Is there a way to recover the EFS encrypted files stored on an external drive without the origianl certificate?

Is there a way to recover the EFS encrypted files stored on an external drive without the original of the certificate?

I had photos/files stored on an external drive and have been encrypted with EFS in XP. The main drive crashed, all keys have been lost. Got a new main drive, installed the new OS and now can't access encrypted files.

Unless you can retrieve parts of your old drive or have a backup of your encryption certificate, you have probably lost all of your encrypted data.  Recovery agents work only if they are in place when the file/folder is initially encrypted.  A program like AEFSDR might be able to resurrect your old certificate from your old drive if it is readable at all.  If you plan to use EFS in the future, make sure you read the following article the court - particularly paragraph entitled "why you should back up your certificates.

"Best practices for EFS file system.

    # Software is necessary.

    First check the recylcl tray. If she isn't here, read the following:

    "Deleting" a file does not delete actually it brand just space be used. There are third-party programs that can sometimes recover deleted files. The problem is that the space used by the file is likely to be replaced very quickly, and this makes the unrecoverable file.

    So your chances of successfully recover this file are decent, if you try it again immediately after deleting it and quickly down. If you have used the computer since then (for example to read this answer and write that question), your chances may be very weak now.

    But if the file is large enough, it's still worth a try. Stop using the computer in question immediately, if you haven't done so already. Download an undelete program (in here is one: http://www3.telus.net/mikebike/RESTORATION.html but there are many other choice; do a search) on a friend's computer and bring it to you on a diskette, CD, or drive to the thumb.

    If that fails, your only recourse is to bring or send the drive to a professional file recovery company. This kind of service is very expensive and may or may not work in your case.

    Is there a way to recover the spfile if I remove the spfile?

    I did a full backup rman db.

    Thank you.

    OK, when you discover a "Note", it means a Metalink Note (now My Oracle Support). RMAN start the instance, it used a 'fake' spfile, when you restore the 'real' your backup spfile you must stop the db so when restart you the restored spfile is read with the correct values for the db settings.

    I built my computer 5 years ago and already a version of XP OEM (drive a sort of holographic label).  Recently the mobo was damaged by lightning, and I had to replace it.  I decided to put a bigger drive in when I reinstalled it.  I have the installation disc, but the certificate was in there with a bunch of boxes of software stolen from my garage.  I noticed that there is a number on the inner edge of the disk.  Is it possible to retrieve the activation number for this?

    I accidently deleted pictures from the camera chip while it was in drive d:, but before that I copied them to the hard drive.  Is there a way to recover?

    Hello

    What version of Windows are you using?

    If it is deleted from the memory card, it can not be recovered. However, there are some third-party applications or the tool that will help you recover photos. If you have saved the pictures on the hard drive and deleted, so you can check in the trash.

  • Is there a way to recover from a backup firefox sync?

    I reinstalledy my win7 box recently. It ' a windows.old with the original installation directory. Is there a way to get the key out of the .old directory synchronization? I don't know where the things of customization are stored, but no doubt there is a file or something that I can copy in my new installation so my sync can keep working without wipe me everything?

    Lesson learned, save the key to recovery somewhere you will remember!

    If you have a backup of the Firefox profile folder you can copy the file signons.sqlite and signons3.txt in one Firefox profile folder.

    You can check if you can find the key to the synchronization in the password manager.

    Make a backup of the he signons3.txt and signons.sqlite files if you already saved passwords or create a new profile and copy the files in the profile folder to inspect these files.

    The "Application Data" in XP/Win2K folder and the folder "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.

    You can find the password synchronization and the synchronization key in Manager password on the computer where you created at the origin of this synchronization account (email).

    You need administrative rights to do this. Be careful as it is possible to easily create a very difficult to solve waste.

    Run gpedit.msc

    -User configuration

    -Administrative templates

    -Windows components

    Run gpupdate /Wait:0

    Note: mmc.exe can be activated by right clicking my computer even as a limited user. Remove or deny permissions to these files for administrator users.

  • Is there a way to recover Microsoft Outlook data after reinstalling Vista?

    I had to reinstall Vista Ultimate to solve a problem on my computer (as the manufacturer helpdesk told me), and then all the old data on the C drive has been erased. This was done in a hurry, and I don't remember to keep all Outlook files (and then lost all emails, contacts, entered calendar etc.). Is there a way to recover these data now?

    If you have an installation clean back to factory settings, you normally wiped your hard drive clean during the process.

