I need to find the official Microsoft site info in order to give the owner of the company who is eager to upgrade laptop his wife of Vista Home Premium, Vista business or Windows 7 Enterprise so that the laptop's desktop remotely allowing access to his computer inside his office.
Preferably this update must be done without having to back up the data, format the hard drive and restore data and applications.
I already know that the best method of upgrade would require reformatting and reinstalling all data, but it does not do this option. Instead, he wants to official Microsoft information that it can display on their website about upgrade options that would give computer remote desktop laptop while still demanding not not formatting the hard drive.Hello

Hi VojislavJosimovic,
· Which antivirus program is installed on the computer?
Method 1: Temporarily disable the antivirus on the computer program and check if it helps. If it works, you may need to check the settings of the program.
Note: Check that you activate your anti-virus protection on the computer back after you complete these steps. It is not recommended to disable these settings on the computer. It's just to solve the problem.
Method 2: You can follow this step by step guide and check if it helps.

Runing Vista - Cannot install iTunes. Get error - could not access network location %APPDATA%\protector.exe
I see APPDATA is in the temp folder - how to fix this?I have seen this error a lot with iTunes. Let's start by checking your system files.
Go to start / programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt and click Run as administrator.
Type sfc/scannow (note the space - it is important) and to enter and leave running. It will scan some of your system files and fix them if possible (let us know if it finds errors, it cannot repair). If it runs successfully, try the installation again.
In addition, you must be logged on as administrator to install the program - some programs require that (but I'm not sure that in this case then log in as administrator just to be sure, this isn't the issue).
Let us know if it works or if it does not work (and we can try another option).
Good luck and hope this helps.

Downgraded from Windows 7 RC1 for Vista Home Premium - now cant access partition Bitlocked
Hello
I've been running Win 7 RC1 7100 32 bit on my laptop since its release and found absolutely great and have not been issued with it either. Unfortunately I had to return to my previous operating system, Vista Home Premium because of the RC1 of the trial is about to expire. (I have not yet bought my new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium).I had a configuration partition C and D under WIn 7 RC1, with D used to store personal data. I used Bitlocker the lock on this partition. I prepare to remove RC1 this weekend I moved all my other documents and downloads of the libraries under the D partition C for later access and moving them back to C when Vista was facing up and running. But when I tried to access the drive D Vista he invites me to format this drive. When I looked under administrative tools - disk management it says that the D partition is secure by Bitlocker. How can I access my data on the D partition? I have a good amount of photos on the D drive and I still need!I thought to download Win 7 RC1 again to install it so I can have access to the Bitlocker tool, but I can't find it on the Net.Please any help would be appreciated. The download is finished for a long time.

Cannot upgrade Vista Home Premium Vista Ultimate 64-bit
I have a computer with an OEM Vista Home Premium 64-bit version installed. I bought Vista Ultimate Upgrade 64-bit and when I try to upgrade instead of clean install I not give me the option to upgrade. Instead, I can install a clean install and lose all programs, settings, I have on my system that has taken a lot of time. Why the copy I bought directly from the microsoft.com site does not my upgrade, even if it is the version upgrade of Vista? I want to be able to do things such as distance to this computer and the Premium version does not allow me.
Thank you for all the advice and help.
Make sure that you do not have 64-bit installed.

Cannot restore backup image Vista Home Premium Vista Ultimate
So recently my house was broken into and my laptop stolen. Fortunately, considerate thieves left my backup hard drive external, I used my destination for Vista Ultimate backups.
Advance of 2 weeks and now I have a new laptop. It has Vista Home premium installed. It is deplorable that I must pay for 2 because Microsoft OS assumed that I am a software pirate and does not give me an OEM OS disk, but I also use a version with fewer features.
But I'm better. Soon I discovered that my non "backups" are not all files that are not some base document/text/music files. All my encrypted volumes that have my REALLY important files were not considered sufficiently specific to save Vista, probably because their extension wasn't .txt, .doc or .mp3.
Fine. In fact, I did disk-image backups. As recently, you mind, but at least most of my stuff should be there.
And, I can't restore my own disk-image backups because Vista Home Premium does not support. Great, not only bought Vista * double *, I'm not allowed to retrieve the files that I recorded with a BONE that I bought and supposed to be always clean, but only in certain intellectual property of Kafka-esque fantasy land.
I tried the 3rd party virtualization software to try to start the image (.vhd files). No go. Can someone tell me how to recover my files? Thanks in advance.
Hi Ixne,
We will not be able to recover an ultimate Image on Home Premium. However, if you have a backup of your entire PC, then you can try to do the same thing in Windows Recovery Mode.
Starting with the DVD of the operating system, once you see the manufacturer of the screen, Tap "F8". Choose the option "full restoration of the PC.
Hope this helps with your problem.

I have a server at home, but one of my main computers cannot remotely access because it is running Vista Home Premium. As a result, I bought a Pack anytime upgrade to upgrade to Vista Ultimate.
When I ran the installer, it downloaded updates to update and then opens a screen where the options are updated or install fresh. However, the update option is grayed out and there is a message at the bottom of the screen saying that if I want I must must upgrade to a newer version of Windows.
A new facility is out of the question for me. I'm almost 2 years of work on the machine and it is set as I want. I have a few training licenses, I don't think I'd be able to reinstall it. Besides, I don't want to spend days and days software and reconfigure my system.
I have a Windows 7 Ultimate machine, but I want to leave this machine as a Vista machine. At I throw my money on the upgrade pack or is there someway around this problem?Looking for a difference in numbers/Service Pack levels.
If Service Packs came pre-installed on the operating system, there is no way to uninstall them.
You will need to swap the disk to upgrade to a later version that includes the missing Service Pack.On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk to upgrade.

Home network problem cannot access one of that PC even if should be able
I ran into a problem... I have a PC running Windows Vista and Windows 7 PC on my network home. I can 'see' each from the other PC PC when I go on the network. The Windows Vista-based computer can access shared folders on the Windows 7 PC... and the Windows Vista computer can share items specially for windows 7 PC SHOULD have access to these folders. I placed the user for the Windows 7 PC as co-owner. HOWEVER, when I go to the network on the Windows 7 option, I select the Vista PC in the network thinking it should then show me the file and instead, troubleshooting network appears.
When I go to the troubleshooter, it says that it can't find the Vista machine... even if it it displays network before I tried to access it.
They are both in the same workgroup. I checked the machine windows 7 has permission for the folder in question indeed. and I've checked that the machine of windows Vista CAN access folders on the windows machine 7...
No idea what I'm missing?
Thank you!
Hi Jim,
1. did you change any software on the computer?
2. where you can access files on Windows Vista earlier?
Method 1:
Please click on this link to find how to share files and specific folders with someone,
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/share-files-with-someone
Method 2:
Disable the antivirus/firewall softwareand check if it helps.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software.
Warning: If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 3:
Turn off sharing protected by password:
Password sharing is enabled by default for computers of working groups. When password sharing is enabled, people using other computers on your network cannot access your shared folders or printers unless they have a user account on your computer. There are two ways to enable file or printer sharing:
o identical user accounts create on all computers in the workgroup (recommended). For more information, see create a user account.
o turn off password protected sharing. To turn off password protected sharing, follow these steps:
a. open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button on the Control Panel, click Network and Internet, and then click Network and sharing Center.
b. under sharing and discovery, click the arrow next to password protected sharing.
c. click turn off password protected sharing, and then click apply. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Please, try the following steps and check.
I hope it works!
