCQ which is what you need for the optimization of the SSD. A lot of tutorials out there comes from another era, when it was harder to get a job of SSD. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Pages 63-70 are the 'how' to remove the top cover and replace the hard drive with a 2.5-inch SSD SATA. I can recommend a Samsung 850 Evo as best consumer SSD, but many others is good and you can shop for an agreement.

The trick to that prepared in advance how you reinstall Windows clean install from a Windows system image backup or clone. All are viable options, but have their own procedures and pitfalls. We can help with that.

  • Laptop HP DM1 - possible to update SSD hard drive?

I have a laptop DM1, very slow.  Just wondering if it is possible to upgrade the hard drive to SSD - which means it'll work.   Went through the plug technique, said he can only support 320 GB hard drive (which is weird), but the SSD come as low as 64 GB, so that's fine.  I've already updated the ram to 2 GB, but it is still slow.

See page 45 of the HP DM1 Service Manual here:

    Your manual

It has an easy access door and uses the 9.5 or 7 mm thickness SATA drives and standard of 2.5 inches wide, so it will not be a problem to upgrade to an SSD. After if you need assistance with migration/relocation of software or select a good reasonably priced at SSDS.

  • Computer HP Desktop M1188A upgraded the HARD drive and memory upgrade possible

    Hello

I have a HP Desktop M1188A running XP Media Center 2005.  The computer runs very slowly and was only 27.6 GB of free space left on the hard drive with a total area of 149GB.  It has 512 MB of memory installed a 4 GB maximum.  Speed supported is PC3200 MB/sec.  Type of DDR.  DIMM slots 4.  160 GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive.  Fact hard drive 160 GB 7200 RPM SATA means it is a SATA connection?

I want to switch the HARD disk like this I hope that the computer runs faster.  I'm a complete novice with respect to the operation of computers.  What to buy to upgrade the HARD drive?

Will it also upgrade the installed memory?  If so, what to do?

    Everything I need to know?

    Thank you.

    See you soon,.

    Michelle,

Try for battery HP to THE Bing search engine, I found several sites in line with the Chargers and batteries. BattDepot Australia seems to have decent prices... At$ 24.49 for the loader and THE $37,49 for battery. If you have not yet checked the HP battery reminder page, I recommend you do this first.

  • Upgrade the hard drive in MacBook Pro?

Basically what the title says. I saw a site that allows you to send to your MacBook and have offered improved storage I didn't I was going to need it because I wasn't going to do a lot on this computer. Push comes to shove and now "other" it took all the space on my computer (even almost not kidding) got the base model MacBook Pro 120 GB and from this moment other takes 111 GB of the 120 GB. I did try everything possible to delete files, but nothing works. I downloaded an application cleaning and there is absolutely nothing. So if you can recommend someone who proposes to upgrade my hard drive, which would be greatly appreciated.

Side note:, I tried looking for the site but only find tutorials on how to do it myself and I have myself enough confidence to open this computer and storage upgrade.

The application of cleaning plant was a mistake.  Each of them can damage your MBP.  Go to the web site of developers for instructions to uninstall and delete it.

Here is the definition of the OTHER:

Sometimes a re-indexing of Spotlight will correct:

Download the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all your files and respective sizes. Transfer to an external HARD disk or remove files, that you no longer want on your MBP.

Don't forget to empty the trash. Then only the space is allocated for the new data.

  • Upgrade the hard drive or the new laptop

I currently own a mid-2010 Macbook Pro that works well (Apple store ran all the checks and he said everything was good), but there almost six years and I don't want to die any time soon (I need a laptop for school). I do not use the mac for something other than Microsoft Office, several tabs on browser, iTunes and occasionally streaming of netflix (just the basics, no game or something serious). Someone has advice or comments on what would be best? And if upgrading the hard drive seems to be a good option, does anyone have good recommendations?

Here are the specs of my Mac:
-Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
    -Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    -Hard drive: 500 GB storage

In addition, Yosemite (10.10.5) running on the machine without any problem even if it is sometimes slow.

    Thank you!

Use it as it is. Why update the drive? If you run lack of storage space on the disk, delete some files or get an external drive and move some files on the external drive. Make sure that you back up your data.

If I upgrade the hard drive on my HP G62-149WM to a 750 GB drive (or maybe a 1 to) and use the factory purchased the set of recovery disks, it will install the recovery (hidden) on the disk partition, or not?  What IS the recovery partition, it will install (if installed)?

