is iyogi support - safe?

When I was unable to access the Microsoft customer support to solve problems screen and internet, I went to the internet and access an India based company that has solved my problem, but installed a program called iyogi.  Is this safe or have I invited in the biggest problems?  They took remotely on my computer for Diagnostics and repair processes.

If you search these forums for answers, you will find 5 other references to iyogi.  These might be worth a visit.

Then there's also the for and against customers of Google, but don't forget that these service companies routinely employ shills trying to sell their goods both on the net in general and even here on the Microsoft answers forums.

I trust contributions from users of the Web of trust mainly as a source of information and the recommendation for service providers and web:

You should talk with the people who make the software iYogi Support Dock.  I don't know if it's http://www.supportdock.com/ or http://www.iyogi.com/5702965/computer-support.html?gclid=CMrB4feZurACFcIUKgod3hzg8w, I can't say.  Personally, I would not use this software.

  • Iyogi support?

I recently bought a laptop computer Vostro and had very little time after problems in that the screen was frozen. I called Dell technical support line and connected to iyogi in India. They said that the problems are software related and there are files on the PC causing the problem most likely caused by accessing the Web sites. They explained that they were common to most Web sites. I agreed to take a software contract and they said that would solve all my problems of software. I had a similar problem today and got a different technician who told me I needed a piece of software that would cost me 69 euros after Euro 139 2 days ago! I am now suspect that it is a bit of a scam and am also worried that my PC and passwords can be compromised. Why Dell use this company. Their good faith is true. Has anyone else had a similar experience or knows something about iYogi.

    Hi teamcolours,

My apologies for the inconvenience caused. Dell has terminated its contract with iYogi effective January 11, 2012 and is no longer associated. Please let us know of the issue that you are facing with the system, I'll be happy to help you.

Also, if you need assistance according to the iYogi contract you purchased, you can contact technical support at 877-276-1590/1277 iYogi. These number are applicable to the United States.

Answer please if you have any questions.

  • wireless router not working do not: told by iYogi technical support for wireless router Netgear that my registry is corrupt

My Netgear wireless router (model: N300 wireless (WNR2000v3) router wireless) has stopped working properly without Internet access for my laptop (there was a triangle 'yellow' small 'i' (exclamation point) on the Wi - Fi signal strength indicator in the lower right corner of my computer screen.).  I bought only the router ago 3 months 25/08/2012.  Netgear technical assistance is really "iYogi technical support.  After more than 3 hours, Abdullah, Tech support person had me change what I think are 'DNS' settings for the router, and it now the next day, Thursday, November 15, 2012, works very well, "so far".

My question is this.  The "iYogi tech support" person said, after took my computer during the process of fixing my problem, I had 9% of my corrupt computer registry files and I need to have a computer system 'optimize' made, then I wouldn't have the same problem with the router, and other problems with my computer, in the future.  The service would cost me $150 with 1 year tech support 24/7 from "iYogi" (support for Netgear tech. company) or $50 to do it once.  There was a LOT of pressure to pay then and not wait a day or more so I could think my 90 days of Netgear Tech. Free support ends on Thursday, November 22, 2012.  The person of 'iYogi technical support', Abdullah, said that because my Toshiba laptop has 4 GB of RAM and the Netgear wireless router has a very small RAM, then in a near future the problem could happen again and I have to pay a lot of money for the correction of a problem including my registry corrupted 9% of my Windows 7 (Home Premium (64-bit) with Service Pack 1).

I had no problems with my computer that I've known since the purchase of this new about 2 years (a portable satellite youcef) ago.

I have to have my system "optimized"?  My really register 9% damaged and if yes, is this normal or do I need to have it fixed?

I was wondering if I had another brand of a router (for example the Linksys), I have the same problem?

I would be grateful to anyone who helps to answer my questions and all the other advice on this subject.

Thank you, or anyone in advance for all your help.

    Kind regards

    CCEntertain2M

"Registry was damaged and needed optimization" - complete garbage, if the registry is damaged the PC does not start, the registry requires no optimization, third party that claims to optimize the registry software is snake oil and in the worst cases can make the system unusable.

Usually if you have a router problem appear, of the first steps would be to reboot the router (unplug his pwr for a minute) and re start the PC. These steps are usually all that is necessary.

  • Iyogi has contacted me and said that I have to pay $199 to continue my contract or my system will crash. Is it a scam?

    Windows web site

I was contacted by someone from India, IYOGI, that if I send them $199.00 my Windows contract will expire and my computer will crash! is it a scam?

    Hello RichardBurdick,

You have a support contract with Microsoft? AFAIK IYOGI is a group of independent support (worldwide) in India sites. They have nothing to do with Microsoft. and that's probably another scam.

Unless you have a direct contract with Microsoft support no Microsoft never will contact you about problems with your PC.

They tried to tell you that you had problems with your PC and they can fix if you have followed there instructions. They probably said something about open or by opening event viewer run and then typing in a command?

There are a lot of these scams around, do not fall for them. Never let them access to your PC.

Only you know if you have already paid FRO a support contract. If you do not, then it is a scam to make you part with your money.

