    Hi-

I removed the Toshiba W98SE and installed Win 2000 (new installation). I managed to put it on the audio driver using downloads on your website (and it works).

I do a test on the dial installation upward and that you have installed the modem also since your website (Conexant Soft K56 Data, Fax PCI Modem). This is intended for W98SE but microsoft message is

The port looks ok. Please advise - is it the right driver?

    Thank you.

A Windows 98 driver does not work on Windows 2000. Therefore, you need a new driver for Windows 2000.

I have checked the Toshiba site but your model no available Windows 2000 driver exists.
I think you have to search the site of the factory of the modem. Maybe you can find a driver or another portable model that has the same modem.

    Good luck!

I finally found the guilty service.

It was pcmonitor monitor/remote control software. Once I stopped it is service vmware converter could get the capacity of the physical drives.

It is rather curious because I made several servers P2V conversions using this software (so far the last one two weeks ago - the difference between that server and this one was that the first was not a domain controller).

Hopefully this thread will help others in the future.

    Hello.

When you get to the third tab called "View/Edit Options", choose the Edit option for 'Data to copy.'  Then choose the option advanced at the end of the menu "data copy type" and then use the options on the page layout tab target to assign separate discs.

  • path exists not - P2V windows 2000

    Hi all

    Hows things?

Got an unusual who can't seem to understand. Wrecking my head now for 2 hours, and due to this converation to virtual at 13:00.

I have vmware converter 3.0.3 installed on a server, I am sign in a physical windows 2000. It connects to the property and lists all disks.

I'm stuck at step 2 name and destination. Enter the name of the virtual machine but the location seems to be looking for a shared area to throw. Maybe I did something wrong, but I'm trying just to virtulize the box and put it in our vmware environment.

I've attached screenshots showing the steps I took to get to the error.

Any help would be great as always.

The 4.0.1 Converter supports Windows 2000, try it. HTH

  • Network does not work after Windows 2000 SP4 P2V

It has been a roller coaster get this virtualized machine.

A little history: this machine is Windows 2000 SP 4 with update Rollup 1. After you install the Update Rollup 1, virtualization tried it and it gets to 97% and then I get the message error "vmware agent has encountered an error. When I try to start the machine, I get a BSOD with error inaccessible_boot_device.

After reading some discussions fo I found a solution of reconfiguing the virtual machine then it will start. So now, I have a virtual machine that will start.

Now my problem is that networks do not work. I removed the network card, has added a new, tried static and dhcp, through the Add/Remove programs and uninstalled all the devices HP and Compaq, went into Device Manager and deleted all drivers HP and Compaq or component, rebooted countless times and I am still ending up with no network connectivity.

The network card on the computer virtual says it is connected and he says is to receive, but not send. It is not pulling a DHCP address and a static address gets no where also.

I have more than 50 virtual machines so I know this isn't a problem with my network, it must be on the virtual machine itself. I don't know what else to try, and I'm open to suggestions.

    Thank you!

Have you tried to repair the winsock?

    1. Go in Start > run, type: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

    2. Restart your computer and you're done.

    3. Follow the steps below if you have XP SP2 (this only works on windows XP SP2 and later versions).

    4. Go to regedit.

    5. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services

    6. Click on Winsock and Delete.

    7. Click on Winsock2 and Delete.

    8. Close registry.

    9. Restart your computer

    10. Access the properties of the LAN connection

    11. Click the install button in the Properties window

    12. Select PROTOCOL, and then click the Add button.

    13. Click the disk...

    14. Type C:\windows\inf\nettcpip.inf in the dialog box, and click OK.

    15. Choose from the list of INTERNET TCP/IP PROTOCOL in the list, and then click OK.

    16. Click CLOSE.

    17. Restart your computer. (At this point the Winsock is complete)
not only avoid this problem from happening in the future, but also
to make the process much easier you update Windows.)

  • Satellite 1605cds: RAM has not reported in Windows 2000

    Hello

    I have a 2nd hand Toshiba Satellite 1605cds/4.3 (amd k6-2 450 mhz basic system).
It has 32 MB of ram on board and a dimm slot - so put in a memory of 128 MB.

But I read this Web page:

    http://fandelem.com/toshiba2.html

where it says it can be improved with a 256 MB memory module!

I have it plugged in and it correctly sees 288 MB (32 MB onboard 256 MB on housing) in the bios.
When I boot from the partition of Windows 98 Second edition, it shows the 288 amount of ram.

.. .but when I boot on the partition of Windows 2000 Professional, it displays a blue screen saying that the bios is not an improved ACPI bios. It says that I have to push the F7 key during the installation of Windows 2000 to disable ACPI and install HAL.

But if I remove the 256 MB slot, Windows 2000 starts correctly without any problem.

I tried to reinstall Windows 2000 by pushing the F7 key during installation, but then Windows 2000 shows that the 32 MB of ram.

So, what can I do to run Windows 2000 and 256 MB module?
The bios is the last that can be downloaded on the web page of toshiba.

Thanks to all and sorry for my English.

    Hello

According to your description W2k said to update the layer HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer). In Windows 2000, there are several ways to solve the problems associated with the material (HAL, Hardware Abstraction Layer) Abstraction layer that may occur due to bad detection, an obsolete or non compliant Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) or incorrectly installed computer type or manually.

For more information, please see this Microsoft support site:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/237556

But as I know Toshiba supports the 128 MB only on this unit and if you want to use more ram you can do at your own risk!

