It is advisable to always run a laptop on sector when the battery is fully charged?

Someone told me that when you use your laptop with the battery charged upwards and plugged power cord you run the risk of overloading your battery which could lead to the destruction of your battery.  Is this possible?

Hello

This is up-to-date information which is the case of the old systems with NiCad and NiMh batteries.

Control Panel control - plan change Options - power plans - power - advanced settings
Parameters for the drainage and the use of parameters (this is how much to use and not how much or how)
long to load).

In fact, what causes a lot of wear on a battery empties it too low on several occasions. With
systems today, the premiums is not a problem.

Here are some tips to help and troubleshoot battery issues.

Old battery? Unplug the power to the computer - remove the battery and clean the contacts with a pencil
eraser (do not use this, if your battery is fine slots - just clean up the edges of the knife which fit in)
them and be careful). Batteries are old, or it could be a problem with the computer.
Check with the support of the machine system, and many of them have online forums.

New Lithium-Ion type battery usually last longer if you do not unload their less than 30%
However on a laptop that not extend their life a lot. Best is to use the a/c adapter
When this is possible.

I use the free version of BatteryBar to monitor my battery. Click on the green button on the

    Hello

The best information comes from the machine system.

  • PC HP Envy 15 x 360: my laptop turns off when the battery reaches 10%

Whenever my laptop reaches 10%, will switch to "standby" and won't do anything until I plug the charger. Is this normal? Is it possible to change this?

    Hello

Yes, it's quite normal. You can set it to tell you and stop at lower % (or 5%) with power option.

    Kind regards.

  • My laptop is plugged in, but the battery won't charge

    Hello

In the last two months, capability of my laptop to charge its battery has degraded.
She went to a battery completely (100%), not being able to load beyond 98% and then 66% and 30%, and now finally, it says "0% availability (plugged in, charge)", but it never increases support.

Thus, the laptop works when plugged into the charger, but does not illuminate when it is attached only on the battery.

I rebooted the computer several times - first to stop the machine, then unplug it, remove the battery, press and hold the Start button for a minute, then put the battery back, plug the charger in and rebooting the machine.

I installed updates for "Stacks" (IE. Microsoft AC adapter, compatible ACPI Microsoft control method battery and battery Composite Microsoft) in Device Manager.
I also uninstalled the Microsoft ACPI complaint method stack and shutdown and restarted the laptop several times.

Earlier I called Toshiba support and update the BIOS of 1.50 to 1.70, then restarted the computer, but yet again, the battery won't charge.

I bought a new battery, which showed that it was fully charged when when I have attached to my laptop, but when exhausted 0% load, I got the same message as for the other battery: "0% availability (plugged in, load).

I am really puzzled. If not, how can I try to increase the capacity of my laptop battery?

In my opinion, old battery was certainly defective.
Is your new original battery, Toshiba battery or any part of third-party product?

  • Laptop starts up when the lid is opened

I spilled some water on the laptop. I used AC power with no battery attached. When this happens, I quickly pulled the plug. I knew that the warranty does not damage the water so I dissamble each component and put them in dry box for a week. Then I used alcohol to remove all stains left behind.

After I got everything back up, the laptop starts fine when the lid is closed and hooked to an external monitor. Can I use any program withou any problem. But it wouldn't start when the cover is open. It was as if someone was holding down the power button to force the computer to turn off.

My question is, how the laptop detects if the lid is open or closed? It is magnetic, or is it using a switch as a reed switch?

Most newer laptops have a sensor (switch) magnetic in the cover of the screen bezel or the touchpad.

You can test that by sliding a small magnet around the telescope cover touchpad area and/or.

    Hello
    (1) when you receive this error message?
    (2) what is the brand and model of your computer?
    (3) did you change on your computer before this problem?
It seems that the adapter has gone wrong, I suggest you to connect another card and see if the problem still occurs.

    JNMilan,

It is not possible. You must use a third-party software to do or contact the manufacturer.

Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • Vista on the XPS M1330 laptop lost wireless when the lid closed (using the external monitor)

    Hello

I bought an external monitor/keyboard/mouse for my laptop XPS M1330 (connection of the monitor via a HDMI to DVI cable).  However as soon as the lid is closed the wireless network stops working - opening the lid immediately launches the application again.  A network through a physical cable connection works with the closing of the cover.  Note, the network remains connected (or at least is always intended to be connected) it has not sent or received no information, while the lid is closed.

XPS M1330 laptop under Vista Home Premium SP1 - Wireless card is Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG running the latest drivers 11.5.0.32.

