Windows media player 11 on my Vista Basic OS cannot play DVD movies
My WMP cannot play DVD movie and it gives me this message: Windows Media Player cannot play back the video DVD. You may need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try to lower your screen resolution and color quality settings
Vista Basic can't read the DVD. You must install a DVD codec to play DVDs. Other versions of Vista came with a codec.

Windows media player 11 for vista full dysfunction on cd burn?
the Windows media player 11 for vista 64 holiday won't let me burn a blank cd media file at 192 kilobits per second (highest quality with songs less) it starts to burn and then cancels the entire drive and ruins it, now you mind, at the lowest kilobytes / option dry it will burn the cd with songs more but at the lowest quality which means that the disc is not very good in any case please help! Joe
Hello
You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
correctly.Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.
CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.Several good info here:

No video in Media Player 11 for Vista
AVI files from my digital camera used to play in Media Player 11 for Vista. All of a sudden Media Player only plays sound, but no video for them. Or, it shows the first frame as a still image or a musical note icon. AVI files play again fine in QuickTime Player or DivX Plus Player. This happens not just with new AVI I downloaded recently, but also with the 'old'. I have not install new programs or change anything else (that I know of). The restore point creation feature is disabled, so I can't go back to when everything worked. Help, please.
Excellent detective work!
