Is their extreme Quality of Service (QoS) in apple option?

Hello world

Y at - it an option to enable QoS in extreme apple so that we give a VoIP?

Thanks in advnace.

Sorry, but no. Apple routers don't support QoS.

  • QoS (Quality of Service) - Noob who has need of advice & help

    Hi all

I did some research using Google, it is possible to use QoS to control bandwidth on wireless networks and wired.

I use a router WRT54GS v1.1 that has this capability.

I am wanting to control the bandwidth on my wireless so that my Ethernet (wired) becomes a priority of my internet connection.

I activated the "Support WMM" option in the configuration of routers (Applications & Gaming).

    Explanations of the router are:

    "

Two types of quality of Service features are available, Wired QoS controlling devices connected to the router with a cable Ethernet and Wireless QoS, who control the devices connected to the wireless router.

    Capture Wired QoS (qos.wqos)

Capture (QoS.right2)Device Priority: you can specify the priority for all traffic from a device on your network by giving the device a device name, specifying priority and entering its MAC address.

Capture (QoS.right3)Ethernet Port priority: you can control your data rate according to which physical LAN port, your unit is plugged. You can assign a low or high priority to devices on the LAN 1 port on 4 data traffic.

Capture (QoS.right4)priority Application: you can control your data rate as the application that consumes bandwidth. Check Optimize the gaming Applications to automatically allow the application of common game ports to have a higher priority. You can customize up to eight applications by entering the port number they use.

    Capture (qos.wlqos) QoS wireless

Capture (qos.right5) wireless QoS is also referred to as Wi-Fi (WMM) MultiMediaTM of the Wi - Fi alliance. Select activate to use WMM if you use other wireless devices that are also certified WMM.

Capture (QoS.right6)without acknowledgement: select this option if you want to deactivate the acknowledgement. If this option is enabled, the router not re - sends data if an error occurs.

    "

OK, now I understand everything what qouted above without any problems but feel there is lack of information.

Exactly how does the QoS wireless? Need details of depth.

that is, if I'm online games on my Wired node (PC in this case), who gets priority bandwidth above the node wireless (laptop - only surf the internet)?

    Thanks in advance,

    Peter

Hi all, I got this working now. It was something to do with the following:

Current firmware seems to have some bugs, but I will list those in another message

-J' had to put the IP Address of the default router 192.168.1.1 that the definition of a caused different IP address wireless devices (laptop) does not connect to

-Setting a different download speed that 'Auto' seems to cause the wireless devices do not connect

Will post firmware problems in another post to alert anyone who needs to know in order to make the appropriate changes.

  • Quality of Service with WRT610N and Vonage

I try to get the quality of Service, in collaboration with my WRT610N and my Vonage device.  The WRT is connected directly to a cable modem, and the Vonage device is connected to the Ethernet 1 port.  I have configured the MAC address of the Vonage on the QoS tab as 'High' priority (done by selecting the 'voice device' on the drop-down list category).  In addition, I put my Vonage options (on the my account page of the Vonage site) to use the higher throughput (90 kbps, I think).  Any other setting QoS have been made.

However, the router seems not to be the QoS application at all.  If I do any kind of surfing at all (dragging around on Google maps to load new pages of satellite is a good test), the quality of voice over a call during Vonage is very choppy.  What I have to do something else to make sure that the Vonage device gets highest priority?

    Follow these connection parameter:

    Modem (DSL/Cable)-> VONAGE-> WRT610N

Your Modem must be connected to your VONAGE and your VONAGE Ethernet, plug it into the Internet Port of you router LINKSYS. You also check the VONAGE internet connection by connecting your PC to your Ethernet VONAGE before connecting the WRT610N router.

  • Currently have what benefits will provide an Airport Extreme wifi modem service the Fios last?

I have FIOS at home and bought their last fastest modem.

I have some "weak points" around the House for the wifi connection.

If I add the Airport extreme it can solve this?

If I add the Airport extreme it can solve this?

Yes, if you are looking for an AirPort Extreme in the middle of an area that needs more wireless coverage. The downside of this is that the AirPort Extreme needs to connect to FIOS modem/router with wired Ethernet wired, permanent.

Unfortunately, if you have two different general areas where you need more wireless coverage, then you will need two extremes of the airport, one per domain. Two airports must connect to FIOS modem/router using a wired Ethernet cable connection.

