  UNIX systems are supposed to work.  And I know most the time they do.  (IE Redhat / Cent seems to work very well, however I have seen a few posts on this forum where a specific verion distribution may not work correctly.)

  Sometimes the shutdown, restart, Stand By, Hibernate, the questions are a result of incorrect video drivers on which, in your system, we know nothing.

  So that your system from Hibernate mode on its own, the system must be 'inactive' for the specified time interval.

  Idle means no mouse, no keyboard, no surfing, no analysis, no instant messaging, no Skype, no movies, no MagicJack, etc..

  Your system have installed Windows Search, Skype, iTunes, MagicJack, RSS feeds, any type of instant messaging, any type of malware scanners do scans or do automatic updates as MSE, AVG, Avast, Norton, McAfee, Bit Defender?

  What is your Hibernate time set now?

  If you define your hibernate timer to something short - as a minute, it works very well?  How about 5 minutes or 15 minutes?

  Now give a few more details:

  Click OK, and when the system info summary appears, click on edit, select all (Ctrl-A), copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here.

  You cannot run a game written for Windows on OSX that is Mac OS.  There are a few programs that may allow you to do, but they are beyond the scope of a Windows support forum to provide.

  You can use software from Apple called Bootcamp, which allows you to install Windows as well as OSX on the same Mac, and then you can choose to boot into an operating system when you start the machine.  This will allow you to play the game if the computer meets the system requirements claimed on the game box.

  I suggest you contact Apple for additional assistance in this regard.

  Two different questions, Stuart.

  1. by all means, it is certainly important to install SP3 and then install all updates of up-to-date security post-SP3. It's absolutely crucial to do this will greatly reduce you your chances of getting malware!

  2. However, the SP3 upgrade won't fix your lack of Internet connectivity. You have not provided enough information. We do not know how it is physically connected for example or what are the settings of your router. The most likely reason for what you describe is still, you forgot to install the drivers for your hardware! Once you do this, your Ethernet connection should work. (If not, then he is one of the other issues mentioned above.)

  So, here's your homework:
