Microsoft licenses allow an install WinXP Home to upgrade to Win7 Pro through the 'Upgrade' of Win7 Pro edition?

Thank you

Yes, Windows XP Home Edition can be an eligible license, but you will need to do a custom installation, there is no direct upgrade path from it.

The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

    Yes, you can.

To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

  • Upgrade Windows 7 home to Windows 7 Pro.

I've upgraded to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional.  Can I reuse my old Windows 7 Home Premium and activate on another computer to replace XP on the second computer?

No, you cannot do this because Windows 7 Home Premium has been used as a license for Windows 7 professional qualification, this is especially true if the:

-Windows 7 Professional is a license upgrade Express
-License upgrade to Windows 7 Professional Retail

If you used a Windows 7 professional full version retail license and Windows 7 Home Premium license qualification is a full version or upgrade of retail, then Yes, you can transfer it.

If Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed, the answer is no.

  • Upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium license transfer

    Hello

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade Microsoft product I bought at a retail store. My question is if I am able to transfer the ownership of this product to a third party with proof of purchase and the product activation key if I removed this software from my computer.

    Kind regards

You have an upgrade to Home Premium Yes, (not an upgrade Express, which is a completely different animal) If Yes, then second part of this paragraph applies to you.

    18. TRANSFER TO A THIRD PARTY.
    a. software other than Windows Anytime Upgrade. The first user of the software may make a time of transfer of the software and this agreement, by transferring the original media, the certificate of authenticity, the product key and the proof of purchase directly to a third party. The first user must remove the software before transferring it separately from the computer. The first user may not retain any copies of the software.

  • How much of my licenses of Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack do I used so far? How will I know?

Howdy ladies and gentlemen! We just moved and have not seen my computer stuff in about 5 months. Just long enough to forget how many licenses I used my pack Win7 Home Prem Upg retail box 3. Which one of the smarties can you help me understand how / if none of them have been used. I think I still 2 has left this 3 pack, but how do you know? I don't want to go through the process of trying to upgrade a Vista computer I inherited only if I do not have a license to the left.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to help you with that. Even if you were to exhaust your existing licenses, you can reactivate by phone:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • N7J89EA #ABU: upgrading Windows 10 home

I have a new x 360 convertible N7J89EA #ABU running Windows Home 10. I have an MSDN subscription, I want to upgrade to Pro 10 Windows so that I be supported in the field.

Is it possible to do this upgrade of the home installed Windows 10, or do I have to install Windows 10 Pro on bare metal?

    Hi André,.

You're probably not an issue experienced answer to have this exact model to upgrade (stage pro) via MSDN on this site, as most of us are just enthusiasts who volunteer.

But I guess that's fine since you are mainly just unlock functions not given in the original version.

You will want to upgrade first, then if she runs into a problem, CLEAN install after.

I'm sure you already know how that works well and make sure to create a copy of recovery for safety, in case recovery partition link gets broken and you have to go back.

Personally, after I updated, I pass on a SSD and pure install just if he would fly.

But that's just my humble opinion.

  • License of Windows Vista Home Premium OEM Windows 7 Professional, what license needed?

If I want to upgrade my laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium OEM of Windows 7 Professional license, should which license I buy? is there available upgrade options? or a new Cabinet is necessary?

    Hello

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

  • Windows upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional

Can upgrade you Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional using the full version of Windows 7 Professional with Windows anytime upgrade?

Please note that the Express upgrade does not support OEM, MSDN-Academic, Volume (the student faculty licenses) license. If you are in position of all these brackets, you will need to save and do a custom clean install. If you do, please save first your installation of Windows 7 Home Premium. Some licenses for the Windows licenses distributed to tertiary level students are not perpetual, which means that you cannot continue to use the software after a course or graduating.

  • Upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) to Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade (64-bit) - option student... is this doable?

Hello - I have a computer with Win7 Home Premium 64-bit installed OEM directly from the manufacturer.

My University Bookstore offers Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade 32/64 - bit (English) (Student Option) - download

at a reduced price, but the description says:

Use this table to determine if you should make a bet to level or custom (clean) installation.

Windows 7 family (* this is mine *) Custom installation required Custom installation required

Question is - why do I need a "custom installation" and not an upgrade? I am a bit confused by this description and hope someone can help me to clarify. I'd like to be able to do an upgrade so that I don't have to fuss with all the files I have and avoid the relocation of all my backup software. Thanks for any idea that anyone can provide.

If I do the custom Setup, please indicate on the measures to be taken. Thanks again.

To do as it says, the on-screen instructions are clear, and you should ALWAYS back up the data before making any major changes.

Note that an upgrade installation or custom are considered a MAJOR change... :-)

  • upgrade Windows 7 home premium to professional with the upgrade retail pack

I bought a purchase of combo offered with my purchase of Vaio computer upgraded to professional when I get computers.  It has proved to be an update for windows vista.  It wouldn't let me install it.  He said switching from windows anytime upgrade.  Is there a way to upgrade to Professional by using the product key from retail packaging without having to repurchase?

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, follow the on-screen Wizard, enter the key to Windows 7 Professional on demand, click on, and then restart your computer when you are prompted. Less than 10 minutes, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and your files and settings retained. Andre Da Costa http://adacosta.spaces.live.com http://www.activewin.com