You can do better to find an "extension" or "repeater" that would be compatible with the modem/FIOS router and connect using wireless, rather than wired, which would require an Apple AirPort base station.

Check to see if they produced with the support of FIOS available to do this, or could recommend a compatible product for you.

  • Quality of service issues

    All,

I installation of our system of QOS after the excellent tutorials of Brad Hedlund.  However, it doesn't seem to work for me.  I defined the class gold with a weight of 4 and a MTU of 9216.  I then created a QoS policy using the class gold with a burst of 10240 and rate line for the rate.  Host control is set to none.  I then apply the policy to the console of my service and my MTU value 9000.  I have problems with ESXi and Windows 2008 R2.  I can ping another host with a size of standard image without any problems.  If I ping with a packet size of 8000 I get an error "timeout exceeded demand.  However, if I change the MTU of the better class to 9216 it pings with package jumbo very well.  If I change back to normal best-effort, jumbo pings expire.  It seems that the policy is not applied, there is an error, or system is defaulting to the best-effort class and not using the strategy I created.  No idea where to start my troubleshooting?

    Thank you

If she works within the UCS and not beyond then it's explainable which is the reason why I was asking you abt the 2nd Server.

UCS CoS function QoS that is based on the CoS, we follow treatment is completed.

When you have 2 blades in UCS, you have the same strategy QoS defined i.e. jumbo frames are allowed on CoS 4 (as an example).

When you go beyond UCS, the QoS policy is not there.

When you run a ping of 9000 allows size package say, the echo ICMP message dating as 9000 (data) packet size.

The return (Echo reply) is also with 9000 package size. The return must work for ping succeed.

When you ping to the external server, the package reached it very well I don't like political QMS brand with CoS 4 and jumbo frames are enabled.

The return is coming CoS 0 (i.e. undefined) who will at best is still on the side of the UCS 1500 and will be trampled.

That's why you need to activate jumbo on the better class allowing the return package and treatment to give within the UCS.

We don't allow UCS marking on the penetration of uplinks. But if you were to mark the upstream with CoS 4 traffic, it will work.

You can open a TAC case too... but I'm sure that the explanation will be the same.

    Thank you

  • WAAS and quality of Service (Jacques)

I currently have WAAS deployed in my environment. I would like to introduce you to David in order to avoid the overiding my network sessions. However, my engineer WAAS think that using WAAS would pose a problem.

    Question:

At least once a week a user trying to ftp a large file by internet, which eventually cause saturation and performance issues. The internet is through the data center so evacuation qos is used.

    Internet - WAAS - router = MPLS = router - WAAS - customer

Since there is no way to set entry in the form. And that would be not entirely help either. I need a session by session in the congestion management solution. So introduce WRED. Who's going to look like that.

    Internet---WAAS---Router===MPLS===Router--(wred)---WAAS---Client

On the internal interface LAN's going to regulate the sessions of infiltration to the local network for the State of congestion.

    The problem for thought.

Let's say that in a State of congestion THAT DAVID randomly deletes packages for reducing the size of the window of a ftp session through WAAS. How WAAS would meet abandonment random packages? These drops are going to the source of the packets to reduce or WAAS is she as a source? Specialty WAAS's performance, so it is supposed to compensate for the fall of packages. In this scenerio is WAAS the problem?

If you are an expert in WAAS, I welcome your opinion.

    Hi Derek,.

As you have known it WAAS technology runs on the TCP proxy feature by masking the real customers of WAN environment. Thus, any packet loss (whether because the WAN congestion or because of DAVID) will be handful of WAAS TFO (using BIC and BAG) and will not gas real customers.

Also optimized thanks to the WAAS TFO feature automatically traffic supports the ECN of DAVID function also.

I hope this information can help

  • Extreme quality resulting from adjustments of hue

I'm working on an animated film with tens of thousands of images, all of which I'm editing on CS5.

In this photo I am doing an effect of Aurora in the sky, by adjusting the hue of three layers of-1 in each image. However, I realized that after images just 20 or more, the quality of these layers degrade horribly. Here is a screenshot to show you what I mean. The upper part is the original, the lower part shows the same image after setting hue-10, 30 times (bringing full circle).

    Untitled-1.jpg

So I would like to know if there is a way to maintain the quality, or an action I could create which will reset back to the original layer before each adjustment (and then goes - 1, - 2, - 3 etc for each image).

