Issue of ThinkPad tablet 2 Factory Reset reinstall Windows

Please help me. I have problems to reinstalling windows on my thinkpad Tablet 2. I have a long enough thread explaining my problem here, http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/lenovo-ibm/62633-thinkpad-tablet-2-factory-reset-reinstall-windows.h... if someone could help me I would be very grateful. I'll copy and paste the thread here, if I have to, but it's just easier to copy the link.

Fastest salvation,

I had similar problems to you with a number of our TPT2s. They are really picky when it comes to boot from an external support. Here's how I got mine to (possibly) regularly start on external media. However, one thing to note is that, in order to recover Windows 8 on it, you're either going to need disk recovery Lenovo or an installation of Windows 8 of your own disc. I have no idea if the drivers listed on the Lenovo site will work with anything as old as XP, although I remember some Windows 7 see so if you have a Win7 disc you might try that.

1. disable the Secure Boot UEFI in the BIOS. [BIOS |] SECURITY | SECURE BOOT | [* Change the secure startup flag ' disabled]

2 get some kind of separator/hub USB so that you can plug your external DVD drive with a keyboard (Microsoft still require you to "push any key to boot from CD" and touch the screen does not count).

3. with the drive and the keyboard is connected, set the boot order in the BIOS so that the CD/DVD drive is the first boot option. I also push the Windows boot manager at the bottom of the list if it is there. Do, but I'm a superstitious Guy and save the changes.

4. as long as the DVD drive has adequate power (need an external power supply. He cannot draw enough power from the USB port of the tablet to run) and you have a Windows disc 8/7 in the drive, you should now receive the message "press any key to boot from the CD-ROM. Press a button and it should... Finally... it takes much longer than any normal device... starting in the installation menu.

Each step of this lasts longer than you expect. For example, it takes an age for the message "Press any key" is displayed. It just sits there with a black screen and the DVD blowing away.

That's how I got mine to work in any case, best of second chance.

  • Reinstall Windows 7/Factory reset without windows installed

I have an Inspiron R14 N4010, I recently installed Ubuntu 13.04, removing the stock of Windows 7.

I have implemented so that Ubuntu uses a logically partition but still leaves enough space for a future reinstallation of windows 7, the two utility Dell and recovery partitions were left intact.

Ubuntu, of course installed without any major problems. Now I want to reinstall Windows 7 sotck in space, I left blank on the disc.

After trying all morning I can not access the recovery partition to the life of me.
The linux boot loader (GRUB) automatically detects the recovery partition, but it fails with code 225, something on the missing disk.
It was my only hope for and ease of installation, after I have looked for ways to start the option "Fix the system" at startup.
After a long period of F8 F12 and F2 and Fn + FX and effing combinations all the keys to the top, I came to the conclusion that the F8 thing is a windows and not function BIOS, I can not access without a system already installed windows.

Am so much I really messed up, is this useless recovery partition? Any suggestion on how to proceed?
I'll try to upload a copy of windows 7 and then try it n dvd serious. On the other hand, seems, no DVD or extra stuff supplied with the Dell machine.
I just press the F8 thingy? Is there a way to access the partition restoration and refurbishing the factory without a system already installed?

    Thanks for any help.

I installed successfully in this way, the util windows DISKPART, is bad and almost destroyed my Ubuntu system partition, I didn't create partition on the free space.

In any case, it's easily fixable, image windows inside the recovery partition system was simple and later Ubuntu detect successfully the new Windows 7 and it boot.

Uh, sorry for the bad writing, I'm a little sleepy. Thank you for people to help, people should see this for future reference.

I am very surprised that computer technology has not corrected other problems since the it had replaced the power supply and should have the knowledge necessary to get you up and ongoing enforcement.

If you do not have a set of external support of HP recovery, then you should consider ordering a set of HP as soon as POSSIBLE, you might have other issues that may require external support.

  • Factory reset for Windows 7 will restore my BIOS too to its original state when I bought it?