You are unable to download any version of Windows.  You must contact the computer manufacturer that built your computer and install Windows 2000 on it to see if you can get a copy of their share.  I highly doubt you will be able to because Windows 2000 is entirely not taken in charge since 2005.

So on to plan B, ugh: I downloaded the demo of VMWare Workstation 7 Pro, installed, saved the windows.iso that accompanies it, uninstalled, reinstalled VMWare Player 7, put the windows.iso in the root of VMWare Player installation on the host computer, modified my version 7 W2K VM settings so that my virtrual DVD player had the ISO mounted, booted up the virtual machine then I started the installation (setup.exe) tools of the virtual DVD.   (You mind, making a Manage / reinstall VMWare Tools will just try to shout to the update servers and fail.)

So I'll never be able to update the VMWare Tools, but it's OK because everything seems to be working.  I will make just a point to save this windows.iso so I don't ever have to be in this position again.

Just for the record, my exact versions are: VMWare Player 7.1.3 build 3206955 and VMWare Tools 8.4.9.30422.  The version of the tools is the one shipped with VMWare Workstation Pro 7.1.6 build 744570.

So I guess it's just a case of VMWare takes a step backward on W2K.  Maybe they will fix it in the future.   Of course I'm probably one of only a handful of people still need run W2K, so I won't hold my breath.

Thanks, Continuum, to try to help.

  • P2V Windows 2000 ESXi 5.5 conversion

    Hello

We lack ESXi, vCenter 5.5 with 3 5.5 hosts. I am trying to convert an old Windows 2000 Server physical and add it to one of our ESXi hosts.

It seems that the latest version of the Agent converter that I can run on the W2K Server is 4.01. Something more recent than that will not install.

And version 4.01 of the stand-alone converter cannot connect to a host ESXi 5.5, (because it is not not compatible I suspect).

If I run 5.5 Converter Standalone and connect you to the W2K Server, he wants to upgrade the agent which, of course, he can't.

    Anyone have this working?

    Do I have other options?

    Thank you.

For anyone else who may find themselves in this position.

I used to convert physical server Win2K Server VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 4.01 virtual 2.x.

When it's done, I used vCenter Standalone Converter 5.5.3 to convert the image to Vmware Server 2 5.5 ESXi infrastructure.

I went all start the server ESXi without a NIC attached and all seems OK, so confident when I do for real, it should work.

  • Where is the graphics driver in Windows 2000 for Fusion 3.01? Stuck in VGA :(

    People

I just upgraded from Fusion 2 to 3.

Overall, it works well except for a Windows 2000 SP4 virtual computer. When I started it OS complained that the VMWare SVGA driver is not compatible. I thought okay - we're going to update VMWare tools. It worked too, but (as usual) I received the message at the end of installation to the effect that the graphics driver must be manually installed. Yet once I went for him... but for the life of me I can't find the CD virtual VMware. Usually it would have been in

Program File\ VMware-VMware Tools-drivers, but all I can see are SCSI drivers...

Any help would be most appreciated as I'm not stuck with a VGA screen! http://communities.VMware.com/message/1453346/ !!

I dcn can't run Windows 2000 on my Mac.    But I run Win2000 VMs VMWare Server and Player.  The video driver installs normally with VMWare Tools in these cases.

I noticed this on page 24 of the guest operating system guide:

After you have installed VMware Tools, modify the Windows 2000 screen area to be larger than 640 x 480 pixels; If you do change it, Windows 2000 uses the standard VGA driver, and performance will suffer.

I would say, try to uninstall tools, restart Windows, and then reinstall the tools.

  • Could not load any Windows OS on ESX 3.5

    Hello world

I did some research on this one and I downloaded a ton of off-site Vmware site Web of LSI Logic SCSI driver, etc.  Right now, I'm to evaluate ESX 3.5 because I think currently for the virtual office road.  Now, I have installed a machine virtual Red Hat under ESX 3.5 and that works fine except that there is no network activity on the virtual machine itself (it's ok through).  The problem I have is when I try to load Windows (XP or Server 2003), I load the SCSI drivers and it detects the hard drive virtual and everything.  It creates the partition and format, and is preparing to copy files.  This is where the problem comes to the top.  I have read many other people have this same problem.  When he tries to copy the SCSI drivers, he says constantly, "can not copy the file.  I know that the diskette is inserted, I even used the image of diskette for BUSLOGIC which is integrated in the datastore of ESX 3.5.  I can NEVER get pass this point unless I have skip files, that is bad of course, because once it starts to load, I get a blue screen every time.  I saw the response of people saying just try this SCSI driver download and tried a ton.  I'm created flp files using WinImage and everything.  Virtual and real disks can all be corrupt because it does not load the driver in the first place (or so I wouldn't see the disc even perform a partition and format.  Anyone know why I can load but copy never works?  Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

    Will be

XP needs drivers, Windows 2003 does not work.  Windows 2003 will load very well natively (free) in 32 or 64 bit.

When you say "copy" you mean the virtual floppy drive, and it never get is installed inside the guest?  You do this on a network, or is the *.flp on your local drive and this through the client?  The less network interference the better.  I did it once or twice, but I've never had any problems with XP drivers.   XP must Bus logic function.

Another thing you could try is to make a NEW ISO with integrated drivers: http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

This tool will help you do this
