• Creative Cloud Lightroom import records show that year and not the name of the file that I created

  The copy option is used to copy the files from your camera card. The Add option is used when the files are already on your hard drive. They must be copied, just added to the Lightroom Catalog. You can simply add the files that are located on a map of the camera. They must be copied to the hard drive first.

  Yes... I think the library should be 'local' to your Mac. It can live on a USB key and maybe even a network drive, but I do not expect any level of performance with her on the cloud. If you think you can avoid to keep your phone synchronized with iCloud and still have access to all of your library, it won't work.

  Apple don't tell you not to do it, but they said this without mentioning iCloud drive...

  I still own LR. This is the feature of development is really superb. Much better than any tool PP, I have used in the past.

  A gap that I find with LR, however, is its photo management tool.  I used ACDSee Picture Manager, among other things, in the past, the management of photo in ACDSee was really good and intuitive. The following functions have been really practical in ACDSee that I find missing in LR.

  • Group (in addition to sorting) by almost any criteria - original date, day, month, camera, focal, etc..
  • Display a number any of attirbutes - camera, resolution, size, etc.
  • batch renaming practice
  • Travel and single copy

  As you can see, these are all file management functions. LR has these functions as well?

  If this isn't the case, maybe I'll have to use both tools after all - LR for development and ACDSee Photo Manager for managing files.

  Certainly, Lightroom is a photo management tool that compares well with ACDSee. There are probably advantages and disadvantages to each, but everything on your list is present in LR except display resolution (if by that you mean pixels per inch of the photo).

  1. Grouping, as this can be done through the bar filter or smart collections
  2. The metadata panel displays the attributes
  3. F2 rename batch
  4. Move photos is done via the Control Panel folder. LR does not copies, as the paradigm Lightroom does not make real copies. It includes no virtual copies. Of course, you can create copies via another tool, the file-> export. You can make copies in your operating system.

  But if you want LR to have the same flow of work/features/ease of use/etc, like ACDSee (or Bridge, Photoshop Elements or any other program), let's be honest, it's not. The programs work differently. You will need to learn the methods and mechanics of each program. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, and LR has a lot of 'pros' for its photo management tools.

  I have more than the app, iPhoto, on my computer, but it's on the computer you have now? If so, I think there is a setting in preferences to pick up all the pictures on the disc, then put them in an iPhoto library. You can then pass the library to your friend.

  This is to manually remove the master files. But are you sure you want to do this? Especially if these files are raw files? If you do, you throw a lot of precious image data.   I use Windows XP - perfectly up-to-date.  Whenever I have move photos from one folder to another file, the picture is no longer available and cannot be removed with using unlocker.  This has happened for several years.  I copy pictures and new folders whenever I want to move them, but sometimes I forget and move them and then I lose the picture I'm trying.  I also noticed that there is a strange file that opens in the trash that won't let me remove it without using unlocker. These files start with "Dd" followed be a number.  When I delete these use unlocker, another will appear the a different number on this subject.  It is a very maddening problem.  It is not possible for me to do a system restore because it lasts for quite awhile.  Please help - I'm tired of losing pictures that I can't replace.  Thank you for your help.

• Desktop Window Manager has stopped working and was closed

  One of our machines (HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC running Windows Vista x 64) will receive the error "Desktop Window Manager has stopped working and was closed" with lots of close error. He reappears (as well as all windows flasher to non-aero, then back to aero) in a few minutes, spends about 5 times per hour.

  I did some research on this and have already taken the following measures without a bit of luck:

  1 run the command chkdsk / SFC scan - nothing found via chkdsk, SFC found some issues fixed, and some, it did not set. Them that it solves not all related to Windows Sidebar, which I do not / does not start.

  2. put updated drivers for ATI Radeon 3200HD - this had a lot of new questions. Installing caused newer drivers ATI catalyst to no longer work with errors during installation and popup errors at startup. After trying several solutions workaround to try to get installed it, I ended up coming back to the driver that came with the laptop, that are properly installed and working without error. I am skeptical of update of this stable driver as a solution to the dwm.exe error.

  3. this problem just started yesterday, that occur with not a lot of changes. Other than updates of windows (I think that .NET framework and a few other updates installed), I replaced NOD32 antivirus with Bitdefender antivirus. The system was stable with bitdefender for about 2 weeks, so I'm not convinced that this program is causing the error.

  4. the event viewer shows the following:

  You do not receive an error but a caveat. NTStatus results (the set of codes execption used by ntdll - the failed module) begin to 0 for no error, 4 for information (you should never see this), 8 for putting guard and C for error.