    Thank you.

I don't know what are your other constraints, but if you pixel editing you could consider using 16-bit/channel to avoid accumulated rounding error.

Another idea might be to clip a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to your image of Aurora.  Who remade the original adjustment on the image data whenever you change the settings.

  • 5520, I don't have the best quality on the predefined menu print option.

Hello, please can help you. I don't have a BEST QUALITY printing on the options menu. I can only print fast draft or quick project black and white as shown below. Please advise, thank you.

    Hey there @lh39!

I should be able to provide assistance on creating a new preset!

Looking at the screenshot your provided it seams like you're very limited to the print settings.  I would recommend open TextEdit on the Mac computer.  TextEdit is located in the application folder.  The only reason why I recommend the use of text edit is just to create the new printer preset for optimal quality.  Once you have TextEdit open go to file and click on print.  You should get a preview window before printing.

    Please follow the steps:

    1. click on "Show details" if it does not say "hide details".

    2. choose "paper Type and quality.

    3. change the quality of 'best '.

    4. click on the drop down preset menu

    5. click on "Save current setting as a preset.

    6. type your name of preses (E.g. best quality)

    7. click on OK and reset your is now registered

When you have finished creating the preset, you should be able to open your original print job and choose your new preset!

Let me know how it goes and thanks again for the display on the HP Forums!

  • Enabling QoS on the router

    Hello
I am pretty raw on qos in layer 3 and let me know if Miss me something, or one that is most simple/better way to do this. I have a standard c881 cisco on my provider MPLS network and I'm trying to do the router on location1 qos in the router on guest place.2.
I'm tagging 3 types of traffic to give priority and bandwidth reserved for some and shape the other, I mark with access-list, voip, 1 based on the ports, important traffic traffic traffic 2 based on ports. I haved create the group class cards matched access those access the lists, then the political cards on these classes and that's where it's a blur.

    AS FAR AS I KNOW:
    (1) I must apply the marking map policy on the entry of my local lan and the law enforcement out of my output interface?
    (2) QoS applies when theres is congestion on the network?
    (3) display all types of qos are, you have to choose, or you can mix them I'm confuse between DSCP and IP which is the best priority
    (4) after all this don't I have still have to control the interface as fair-queue or simply by the interface of police am good?

    * I have no control over the provider's on the MPLS router and I do not have a managed switch

Thank you for everything I want to know if I'm in the right direction.

OK quite a general question, you asked, but I'll try my best to answer them for you. Yes, you must mark your packages, you can do this entering the LAN interface that works perfectly. Mark using IP (0-7) prec or DSCP (https://www.tucny.com/Home/dscp-tos). This link will give you the numbers for both the DSCP or IP prec markings in decimal form and by class name. Personally if you are a beginner to QoS I think fair use IP prec sound much simpler.

Prev IP you can skip classes 6 & 7 are for control, and routing protocols that are (dependent on platform of course) marked by the router automatically must be preferred. Class 5 is usually used for voice traffic, 4 for video, 1-3 for data traffic according to its importance and 0 for traffic best effort.

So the first step is to decide what you want mark to what levels. Create ACLs or similar to match the traffic you want to match, then mark this traffic to the previous IP.

Then on the outbound queue to the provider you want to prioritize. So if you have the voice traffic and you marked it IP prec 5 (exp its often called) so usually you would setup a queue to low latency to ensure that traffic is always priority over all others and sent immediately - reason being to reduce jitter causing major problems to voice packets. Do you this by using the priority order. Be careful with this command as the bandwidth that you put in after the declaration of priority is also a policeman to that number. Then in the other class-maps you match other numbers of IP precedence and use 'bandwidth' instructions to give them specific levels of bandwidth - are not controllers but package corresponding to these statements is less preferred than those corresponding to the queue of "priority".

    As below:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/quality-of-service-QoS/QoS-PAC...

This part is more complex and may not be necessary depending on what you do, but you can do a few child-parent, formatted at this time as well. Some people will create a parent policy map called the previous policy card in it and the EIF of the circuit you have forms of PSI. This helps avoid maxing out the link congestion and better deals in gusts only one traffic profiles policeman. Or you can just put controllers in your class cards rather than statements of "bandwidth" If you know what each class requires.

