Is it safe to remove the old updates in Windows Vista?
Generally, no.
You can use the program compcln.exe to remove the Service pack files and to perpetuate a service pack, as described here:
http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=2592038
This program is in C:\Windows\System32
You can uninstall the updates that have been replaced by a later update, but I don't know of an easy way to identify them. I don't think that in doing so, there is a great advantage.
If you uninstall an update that is still necessary, he will be released the next time that WIndows Update is running.

Is it ok to remove the old Windows updates as I have many of them take a lot of disk space?
I have several updates of microsoft for a few years. I am auto update, but all the old updates are still there. Is it necessary to keep or to delete to free up space. I get warnings that the computer is low on virtual memory.
original title: is it OK to remove the old windows updates as I have many of them taking place?Virtual memory is used only when your physical memory has been exhausted. This happens usually either when you have not restarted recently, or when you have too many programs running at the same time. I suggest you reboot at least once a week and if it continues to happen, a purchase more RAM.

adding new files or remove the old Windows Media Player files. (Vista)
Since June 2010, I was not able to add new files or remove the old Windows Media Player files. I can click on a new file and play using WMP or add to a playlist that is currently playing, but it does not recognize that it was added after as I close the program and re-open it. Or I can delete the files that no longer exist on my computer but WMP always has them as my files. When I click on add new media, it recognizes the right amount of files I would be adding, says to add them and then nothing is there.
Your media library has probably been corrupted. To reset, follow the instructions for WMP 11 Vista at http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#medialibrary . Note the reset of the library will make you lose all the counts to play and possibly ratings too. Tim Baets

How can I remove the old Windows folder to a different drive?
Original title: Old files Windows, Program Files, etc.
I tried to use before Disk Cleanup and it worked, and I haven't run a complete installation.
I'm having a problem now, this time, and I did a full install. Disk Cleanup doesn't show any options to remove an old Windows as it did before.
How can I remove the old Windows folder to a different drive? I also try to remove the Program Files folder, as well as with an implementation since.
It is showing an error message "I need to be in the Administrators group ~", and that TrustedInstaller is owner of the present.
I have a question that "TrustedInstaller" has full authority on the file system, and 'Administrators' has limited access.
I noticed that there are other three to make a total of four names of users who have all or nearly full access to the file system.
Can it be fixed... it's pretty annoying to see this continue..., strictly through Windows Update.
I look forward to your reply.

I just reinstalled windows and I now have in my C drive a Windows.old and a Windows.Old.000 folder that is developing a massive 65GB of space, I really need, but when I try to delete it it says I need administrator permission to continue and I support on continue but it just comes back to the top again and I even tried to change the owner for me but it always happens with this message. How can I remove them?
Hello
After you are sure that you have copied all the files you want from this folder, use the Disk Cleanup Wizard to remove the folder.
1. click on Start, type Disk Cleanup in the box start the search . In the results, click on disk cleanup right-click and select run as administrator option.
2. in the Disk Cleanup Options dialog box, select the drive where Windows 7 is installed, and then click OK.
3. click OK to analyze the C: drive.
4. Click to select the previous Windows installation check box and any other files you want to delete.
5. click on OK.

When is it safe to remove the old updates and patches recover disk space?
I have a LONG list of updates from windows to windows xp, Media Player, microsoft, etc. in a way at the time where I got first computer and set on automatic updates. I'm sure that they consume valuable disk space but how do I know which ones can be deleted without problem?
Never. If you remove them, it defeats the purpose of the patch/security updates. Your calculation returns to a previous state vulnerable.
If you need space, get an external hard drive for all of your data.

My computer shows that my 'C' drive is almost full and advised me to transfer some of the programs on. But going through the list, I discovered that most of the proms has in my 'C' drive are windows, most programs had been updated but with different codes. I want to transfer or delete, but I don't know which of them can be done safely without affecting my computer work?
ConcerningPhilip TanHello PhilipTanams,
You will not be able to move the files to the C: drive on another drive Windows. All Windows files must be in the C: drive.
Method 1:
If you have personal files or data, you can move these files to another drive that increases the size of the C: drive by adding
Method 2:If you have any other partition which has an empty space in it, you can extend the C: drive by adding the empty spaces to the C: drive.
See the links to find out how to extend the partition of drive.

removal of the old windows updates
on my window vista home basic on disk-D computer were my new and find the old windows updates, I only 21.8 gigabits of 69.5 gigabites
remaining. whenever I get windows updates and install them I have less memory remaining on this drive. my windows updates go all the way back to 2008
When I bought the computer. Every month I do a backup on dvd. I don't store objects like photo, games or other long-term files.
My question is it possible or safe to delete the old windows backup? I do a daily cleaning of windows.
Is there anyone who can help me with this problem so I don't run out of space on the disc-D?Hello
You do not remove the "old" Windows updates.
If you do, you lose the performance and the improvements in security that they give and you put your computer at risk of breaking or be infected by malware...
See you soon.

Here you go:
- Control Panel
- Network and sharing Center
- Manage wireless networks.
- Right click on the wireless network unwanted.
- Delete
Also note that since there is a network problem, a Forum that focuses on networking would be a better place to ask this question. This forum addresses issues of Windows security. -