I now use Windows 8, I bought my laptop in JULY 2012. It came with Windows Home Premium and I have the recovery disc for Windows 7. I intend to factory reset my laptop because of my disappointment with Windows 8 and supprt for Windows 8.

I want to know if the "factory Reset" will restore the BIOS of the laptop in its original state. I mean I have my BIOS set to update to the latest. I want to return to its former State. How long is the factory reset also takes? I own edition HP DV6T Quad 7000 with 32 GB WSSD.

Intel RST does not have anything, my HARD drive is shown in non-RAID and there is no way I can change it to RAID. My last option is to try the Factory Reset and see if it helps. I'm sure that TSRI will work if my BIOS is restored to the original condition with everything so it starts to detect my HDD in RAID.

    Hello

A factory image recovery will not affect the version of BIOS or current settings. The duration during which the factory image recovery takes wil depend on what type of recovery media that you have. If you have a usb recovery media that it will probably wait maybe thiry minutes. Use you a recovery value disk while recovery might take a few hours to complete.

Once you start the recovery not to touch the keyboard.

Make sure that the wireless is turned on before commit you to the recovery.

    Best regards

There is some unnecessary programs from ASUS on it and the computer worked quite slowly, so I'm trying to do a factory reset, but when I try, I always get the message "Unable to find the necessary files" and then it asks me to insert the installation disk or media, but I don't have one of those. I tried to go to the command prompt and doing reagentc/Enable, but every time I try I get the message "Windows RE image is not found." Then... I don't know what to do and really need help.

I understand the inconvenience caused to you.

To remove unnecessary programs provided by ASUS, you can uninstall programs and features.

Here is the link for more information.

If you reset the PC, all your PC applications will be reinstalled. So, I wish that you contact the ASUS support for assistance to eliminate programs and get the recovery disk to perform the Reset if you want to do it again.

    Hello

    Please contact Microsoft Community.

Problem description I understand that, as he tried factory reset on Windows 10 downgrade to Windows 7, I was interrupted and now the computer will not start, its is no start state. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Will he react when you press the keys on the BIOS Setup? Like F2, F10, ESC or del key to start the configuration of the BIOS?

If so, then let us try to repair your computer by creating a Windows 10 bootable (I.e. media USB or DVD) using media creation tool.  Use of some other PC connected to the Internet for the creation of bootable media. Once you are ready with bootable media, follow the below mentioned steps.

    1. Insert the Windows installation disc in the disc drive or connect a USB media, and then start the computer.
    2. When the message press any key to start from the CD or DVD is displayed, press a key.
If your PC does not automatically detect the media

      1. When the computer reboots, read on screen for instructions that explain how to interrupt normal startup and access the basic input/output system (BIOS) configuration utility. Most PCs use the F2, F10, ESC or del key to start the configuration of the BIOS.
      2. Looking for a tab in the BIOS configuration utility that is labeled boot order, The Options of Bootor Boot. By following the instructions on the screen, use the arrow keys to go to the boot order, and then press ENTER.
      3. Locate the flash USB, DVD or CD player (this could be called removable device) in the startup list. By following the instructions on the screen, use the arrow keys to move the drive to the top so that it appears first in the startup list. Press ENTER. The startup command sequence is now changed to boot from the flash drive, CD, DVD, or USB.
      4. Press F10 to save your changes and exit the BIOS Setup utility. Select Yes in the confirmation window. The PC will restart. Leave the PC restart normally. The scan will take a few minutes and remove any malware that could infect your computer.
    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next.
    4. Click repair your computer.
    5. Click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    6. On the page choose an options screen, select Troubleshooting. Select Advanced >Startup Repair
    7. If it is not the problem, then go to the command prompt under Advanced Options.
    8. Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd, and then press ENTER.

Hope the helps of information. Keep us updated on Windows related queries and we will be happy to help you further.

