I don't understand exactly how errors in the two newspapers are related, but my opinion is that, if I can solve my CheckSUR.log errors, CBS.log errors will disappear to, and then I might even be able to install SP1.

Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

    1 person needs an answer

For what is interesting, what I ended up doing to solve my problems was to re - install Vista with the 'upgrade' option, so I don't lose any of my files or desktop settings...

After that, I had a few problems with my OS reinstalled with several (80 +) updates, SP1 and SP2 from catching up.  But overall these problems were minor compared to it, that I lived just to fix some missing files.

    Hello

strange that you can request that

HP computers have been known to not let you install Vista on a non HP bought replacement hard drive

There were a few posters with this problem here

If the OEM disc for this particular laptop, you should be able to reinstall it as many times as you want as long as you have not changed the main material (the motherboard)

You can change the hard drives, RAM, etc.

I presume that you boot from the Vista DVD

  • Satellite Pro M70-113: cannot install Vista graphics driver and lines appears on the display

    Hello

I have satellite pro m70-113 with ati x 700 graphics card.

When I installed vista, he installed the default drivers for the x 700 'mobility radeon x 700-microsft Corp.-WDDM '.

I've updated the display drivers for vista, that released by toshiba 2 days back... but the driver is not updated to the latest version, only the catalyst control center is installed when I ran the update of the driver of toshiba.

The problem is that whenever I put my laptop in standby or hibernation and resume... the screen shows thin lines vertical/horizontal... and I can't use the laptop... and I have to still put the system to sleep, just to hope that it is not blocking the screen this time...

This problem is 25% of the time only when resume...

This problem is not resolved by the update driver for toshiba has released a few days back... as is not installs the drivers (I can't even install the drivers with the option "update drivers" of Device Manager and select file driver update from toshiba.) It says windows find new driver, but could not install the driver... Contact the manufacturer...)

This snap shows the problem... : http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/2783/12042007366copyod1.jpg

I updated the driver from an earlier version of catalyst, as it is downloaded from the ati site before that toshiba has released the update... this time it updates some 8. XXX version but the screen problem remains...

Second, this update of the driver leaves me not sleep my system... the process starts for a sleep, but go back to the locked screen without making sleep ever... so I have no choice to get stuck with the default Windows... drivers having only the problem of the screen... and not the problem of sleep...

    Anyone here with a solution?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I have Satellite M70-159 and I noticed the same thing several times. For most Vista works well but I don't remember cases in which the described problem occurs. I was just curious on M70 Vista and have had no time to intensive testing.

Anyway, it will be interesting to know if you have already updated the BIOS to the latest version 5.10. If this is not the case to do this and watch carefully if the problem persists.

  • How to install Vista from the recovery disk without defining partitions?

    Hello

I have my recovery disk and I have installed a new 320 gb HHD.
When I installed the recovery disc, it re done the 160 GB partitions in each (2 partitions more the 1 recovery partition)...

But I want to dual boot with XP pro because of software problems and I prefer it sometimes...
    I redid my scores, 1 - 51 GB for XP pro(32bit), 2nd - 51 GB for vista (32 gb) and the 3rd - 210 gb is for storage

How to install with Toshiba vista o/s and stuff that comes with it on the recovery disc, immediately to the 2nd partition without affecting how I configure the hard drive...

I have about 100 GB of photos, music, and cam vids on storage, with nowhere to put them, so I can't risk, because some are copy only (so it might be a good idea to let me know how I save this s on my storage spread in the DVD please)

If I can t, then can some1 please tell me how to get my Toshiba OEM vista off this recovery disk or a link for me?

Hope all this makes sense lol... Thank you
    Shane

If you have so much important material best save is to buy an external HARD drive and copy all this stuff here. I recommend buying the small 2.5 external HDD and when necessary, you can take with you and connect to any computer, if you want to view or copy this file. External hard discs connected to other computers with a supplied USB cable.

    Return to your partitions.
When you use the original Toshiba DVD facilities, you will have 3 partitions.
WinRE - partition and it belongs to the Vista operating system. This partition is not visible, and this isn't some sort of Toshiba recovery partition
    -C for Vista partition
Or-d/E to the DATA in the partition. This partition is recorded recovery image in the folder called HDDRecovery
I don't know what model of laptop you have, but this configuration is on all new Toshiba laptops shipped WITHOUT recovery media.

Using Toshiba recovery media, you will be able to get exactly mentioned structure of the partitions. Support to recovery facilities using you WILL NOT be able to install Vista on the second partition.

So if you want to have the dual boot with Windows XP Home edition, you can do following:
-At first, you are going to install Vista with support of recovery and on the second partition, you are going to install your version of Windows XP Home edition
-At first you will be installing WXP and then you can install Vista on the second partition, but you must use the Microsoft facilities drive. Recovery media can not be used.