Power options are obviously set to shut down the computer laptop shut down, goes to stand by, or go into hybernation when the lid is closed... it is set to 'status quo '.  The properties of the wireless card has the "Ad hoc power management" disabled and the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" unchecked.

When the cover is opened, the monitor takes the maximum size of the screen of the laptop, which goes against the objective set for the monitor in the first place.

(As a side note, the laptop also refused to work with a wired via a network connection "homeplug" - even if a hub is placed between the laptop and the homeplug - and I refuse to run a cable between the router as the laptop will be used in another room of the router).

Is there a solution to this, or is this a problem with Vista?  (Because if this is the case, it is yet another nail in the coffin - and it becomes difficult to find any more room for nails more!  Windows 7 is fast approaching!)

    See you soon,.
    Tom

    Hi tom101449,

    ·          The WiFi was working fine earlier?

    ·          You did it all change hardware or software on your computer before this problem?

    Method 1

If the problem occurs after you install the latest drivers Intel PRO / Wireless, you can restore the drivers for the card wireless to the previous version. For more information, see this link.

Restore a driver with its previous version

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/restore-a-driver-to-its-previous-version

    Method 2

When you connect to your wireless network, make sure that the option 'Save this network' is checked.

In addition, right-click on the network > properties, then on the connection tab, check the box that says "connect automatically when this network is in range.

  • Your laptop is plugged in and the battery won't charge. __

MY LAPTOP WILL ONLY START WHEN CONNECTED TO THE UNIT FROM THE WALL BUT NOT SE LOAD AT ALL. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO LOAD A NIGHT & STILL NO CHARGE WHAT SO EVER. WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS? WHAT IS MY HARDWARE?

The battery would be my first guess that the PC works directly on the charger - but it could also be the program to load the battery and connections.  Remove and replace the battery to make sure that the connections are solid.  If you have another battery (or access to another battery, you can try to see if the problem persists or if he disappears - then you will be very well known.)  In any case, if this is not possible, I recommend that take you it to a repair shop computer (or return it to the manufacturer) for the diagnosis, repair or replacement.

I don't know any way to test this situation without special equipment or replacement parts.  You can always try to re - install the operating system to rule out a software problem (if you want to do business with what this implies in terms of data backup and reinstall applications and reconfigure the settings and others).  Without info on the manufacturer, brand and model (and operating system), I can't help you more in this option.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Computer laptop dv5 off suddenly when the battery charge reaches46%

First of all, thank you in advance for any help possible.

Of heres my portable computer Spec

    Intel (r) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU P8400 2.26 GHz 2.27 GHz

    3.00 GB RAM

    Windows Vista.

    Problem:

Well my laptop around 1 year and something weird started happening a few days back... whenever my laptop unplugged and reached 46% battery charge it suddenly turns OFF... after that whenever I try to start to just the screen where it tells u whether to start windows normally or not... and turns off again... the only way to pitch it up is to plug the adapter sector and then it starts normally. I tried to calibrate the battery using the bios, but this option is not there in my laptop... try manually is not useful because it disables always when it reached 46%... so I can not entirely drain my battery.

someone has an idea of what is my problem?

    pascs wrote:

No its is no longer under warranty may be 1 year and a month I think.

Then replacing the battery is what you need to do. You should be able to get a replacement battery has a reasonable price online. There is no obligation to buy an original HP battery.

  • Computer user connection laptop turns off when the lid is closed

How can I configure my laptop to disconnect the current user (switch not only users) and force them to close all programs when the lid is closed, and then switch to sleep mode?

There is no direct option for this, but you can create a batch file that has orders for logoff, then the command for the night and have that run the trigger of "Lock Workstation".

Task Scheduler allows many triggers.  Type Task Scheduler in your Start menu, and then click New task on the right side to explore your options.

My laptop told me that my battery should replace... I have to keep my power cord in now all the time coz my battery poer only changed as 5 minutes... is it safe out of my battery and run the laptop the power cord?

    Hello:

    Yes, you can do it.

Is it a matter of having a lighter weight?

You can also run the power cord with the battery installed.

Sometimes the battery is so bad that you have to remove and the laptop will not work with the battery removed and plugged power cord.

  • computer laptop 15-p009nk: touch the battery compartment

Hey, I just realized I can run my laptop with no battery that is good to increase the battery life that I read on various Web sites, although battery HP leave a huge hole and I was wondering if its safe to put the laptop on my lap, could touch the connector of the battery (metal thing) electrify me or something?

    Thanks in advance!

Contacts work pretty well as any other device that accepts batteries-cameras, phones, radios, etc. Contacts receive energy from the energy of battery output, not. Put on your lap has higher risk of blocking the vents and causing overheating as the danger of the contacts.