  • Activate windows 8 after factory reset

Recently, I bought an SSD to speed up my computer. I used a program to extract the product code and backed up my files. I bought windows 8 with the 'Windows anytime upgrade offer' a year ago, I previously ran windows 7 Professional, now win 8 pro. the code given with my PC did not work as well. activation of the phone did not work too well, so what to do next?

  • Inspiron 570 Factory Reset Win 7 SP1 desktop PC

My Inspiron 570 Deskto was slow. I decided to do a factory reset. I backed up all my important files first. Then my pc got worse. It wouldn't boot.   I ran the diagnostics (F12) and he said I had bad sectors. Then I tried to do a factory reset (F8) I followed all the steps, but nothing happened. Now, the only way to run commands in windows is through CMD.

    I need help please.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Please let us know the exact error code that arises during the diagnosis.

If the code was 0142 or 0146 or DST smart test failed, then the HD is faulty and should be replaced.

If the sectors are corrupted, then factory reset and windows installation will help only to a certain extent.

  • How to factory reset or reinstall windows on HP Jet 7?

Tried to get in touch with HP customer care by phone several times, but I'm never here during the opening hours.

When I got my tablet, the following occurs:

I turn it on, and at the end of 5 or 10 seconds of the HP logo it will go black again. I can access BIOS menus, this isn't a charging problem (although the only time where I've been on the live chat with HP they said it was... it was obviously power)

When I went into the menu of the BIOS (Power + volume down) and you press the system recovery option, he would do the same thing (logo of hp for 5 or more seconds then go black)

    What I tried to do:

-The system diagnostic tests; they all say that the tablet itself is OK. This leads me to believe that I need to reinstall windows somehow.

-Rewrite of the BIOS (the volume + volume down + power); It will rewrite the BIOS, but the same problem will occur.

-Trunk network; same problem once more.

Accordingly, I am looking for a way of properly factory reset my tablet or reinstall windows on my tablet. I really need for College it is therefore essential that I can solve this problem.

Hi, I had this problem and others here did also.  The fix for me ran the battery all the way down so that the CMOS to reset.  One of the threads detailing this difficulty is here.  Once you get the tablet to the top, you can update for the last EFI firmware and that should hopefully prevent it from happening again.

You can, but you still need their intermediate certificate for the SAA can set up a chain of trust from the issued certificate (if it is initially issued or reissued)

  • HP ENVY m6-1125dx: Beats Audio In/Out-put pilot missing AFTER Factory Reset/OfficeProgram reinstalling Windows

    Hello

So about three months ago I had a problem with my HP mouse and browser. both were glitching on screen and does not allow me to type consistently or right-click (to copy, paste, etc.). After seeking help from technology College friends, HP reps (which were not useful since my ch isn't under warranty anymore) and work friends, no one would understand it. I decided to make a setting reset according to which did not help. Then, a factory reset. Finally, it fixed my problem, yay no glitching more! So I contacted Microsoft to reinstall my Microsoft Office. After I have reset a computer and everything was in order, I hung up with them. By attempting to play a video a few moments later, I noticed that my volume is not working. I tried through the Troubleshooting Device Manager (replied 'No audio device found'), by lifting missing audio drivers via the HP Web site (found nothing) and call Microsoft to see what they could do since HP reps no help. So far, no progress is possible except that Microsoft has discovered that he is no longer an audio in/out located on my device. This is absurd! My laptop was purchased 2 years ago for around $500 with award-winning special Beats Audio Sound System. I want to come back. I was forced to resolve the previous question myself and I wa slucky enough to find a way. But now, I am presented with an audio problem I'm afraid that I can't solve in my favor.

If someone who comes through my investigation has informed business and education with a solution to the please my problem do not hesitate to contact me with your advice and your credentials. I'm willing to try anything at this point, but of course not at the expense of my computer. Experienced responses welcome!

I hope someone can help me. Manager Microsoft is kind enough and plans to call me again today at 15:00. But, I really don't think there is anything else on our end that we can do. It's all HP to reinstall the audio driver Beats for me once again.

    Thanks in advance.
