• Cisco features ISE and license terms

  We design a wireless solution of comments for a customer who has offices across the country

  The requirements are

  1. custom service to each office. Captive portal should be adapted to each office. I plan to do with names/AP-card and apply a filtering rule based on AP-name/location. There are about 25 locations. Maybe I need to design 25 portals based on location.

  2 solution must support about 1500 guest users.

  3 auto & paid ads must be supported.

  4. username & password by Email/mobile.

  What type of license I need? Need me a license any policy with license comments to 1500 people? Do I need a license of advertising?

  I looked at the price of licenses. they are very expensive. I don't know if I'm doing one any mistake or not.

  Hi Karsten, you are right. I should have responded more clearly.

  ISE Express by itself comes with 150 licenses. You can add the Basic, Plus, or licenses Apex "à la carte" for an ISE express installation - up to 5000 total licenses. However, those who are normal full cost ISE licensing.

  You'd still have the limitation of the original ISE Express Server (site unique deployment only, and may not participate in a larger deployment of ISE or cannot be combined with another device of ISE for high availability) unless you need to upgrade to the version no Express using the Reference R-ISE-GST-UPG-K9.

  The original poster, ISE Express (or same ISE evaluation license) would be a good point of entry to a show or a concept of the trial to see whether the product meets the requirements.

• ISE renewed licenses

  As long as the new license is installed and recognized, and the existing number of session does not exceed the number and type of licenses available on the subject, delete the old will have zero impact on the production services.

  It would have been preferable to wait to get the new as the countdown begins on that one as soon as the PAK is issued. You missed about four months, you could have continued to run on the old license.

• Endpoint ISE wireless license?

  ISE licensing is based on endpoints is authenticating with the network. So in your case if all 500 devices must connect to the network at the same time, then you will need to purchase 500 licenses. Remember that those who are simultaneous, as well, when a customer leaves the network license is released.

• ISE base license and importation of enddevices

  Been through the intire internet (or so it seems) and most guides and advice are on the functionality that is included in the advanced license, profiling and so on.

  I am faced with a case where the base license should be sufficient. But I'm confused about the import of the endpoints.

  When using the basic license is the only way to import devices manually or via file or LDAP? ISE is unable to scan the network a collection of addresses MAC automaticly?

  We do not have LDAP and about 20,000 points endpoint, add them manually or in a CSV is too much work.

  You're right, these are the methods that 2 mac addresses of research, it is only two methods that ISE would apply only base licenses. If you choose to scan your network for devices ISE then that would be seen as "dynamic profiling" which is an advanced feature.

  You can upgrade with expired license. However, best recommendation is to have the ISE in good shape wrt to all features.  If you renew the licence, it will also improve with upgrade of the ISE.

  A customer has ISE1.2 and the license will be expired next week. They are not ready to upgrade v1.2 to the v2.1 before the expiry of the licence. The question is, can the newest and APEX license applied to ISE v1.2?

  You can not install Apex on ISE 1.2.  It can be installed 1.3 in the rooms. Rest the existing license needs to be renewed.

• How SSL VPN packages for two ASAs clustered licenses

  Hi all!

  If I have installed two Cisco ASA 5550 (ASA5550-BUN-K9) in failover mode, which I know support only 2 concurrent sessions of SSL VPN and you want to upgrade my boxes to support 15 AnyConnect SSL VPN sessions, how many licenses packages I need to buy?

  An ASA5500-SSL-25 for both boxes or two ASA5500-SSL-25 for one per box?

  Depends on what version of ASA you are running.

  If you are running version 8.3 and above, then you just buy 1 ASA5500-SSL-25 for a failover pair and it would work. If you buy 2 ASA5500-SSL-25, one license per box in failover pair, then the license gets grouped into 50 SSL user license.

  For ASA running version 8.2 and below, you are required to buy 2 ASA5500-SSL-25 (one of each ASA in the failover pair) as the license should be exactly the same for the pair to failover to work, in the earlier version of the SAA.

  There used to be a facility to add the secondary node Admin ISE to licensing that it was no problems when the primary is down.   If you have two Administration nodes deployed in a high availability pair, you can get a license based on the hardware IDs of both primary and secondary Administration nodes. After obtaining the license, add it only to the main node of the Administration. The license gets replicated to the secondary management node.

• ISE HA / node licenses group

  I have a single ISE 3355 with 2200 basic licenses.

  I intend to buy an another 3355 for redundancy purposes.

  Just add this in the node group and the license pool is shared between the nodes? I can't imagine that I have to rebuy all licenses for the 2nd device.

  That is right.  There is not need to purchase licenses additional paks.  ISE deployment licenses are based by endpoint, not by the node of the ISE.  You can simply add the new node to the existing deployment.

  However, the number of active device is 202 and was never above 206. The advance is currently 57...

  Symptom:

  With correct basic and Advanced license already installed correctly - ISE generates alerts;

  "Concurrent user base exceed the authorized number of licenses.

  I have a question about ISE more and ISE Apex Licenses. Is it still a requirement to have a certification partner Advanced Technology (ATP) to order the licenses. I know it took to ISE 1.2 but I did not find anything in the guide of the licenses for 1.3 or 1.4.

  Yes - except for the ISE Express Bundle licenses and mobility of the ISE.

  Other license types (Basic, Plus and Apex) are still under the authorized technology provider (ATP) program.

  I am preparing political security for a hotel by implementing ISE VM on c220 TRC #2, I use L-ISE-VM-K9 = or L-ISE-5VM-K9 =, that by my knowledge for the design of the ISE, would require mulitple nodes and review of redundancy. for example in the Admin node, node monitoring, node policy, redundant posture Inline and ISE node service.

  any suggestion or recommendation for the VM solution.

  number of ISE VM license you need depends on number of cucurrent endpointsin deployment. If it is a stand-alone deployment, and redundancy is required, then you will need 2 L-ISE-VM-K9 =. Let us know the number of

  cucurrent endpoints.

  I have the license wireless / wireless upgrate on ise 1.4 and licenses will expire in two days.

  What should I do?

  If you have 1.2 upgrade to any higher version then licenses gets upgrade automatically.

  Otherwise any costs re/install-image, need to install mobility and upgrade license.

  You must contact the licensing team, get your license has changed with mobility and the upgrade of mobility as upgrade Wireless / Wireless does not work on versions 1.3 and above.

  Mobility and mobility upgrade licenses cannot coexist on a node of Cisco Administration at Base of, Plus, or licenses of the Apex.

  1. is it possible to install the Cisco ISE software on the server machine to physical HP (without solution VMware or without the use of SNS-3415-k9 cisco device)?

  You can install ISE on a HP ONLY Server if you are using software virtualization (VMware or KVM).

  The Guide of Installation of ISE sets out three options:

  1 hardware appliance from cisco SNS

  2. virtual machine VMware

  3 Linux KVM.

  The AnyConnect license is required to qualify with the features of the Apex. It is not installed on the ISE server, however.
