  No preference, but there is a solution. See moving backup iOS device. See the rest of the tip of the user to do a split cell library if the library files and the media folder are on different drives.

  You're never too old. Windows 7 is built on the Windows Vista kernel, so the learning curve is not that steep. All PCs now come with Windows 7, mainly because it's a much better operating system than Windows Vista. Windows 8 is now also developing and there is talk of a possible output of Windows 8 to the end of 2012, so my advice would be to try to master Windows 7 because Windows 8 has a bigger learning curve.

  You may be able to buy a copy of Vista, but if you don't buy an approved point of sale to Microsoft, you'd have to be wary. There are many out there pirated copies and you don't want to waste your money with the purchase of one only to find out that it stops working a few days after you install.

  You can try the following to see if it will get your Windows Media Player in Windows Vista.

  Make sure that Windows Media Player is set as default.
  Go to start. Click default programs. Set default programs. Select Windows Media Player, and then select "Set this program as default". And then click OK.

  First of all, we run System File Checker to see if you have a corrupt file system.

  Click Start
  Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
  Click on "Run as Administrator"
  At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

  This will check for any violation of the integrity and repair any damaged operating system files.

  Reboot your system.

  Rename/Delete the "Windows Media" folder located under %userprofile%\appdata\local\microsoft

  Now, go to Windows Media Player, do a right-click and select "run as Administrator".

  You should now be able to open Windows Media Player on Vista.

  The activation problem arose because the hardware on your current computer does not match that of the hardware on the machine whose mother is dead.
