  Unless you plan to buy a new computer with Windows 7 pre-installed, make sure that your hardware is compatible with Windows 7 (for the most part, this means that Windows 7 drivers are available; problems are more likely to occur with older laptops).  Download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

  First things first: the "unit of measure" a deviation is the same as the things being measured in the first place. Then your numbers say that your query has an average speed of 0.266 seconds, with a standard deviation of the average of 0.9 seconds.

  Second, statistics tells us that if the data are normally distributed, you can expect at 95% of the results of 2 deviations average types. In other words, 2 * 0.9 = 1.8, then numbers suggest 95% queries on your system last between 1 and 60 + 2.0 seconds. It's a second four distributed around an average of only 0.266 seconds.

  This is a big gap, perhaps, but not as big as in your old system, where your figures suggest queries took 4.5 +-(2*4.8) =-5,1 + 14.1 seconds. It is a bad medium to begin with (assuming it is the same data as your new query manages to extract in 0.3 it only takes a second), but it's also a very large 20 seconds spread around average... which means the old query run very unpredictable.

  (By the way, is the fact that your broadcast involves some queries returned until they were submitted which suggests your data have a tilt!) I'll make a heroic assumption that your recliner is the result of only one or two queries really bad, however and a plough on despite everything!)

  We can't know that if a 0.2 second query with a gap of 4 seconds is good enough for your application. If the query is used to power a Web site, for example, a waiting 4 second may be just about acceptable. An average of 4 seconds with a gap of 20 sounds pretty bad, though.

  On the other hand, a second 4 spread is 15 times the average 0.26, while a second 20 distributed is only 5 times 4 seconds on average. Your new query is, proportionally, more unpredictable in performance than the same old if the old one was just predictable bad! I wouldn't worry, however: when you're dealing with very fast queries, even slight variations may look relatively bad, but waiting instead of 0,2 0,4 seconds is still a better result than to wait 8 seconds instead of 4!

  Anyway: I'm not Statistician and my analysis of your numbers can be completely wacky, but you raise an important point which is that we need to know what is an average middle - and how to spot a bad to a good, regardless of its absolute value - when doing things like optimizing the performance. I may set up a more thoughtful piece of blog to discuss the issue. I'll let you know if I do.

  I work with a team to create an application that can acquire data of up to 24 channels of thermocouple.  We plan to create an Assistant to help the user to set up the test (specifying stop conditions, frequency of sampling, sample channels, output file and email/text notifications).  After installation, if the user cancels, then the program continues.  We have defined parallel loops and their roles, trying to fit into a design of producer/consumer model.  I've attached the main file that shows the structure of the program.  We try to keep it clean and modular.  Before diving into development, we are finalizing a detailed design specification so that different people can work on each of the loops subvis.  I was hoping that people could review the block diagram and offer suggestions to improve or validate that we have chosen a good method of implementation.

  Notes on the block diagram

  The plan focuses on the terms of the judgment to be detected by the notifier of the event, managed by the main user interface event of data and then the data collector is loaded to stop (as well as the loop main user interface).  When the data collector stops, it releases the queue, the queue reference becomes invalid, and then loops with the Dequeue will be stopped.

  I don't know if a structure of additional event should be in the DataCollector to run specifically on the UI, the Stop button, because if it's in the structure of the Main UI event, the DataCollector would not be stopped immediately.  It is important to stop quickly because the sampling rate can be VERY long.  I understand how to use a structure of the event instead of waiting FOR him, but did not know if he is an effective way, letting down in the structure of the Main UI event...?

  A big question I have is... The structure of the event hand UI should just be in the data collector so that the loop can be stopped immediately?  All the events of the UI (stop button, start/pause/repeat data collection) directly perform the data collector.  The data collector should have a state machine instead?

  I think that the loops 3 consumers (event notifier, Email/text calling and generator of reports) seem like a good implementation, but I'm not confident in the collector of data and user interface main loops.  They should be combined?

  A few thoughts:

  Overall it seems achievable - don't forget to name your than us and Notifiers-then you can depop the BD and launch each loop in his own subvi without wiring all queues between the loops-Just get to the queue named ref.

  "Data collector" needs a supervisor to control how many times the data - I think a manual with the States 'init-collect-stop. "  A simple timed loop could produce the "time to CQI ticks" under the control of the control rate sample. This puts both the DAQ init and cleanup functions in paying the collector of data so that it facilitates the coehesion and solves the output without waiting for the loop to iterate.

  I'm not a fan of duplicating data - I guess that analisys is pretty much just a few comparisons - so it is fast enough - why not add summary data to the same queue? And making a single item queue - the loop of report can then inspect the queue and are looking for a summary 'index' - if its bigger than the last written index add the darn data to the report?  The preview queue works very well for these situations.

  Do not combine the handeler UI with something else! You see the problem?-Tip: here thar be spaghetti.  Keep it separate solid code maintainable and scalable functions.

  One last thought: his becoming less popular to stop loops about the error of a dequeue.  First of all, it returns a default item that may cause your headaches listeners.  Then it doesn't allow you to run a cleanup code.  Use a stop command embedded in the data of the element as a senior to determine when to stop.  We will try to get the updated samples to display current best practices.

  Here's the deal: the GTX 745 will be the factor limiting in this PC, assuming that you add an SSD. However, without knowing the case where the PC is assembled in, some OEM cases have only one internal drive Bay which limits the whole system to just one OS disc and no disc storage internal. That severely limits scalability.

  And the GTX 745 is much slower than the GTX 750 for two reasons:

  (1) it is an OEM only version paralyzed from the GTX 750 with only 384 CUDA cores (against 512 CUDA cores in the GTX 750);

  (2) it only uses DDR3 memory instead of the 750 GTX GDDR5 memory, and so the flow of memory is a crummy 28.8 GB/sec instead of 80 GB/sec of the 750 GTX. And I recently tested a GT 730 with GDDR5 memory to give you an idea of ugly about how the GTX 745 will occur.

I often find myself with transfer techniques to increase the performance of the vectors then you might consider this path. Finally, make sure that your client is running an optimized final version such as Ad Hoc. A fast publication is not in the same way optimizing and runs generally slower because it contains debugging functionality. Always test on the aim low. If you need to run on an iphone 3gs or an ipad1, make sure that you have one to see the performance. iPad1, 2 and 3 as well as the iPhone 3GS and iPhone4, etc are all very different in performance.