  • BIOS update failed on Tecra R10 with Windows7

    Hello

I have problems with the update the BIOS of my Tecra R10J. The current version is 1.4, and I want to upgrade to 3.0, so I downloaded from the Toshiba web site the good file named "P006Cv300.exe" 2009-11-04 released. It is an update of the BIOS online in a real session of Windows 7. Simply right click the compress exe, click Run as admin and that is all, but... for me, he said:
    * "[Error] the start of the service was abandoned. The user doesn't have administrative privileges. "

    See below:
    http://perso.Orange.fr/100Mo/bioserror.jpg

    I tried with:
    -closed AV, firewall, etc...
    -turn off UAC
    -Run as administrator
    -Tried with another admin account
-Safe mode (update of the bios doesn't support safe mode)
    -lead the local administrator session

No change. Always the message "user lacks administrative privileges."
Need help please, found nothing on Google (similar but not resolved Bios problem!)

    Thank you

    Hey ignore them,

As Akuma has already written the added value Package must be installed for BIOS update for the BIOS to read system information correctly. Besides, the VAP is needed for special functions such as the FN keys so it must be installed.

It would be interesting to know what is happening with the factory settings. I guess that your computer laptop wasn t ship with Windows 7, but with Vista and you should try it with Vista.

    Welcome them

  • LAPAC1750 Number of SSL

I recently bought a LAPAC1750 (version non PRO), and I try to install my own generated SSL certificate automatically in the unit. I used my certificate on several other devices with no problems, but it will not simply install on this access point. I get no error message when I try to install it. It does not seem to be accepted. I tried to install using the two local PC & TFTP options, but neither work. When I clear the diagnosis of AP log, I see that the original certificate of Linksys is still in use. Some relevant info of my certificate:

    Version: V3

    Signature algorithm: SHA512RSA

    Signature algorithm hash: SHA512

    Public Key: RSA (2048 Bits)

When I interogate the certificate of Linksys, I noticed that the signature algorithm is SHA1RSA, and is (1 024 Bits) RSA public key.

This access point does not support safer SHA512 signature algorithm, or key of 2048 bits long?

I think that the LAPAC1750 does not support certificates 2048 as the LRT.

  • After getting scammed by some fake tech support... is my computer still safe to use? __

After getting scammed by some fake tech support... my computer is still safe to use?

More than two places to check (the second is obviously only valid if you are using Windows Firewall; if you use a third party firewall instead, see your user's guide or the help system application for how to manage exceptions to the firewall blocking rules):

Control Panel > system > Remote tab

    make sure that no

"Allow Remote Assistance invitations sent from this computer".
    or
"Allow users to connect remotely to this computer".

    are checked.

Control Panel > Windows Firewall > exceptions tab

Browse products "programs and services" and make sure that the only items that are checked are the application you WANT to be able to pass through the Windows Firewall

  • Is it safe to remove the desktop icons rest after a support session remotely Microsoft Tech Support?

    Hello everyone,

Some time back I had experienced problems with Windows Update continually advising me the KB2538242 was ready to be installed.  After a lot of hassle, I finally got help from Support staff technical Microsoft through 3 sessions of Assistance to solve the problem remotely.

At the end of the last session, there were several icons left on my desk. (A couple of the names associated with the icons are: desktop.ini & redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ MFC 2005).   Some are .exe files and some are presented as folders.

My question: is there a way to HIDE these icons so that they will be displayed on the desktop, without actually delete files / folders / applications, icons are associated with?

(I'd forgotten there is no way to attach a screenshot (jpeg file) from my office, so everyone could see the icons I want to talk).

Thanks for your time and any clarification on this subject!

    Pete C

    Hi cpsi1,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft answers community.
It is safe to delete the icons stored on computer support.
  • My photos and video are not supported due to safe mode (I think)

I went in safe mode to move around 3 000 files, photos and videos of user account 1 and account 2 to 2 office in a folder called 'FILES2KEEP '. When I rebooted my computer to check on the photos, I could not see most of the miniatures, and even with some still visible, when I tried to open windows photo gallery said, "Photo Gallery can't open this photo or video. This file format is not supported, or you do not have the latest updates to the photo gallery. "For the videos, I received the error message 2048 after them playing with QuickTime player. These files were not deleted somehow, just moved from one region to another in safe mode. The sizes of these photos and videos are normal and their respective sizes. I decided to place these files in normal mode and then restarted my computer, however, nothing has worked. I sill have the folder "FILES2KEEP" on desktop 2, but without the files user account. This could be the cause this and what are the several ways to address this issue?

(Note: I'm running on Windows Vista Edition complete with Service Pack 2)

Safe mode was probably not the cause, but the files are permanently damaged and need to be restored from your most recent backup.  The files may have been damaged during the move, but which is unlikely because move files only changes their display location, the tracks on the disc do not actually move.

You could try checking the errors on your drives, the 'answer' to this page explains how: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-system/chkdsk-utility/4f46929e-db2d-43e0-88c4-a3a5c49bb2da

  • Full of drive C, the file in the C drive formats are not supported. What is safe to delete?

my c drive is full of 98%. I need to know what is safe to delete. There are several files that I can't open w / anything on my computer. It says no file type supported or could be corrupted. How can I find out what type of file they borrow?

    Teresa

When we look at the available disk space on any partition C you must take into account all the partitions and you did not provide the information necessary to conduct a review. Please provide a copy of your system information file. Type system information in the search box above the Start button and press ENTER. Select file, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Please download your disk from sky to share with everyone and post a link here. Please say if the report was obtained in safe mode.