    Hello

You can certainly move to a 750 GB 5400 RPM HARD drive, a 1 TB would also be possible, but it is not listed as a compatible hdd in a service guide. After a reset, the laptop will be in the same condition that you used for the first time (OS preinstalled). The recovery partition is going to be on the hard drive as well. Size is not too large, I think that it would be up to 15-20 GB...

  • Is it possible to replace the hard drive with an SSD? or would it be too expensive?

Is it possible to replace the hard drive with an SSD?

or would it be too expensive?

Yes.  There are several alternatives.  I found a way relatively inexpensive, using a map of mSATA (very small SSD) and an adapter to connect it to the connector IDE 44 pin internal of my PowerBook.  It works very well.  Rather than repeat what I posted previously, you can watch these two topics (which also has good info, other users)

  • upgrade the hard drive on Presario 17XL365

Inherited this machine recently and I was wondering if I can upgrade the hard drive.  He got a Hitachi DK23BA-15 which is ATA - 66.  But I read that the chipset of the motherboard will be ' interface with ATA/66 hard drives in UDMA 2 mode "-a description of the site intel (North 82443BX/South 82371EB).  Intel® 440BX AGPset.

So my question is, any laptop drive ide or eide will work with this?  Or I need to find a player who is specificially ATA-66.  Any info on the momentum and the size limitations would also be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

It's a record of 4200 RPM 15 gigabytes. You can use any portable player of up to 120 gig eide, but not anymore. Anyway, you would benefit from a rotational speed of 5400 RPM which is what you can find in the market these days, but will not improve your ATA - 66 maximum transfer speed. The most recent ATA - 100 or 133 readers interfacera just at the speed of 66 but faster speed of rotation of the drive will always access same time help lower transfer speed if that makes sense.

The number of ATA - 66 is just the maximum theoretical speed, which you reach rarely, in any case.

Thanks for these videos. It may be useful to replace the memory, but I think that the owners of the laptop should not open the case. This may void the warranty.

  • Upgrade the hard drive on 1900-303

After loyal service for 3 years, my pc is need a larger hard drive. I easily removed and put back in place. Is it possible to put a big H/D say 60 or 80 Gig to replace the 30 GB I have now. If so would I just need to use the recovery discs, I realize, I have to back up all files and reinstall programs, what else I have to do, i.e. the parameters of the bios etc. Does anyone know a provider number part etc.

    Thank you
    Russell.

    Hi Russell,

It is perfectly possible to replace your hard drive with a larger capacity version. I recently replaced the 30 GB drive in my SA30 with a 80 GB model (a Toshiba MK8025GAS). Your BIOS should auto-detect the new drive when you first start the system, and you have already identified, you need to backup your data first, unless you use a product such as Norton Ghost backup.

There are several internet retailers who can provide a suitable training. I bought my go: -.

They delivered the new drive at 09:45 the next day of the day where I placed the order. Carefully recommended.

  • Upgrade Z60m Hard drive

    Hi all

I plan to upgrade the hard drive in my z60m, a Seagate momentus 7200.4, essentially because it's in the final list of the firmware update I could find.

I created the ISO disc for the verification of updates of the firmware of the HARD drive and checked my current drive, it works.

I intend to install windows on the new drive using the restore discs, after which I will manually install the updates for all drivers and all the files that I use regularly.

My question is when should I use the ISO HDD firmware update program. I'm not buying my IBM HARD drive and understand that the update of the firmware may not work, but at what point should I try. I thought to install the new hard drive and then run the firmware update software before you install the OS from the restore disks. Is this true or do I have to update the firmare HDD after that I installed the original image on the new hard drive?

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum!

Firmware update is really not so much a big deal, you can do it from a bootable CD before installing the operating system, or at any time after that you installed. It really won't do much difference anyway.

    Good luck.

  • Is it possible to partition the hard drive by using software like Partition Master, install XP and an earlier version of Office on the new partition?

Partitioning of a Windows 7 computer

On a laptop Windows 7 HP, it is possible to partition the hard drive by using software like Partition Master, install XP and an earlier version of Office on the new partition? I know I can run Win7 XP mode, but many prefer a base XP environment. Yes, I have new copies unregistered XP and Office 2003.

    TIA,

    Steve

Besides Partition Master you can also use Windows 7 "Disk Managment" to shrink the partition of Windows 7, create a new partition of the space "unallocated", and then do a formatting NTFS "Full".
