Is this possible in Firefox to open a new tab in my homepage? Currently, it is just empty. I have to click on the 'Home' icon to load my homepage. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.
I am running Firefox 7.0.1 on Windows 7.
A blank page is the default value for a new tab. You can middle - click the Home button to open a new tab to your home page, or you can install this extension and set it for your homepage.

Why can't I find an add-on to open a new tab in my homepage on Firefox 5?
I was able to open a new tab in my homepage (Google in my case) in all other versions of Firefox. I'm a loyal user, but it's frustrating. I can't locate an add-on for this feature. Is there something there?
Tab utility 1.0.8 has this feature and works with version 5

Firefox keeps opening my new tab like Yahoo 4.0.1, can I change it?
It opens well, right to my home page, but after that when I try to open a new tab, it opens as 'Yahoo! Search - search the Web'. I want to open a blank page, but I don't know how to change it, I tried NewTabURL 2.2.2 but even that did not work. Is anyone here know what I can do to change that?
This will be caused by an add-on. Check all Yahoo of Add-ons to see if they have added to that. The add-on of the net assistant gel is another who will do the Yahoo Search to appear on new tabs. If you have this add-on, you can uninstall it.

After firefox updated all addons some of them has opened a new tab after restart. This tab has reported that each addon has been updated.
But these tabs keep opening at startup, hiding my homepage and gets boring.I solved many of them downgrading to an older version, but I can't trouble the Tabmix more tab than guard leader here:
http://tmp.garyr.NET/version_update2.htm?version=0.4.1.1pre.130722a
Even without this downgrade, which in fact lead to another page that tells a different version (the one I had demoted to)EDIT. I wiped out the config to restore it piece by piece.
Everything is now resolved. -
If I hit the Home button on one of them I have several tabs open, Firefox opens a new tab just next door with the Firefox start page. I searched in the options and am unable to find why this happens or how to stop it.
If this isn't a pinned (App) tab then the home page should open in this tab.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).
- Do NOT click on the reset button on the start safe mode window or make changes.

When I load firefox it opens a new tab then my home page. How can I stop the new tab
I just need firefox to open my home page, not to open a new tab
You can check the target line in the shortcut to the Firefox desktop (right click: properties) to make sure that nothing is added after the path to the Firefox program.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.
- Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
- Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

I want to open my new tab of my homepage, not not the tiles or white page
I've upgraded to Firefox 41.01 and now when I open a new tab I have only the choice of tiles (which I don't want) or a completely blank page. I want the new tab to open my home page, not the tiles suggested or a blank page.
41 of Firefox is no longer uses the browser.newtab.url setting in about: config because he was constantly attacked by malware. From 41 of Firefox, you need an add-on to change the new tab page.
Here are a few options (I'm learning more all the time):
- If you are already using the "Restorer of classic theme" or "Tab Mix Plus" extension: There is an option somewhere (!) in his dialogues of the parameters to select another page in the new tab.
- If you want to use your new tab homepage: Try https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/
- If you want to set another page or a completely blank page: Try https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/
- If you want the cursor to move in a search box in the page: Try https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/custom-new-tab/
Use only one of these methods at the same time, otherwise there may be conflicts and dysfunctions.
Setting up substitute new tab and new tab custom
After installing one of these extensions, you must use the Options page to set the new desired tab page (instead of use subject: config).
Open the page modules using either:
- CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: Cmd + shift + a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, find the new tab replace or custom new tab and click on the Options button. (See first screenshot attached).
New tab Override
Depending on the size of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the address in the form. (See second screenshot attached). For example:
- (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
- Blank tab = > subject: empty
- Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
- Any other page = > full URL of the page
Then tab or click this form field and you can test using Ctrl + t.
Custom new tab
It is easy to enter your favourite homepage address. If you check either of the boxes, the expansion will set the focus in the page as well, for example, the cursor will be in the Google search box. (See third screenshot attached). I had to leave Firefox and start it up again before new custom tab started working, but this may have been due to tests so many extensions back to back.

When I click on the + sign to open a new tab, all of my most visited sites are empty
When I click on the sign + to open a new tab all my most visited sites are the blank page. I know that there is a parameter in the config which is set to false, and must change. I don't remember who it is, can you help me?
- In the address bar, type Subject: config and press enter. The subject: config "this might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
- Click on I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue on the subject: config page.
Search for the string "browser.newtabpage.enabled" and set the value to 'true '.

A few days ago all of a sudden wasn't the button "Open a new tab" and go to "file" then "open a new tab", it opens a new tab. I have to go into my favorites and right click 'open in new tab' for any new tab to open it. I checked my settings and nothing is there, on this subject. Can I do about it?
Uninstall the toolbar Ask and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask and Firefox toolbar that prevents the opening of new tabs.
There are a few places to check for the Ask toolbar:
- Check the control panel Windows for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
- Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

Firefox after opening a new tab
When I open Firefox, it opens on my startup page, then immediately opens a new generic tab. I think I once clicked on "make your start page xxx", but never once completed the process. How to get there at my start page?
Hello andy33,
I think that one of your custom extension/add-ons is causing this problem.
Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables certain parameters, disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).
When your Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:
- In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button
click Help
then select restart with disabled modules.
- In previous versions of Firefox, click on the Firefox button in the upper left of the Firefox window and click help (or click on help in the Menu bar, if you do not have a Firefox button) and click on restart with disabled modules.
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.
To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.
When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.
Thank you.
- In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button