That's all I can say from my experience with such things.

  • installed vista after xp problem, now I want xp back

    want xp back!

virus .microsoft suppurt helped me to get rid of him, but after a day of full scan that it my computer will not re-start... the mes.it gave was windows/boot/system(something close)... told me to reinstall xp disk... was a hand me down comp. so didn't... a friend has vista disk but no product key... ran for 1 Monday must now button #... hate vista would be as my xp back... will this work and how to on this subject! Please help ready to throw this stupid thing!

It sounds like you (pretty stupidly, IMO) installed Vista even if you don't have a legitimate copy of it and now the time to activate is in place.

    You have 3 options:

    1. If the computer is a computer of 'brand', he can have a restore hidden on the disk partition hard that you can use to restore the computer to its "fresh from the factory" State.  Not all computers have a hidden partition, and even if yours came with one, you deleted when you installed Vista.  Please answer two questions:

      a. What is the make and model of your computer?
      (b) when the computer is turned on, you can see one or several messages while pressing a key or keys.  Please report these messages say.  You may have to restart several times, because messages pass very quickly.

    2. You can buy a copy of Windows XP - but these documents are available from dodgy sources on places like eBay and Amazon.
    3. If your hardware is compatible, you can buy a copy of Windows 7.

In certain circumstances, it may be also possible to get a copy of Windows XP from the computer manufacturer.

  • Adding a new MBR on the drive where is installed Vista Ultimate

My computer has the following configuration.   (.. .and works very well!)

    = Player disc-1 =.
    * (Vista Boot Manager)
    * XP (C :))

    = Player disc-2 =.
    * Vista Ultimate (e :)) (when I installed Vista, he installed BOOTMGR to drive hard-1))

My question/problem is I want to move or simply - to add an instance of BOOTMGR Vista Drive-2 which is completely independent of Drive-1.    It is very likely that I have will soon be abolition of the use of Drive we.   My hope is that all I have to do is hide/idlers in car-1 and boot from the Vista DVD and use the utilities here to create a new boot sector and MBR for Drive-2.   All problems similar to what I've read door on one disk, where a new installation has wiped out the boot process.   Y at - it someone who has a good understanding of my particular setup of two motor which can give some advice.

    Thank you, Steve

I'm now able to start only one installation of Vista from reader1 or lecteur2.

    = Player disc-1 =.
    * (Vista Boot Manager, Vista boots on lecteur2)
    * XP (C :))

    = Player disc-2 =.
    * (Vista Boot Manager, Vista boots here on lecteur2)
    * Vista Ultimate (e :)) (when I installed Vista, he installed BOOTMGR to drive hard-1))

Wow... I would love to give an ordered list and understandable how I realized that.  But most of the time I went in circles and re - set which was made before.   I'll at least try list commands, the list of the problems encountered and give some useful suggestions.

= The list of what to do: =.
    * Vista on lecteur2 to give a new system partition
    * Give the new partition system on lecteur2 a MBR and bootmgr code installed
    * Create a new BCD database in the root/boot/directory (file is called BCD)
    * You need a Vista DVD to boot from and to the recovery environment

= List orders that I used in the order of approximately: =.
Bootrec /scanos (needs to show at least "1" windows installation found)

= - Suite 5 lines are two ways to save the BCD file - =.
    bcdedit/export C:\boot\BCD_Backup1
    c:
    Boot CD
    BCD attrib s h - r
c:\boot\bcd Ren BCD_Backup2 (this cmd and not really necessary but just prev after kb/927392)

DiskPart (using select the disk and partition to activate as needed)

    Bootrec /fixmbr
    Bootrec /fixboot
    Bootsect.exe/nt60 E:/force

Bootrec /rebuildbcd (sorry, don't know if did before or after bootrec /fixmbr)

    = Problems / suggestions =.
The trickiest part is to make sure both drives and question all partitions are defined according to the needs for the next task (hidden or not) and (active or not).
    * You must understand - well - how to set your BIOS to boot (for Vista DVD or the New Partition)
    * You need to understand all the commands used; Google each for a reference document
    Good examples are:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/927391
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/927392
    * I got the freebie here EasyBCD bootsect command: http://neosmart.net large part of the info, I found this command, but he was apparently only available with Vista for a short period (and was not on any of my Vista computers)
    * I was initially eager to ALSO change the Vista on C: drive, but I now realize that is not possible when starting from two readers.   Furthermore, I'm not completely sure, that it is even possible to change.  (you cannot change a designation of the system drive for Vista disk management).  I found some info about changes to the registry, but I lost track of it.  In any case I'll deal with that at a later date.  If you find info on how to do it please let me know.