    You can try this program:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/Recuva.html

    Recuva is a file undeletion tool that allows you to analyze your hard drives or media cards for files that have been deleted or formatted. It presents you a list of files that have been found, as well as an assessment of their potential for recovery, a preview option, and a hex viewer to inspect the content. You can limit your search to files of a certain type (e.g. images, audio etc.) and choose between a quick and a thorough analysis approach. The program also includes a secure deletion option that allows you to permanently delete files that were found while parsing, to avoid any future recoveries.

    My product key was taken out of my turn to my children and I can't reactivate my windows vista is there a way to recover my product key?

    original title: product key

    Hello

    As you have lost the product key of the Tower, it is a preinstalled operating system and you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer.

    They give you a different product key.

    What you can do now is ask them to send you a set of recovery disc for the computer model reinstall the operating system to how it was when new.

    Also while you are in contact with them, if you never receviced a reinstall to purchase drive, ask them how to make the recovery discs to do the same thing, if you still have access to the recovery partition.

    None of these methods of resettlement requires normally allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

    See you soon.

    I'm not a technical guy either! It is how to configure the self-service score card. It seems unusual, but this is the method of support.

    In fact, it is not as technical as it seems. You will need some technical assistance (e.g., s/n), but only to recover and then download the ldt.

    You will need recover the such appropriate LDT file specified in the file table in the document that I've referenced.
    You can then open it with any text editor (such as wordpad or Notepad).

    Here is an example of the type of text you will see (using for example cost center):

    BEGIN HXC_LAYOUT_COMPONENTS 'XXCU Exception Timecard Layout - cost center'
    OWNER = 'ORACLE '.
    COMPONENT_VALUE = "COSTCENTER.
    REGION_CODE = "HXC_CUI_TIMECARD."
    REGION_CODE_APP_SHORT_NAME = "HXC".
    ATTRIBUTE_CODE = 'HXC_TIMECARD_COST_CENTER '.
    ATTRIBUTE_CODE_APP_SHORT_NAME = "HXC".
    SEQUENCE = "210".
    COMPONENT_DEFINITION = "CHOICE_LIST".
    RENDER_TYPE = 'WEB '.
    PARENT_COMPONENT =
    * "' Exception Timecard Layout - day laid Building blocks for matrix worker scorecard" * "
    LAST_UPDATE_DATE = ' 23/05/2004.

    BEGIN HXC_LAYOUT_COMP_QUALIFIERS 'XXCU Exception Timecard Layout - cost center'
    OWNER = 'ORACLE '.
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE_CATEGORY = "CHOICE_LIST".
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE1 = "Custom9VO".
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE4 = "N".
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE8 = "DisplayValue".
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE9 = '#NUMBER value '.
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE10 =
    * "Oracle.apps.HxC.selfservice.Timecard.Server.Custom9VO" *.
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE11 = "TIMECARD_BIND_END_DATE" TIMECARD_BIND_END_DATE ".
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE17 = "OraTableCellText".
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE20 = "N".
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE21 = 'Y '.
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE22 = 'L '.
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE25 = "FLEX".
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE26 = "Dummy economic context."
    QUALIFIER_ATTRIBUTE27 = "Attribut3".
    LAST_UPDATE_DATE = ' 23/05/2004.
    END HXC_LAYOUT_COMP_QUALIFIERS

    END HXC_LAYOUT_COMPONENTS

    To delete this article, just comment it by putting "#" (hash space) in front of each line between HXC_LAYOUT_COMPONENTS BEGIN and END HXC_LAYOUT_COMPONENTS

    Then save your file and get the DBA to uplaod again.

    You must make sure that filename ldt so the section at the top of the file with the entry
    BEGIN HXC_LAYOUTS "XXCU TIM EXCEPTION-SCORE CARD" "HXC".
    OWNER = 'ORACLE '.
    DISPLAY_LAYOUT_NAME = "XXCU Tim Exception Layout - time sheet entry Page"

    have a unique name. You will see that my example has 'TIM' in the name of layout and display name.

    Make you the ldt file name unique so that it does not replace the Oracle version seeded and you're doing the DISPLAY_NAME and LAYOUT_NAME usinque because that's what you will see in your list of page layouts in the preferences in OTL. If you do not change the names, you will see duplicates and won't know which is yours!

    It's about as technical as it gets.

    Good luck. I hope that answers the question further.

    Concerning

    Tim