Finally and probably the forest hardest as it might involve talking to your access provider, make sure that they carry your brands through their base to your other sites. If they are, you should be able to create a political map on your other sites entering the WAN corresponding to different brands of IP precedence. You can then send the test traffic and you should see the stats of policy-plan of traffic on the corresponding end if the ISP realizes your markings. Most do so.

Hope that covers everything you need, please rate answer.

  • compare the routing action against action Service legend against action to publish?

    Hi all

My apologies if this is a stupid question, but I raise my hands upwards and confess my ignorance (I'm mainly a core Java developer;) OSB/ALSB is the type of sideline for me). That said...

I used the OSB (actually ALSB) on some SOA projects within the last 3 years. on my previous projects, we have mainly only routing actions never used. I am currently working on a 3rd project that also uses the OSB. But on this new project, they mostly never use Service legend actions and publish action.

My question is: what are the criteria to choose between one or the other (routing action or Service legend or publish)?

Whatever the others do not? I have RTFM. But it's not always obvious to me. Please, you can fill in the gaps in my knowledge?

Thanks in advance for your time.

My question is: what are the criteria to choose between one or the other (routing action or Service legend or publish)?

Routing - routing action can be created within a single node of road and road node is the last node in a processing of the application. A Route node indicates that ask the treatment ends here and response processing will begin. You can have any node after the node of the road in the stream of messages.

Legend of service - Service legend is used in scenarios of request-response in real-time (for reply sync). If you have a use case where you have to call one or more services request-response in real time (such as synchronization, web services) you can use the action Service legend in the stream of messages. Being a synchronous call, the thread is blocked until a response is returned from the target service.

Release the Action - action to publish is used for only application scenarios where you do not expect a response back. The target service, that you call will depend on the nature of the action to publish (sync or async). If you call an external service with a service business and then publish the action with the quality of Service (QoS) as 'Best Effort' (default) work as fire and forget and wire gets blocked (asynchronous call). If you call a local proxy (proxy with transport as 'local' Protocol) another proxy by using publish action then it would be a blocking (synchronous) call and thread will be blocked until the local proxy finishes processing.

    It will be useful.

    Kind regards
    Anuj

  • SUPPORT WMM

I was wondering why Support WMM allows you to improve the speed of the router

Searching the Web I find this...

Basically, the 802.11n specifications require devices to support 802.11e (quality of Service [QoS] LAN wireless improvements) in order to use the rates link HT (high speed), which is higher than 54 Mbps. (WMM is a subset of 802.11e which was created by the Wi - Fi Alliance as a stop-gap measure while 802.11e worked his way slowly by the IEEE of the review process.) WMM field identifier (TID) traffic is essential to the mechanisms of aggregation, including accused of block (block ACK), which allow to 802.11n high-speed.

Because supports WMM is required for the products to be certified for 802.11n, WMM is enabled by default in all the Wi - Fi Certified n APs and wireless routers. So even if you have not all devices that support WMM on your network, leave THAT WMM active or you can find your customers who only connect at 54Mbps advantageous.

  • NFS traffic must be routed?

NFS traffic on a non-routable network, or can it go through a layer 3 device?

The main question that concerns me is the performance.  I realize that, from a safety point of view, it may be preferable to make it on one vlan not routed.  However in this ad I am answering the question so if keep movement of NFS one VLAN private which is not routed is important from the point of view of performance.  If so, how is it important from a performance perspective?  And what is the best way to predict what will be the impact on the performance of NFS packets sent over a virtual private LAN vs?

Keep in mind these requirements for NFS routed on vSphere:

vSphere 5.0 Update 1 supports a L3 routed NFS access to storage when ensure you that your environment meets the following conditions:

    • Using Hot Standby Router Protocol Cisco (HSRP) router IP. If you use a non-Cisco router, remember to use Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) instead.
    • Quality of Service (QoS) allows you to prioritize the L3 NFS traffic on networks with limited bandwidth, or networks who know a congestion. See the documentation of your router for more details business.
    • Follow routed NFS L3 methods recommended by the storage provider. For more information, contact your storage vendor.

In an environment of L3 the following additional restrictions are applied:
    • The environment doesn't support VMware Site Recovery Manager.
    • The environment supports only the NFS protocol. Do not use other protocols such as FCoE storage on the same physical network.
    • The NFS traffic in this environment is not IPv6.
