Issue of Apple Mail - account does not exist

There is no account in Mail, but the mail keeps asking for the password.

What is happening on my new Macbook 12 "who migrated via Time Machine of my very old MacBook Pro.

If the account in question does not exist, how can I find and get rid of it?

From the Mail menu bar, you select

▹ Connection Doctor window

Find the account SMTP (outgoing mail) abandoned in the window that opens. Double-click it. Another window opens, displaying the list of all outgoing mail accounts. We'll pick one unwanted. Make a note of the settings in case you change your mind. Click the sign to remove, and then click OK.

If there is more than one account, unwanted, repeat.

    Just recently my iCloud, Gmail and Outlook IMAP accounts does not connect through the app Apple Mail on my MacBook Pro running 10.11.6. I get a popup error message and exclamation points appear next to each account that States the unable to connect to the server application. IPhone & iPad with the same accounts are fine, just my Macbook Pro has this problem. Connection Internet is fine. Suggestions?

    Try this:

    Restart the computer by pressing the F8 key - it may take you in Mode safe

    Restart the computer by pressing SHIFT + F8 - it may take you in Mode safe

    Type control userpasswords2

    Press Ok

    This will open the window user accounts

    Please read this message before doing anything.

    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

    Step 1

    The goal of this step is to determine if the problem is localized to your user account.

    Select the feedback connections* and log in as a guest. Do not use the Safari connection only 'user comments' created by 'find my Mac '.

    While signed in as a guest, you will have access to your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you use them for the first time. Do not be alarmed by this behavior; It's normal. If you need any password or other personal information in order to complete the test, save, print, or write them before you start.

    Test while signed in as a guest by putting in place one of your e-mail accounts. Same problem?

    After testing, log on to the guest account and in your own account, disable it if you wish. The files that you created in the guest account will be automatically deleted when you log out of it.

    * Note: If you have enabled 'find my Mac' or FileVault, then you cannot activate the guest account. The login 'User comments' created by 'Find my Mac' is not the same. Create a new account to test and delete it, including his home folder, after testing.
