It is important to install all the updates popping up on my computer?

Installation of updates

I was wondering if it is important to install all the updates popping up on my computer.  Looks like I get notifications every day!  Is it good or bad to make them... and so good, that I have to do all of them?  What those specifically do I do?  HELP CoffeeAnnie

You need install all the critical updates in order to preserve the safety of various exploits of hackers and malware from your Vista.  Also called security updates, these loopholes hackers have found to enter your system somehow.  Important updates correct various problems of performance.  All updates are designed to prevent potential problems and enhance your Windows experience.

Normally, the new updates are available on Windows Update the second Tuesday (aka "Patch Tuesday") of each month.  Occaisionally updates are also available on the fourth Tuesday as well, but the vast majority is released on Patch Tuesday.  The only time when Windows updates are offered to other dates is when an update is critical at the moment, which means that Microsoft has detected an imminent danger of criticism for its users.

Office updates follow the same pattern.

There are other Microsoft products including the team out of updates on a different schedule, but who do not concern most users.

I recommend to use the automatic updates and install programs.  Keep your Windows up-to-date protects your investment in your computer.

    FOR INFO:

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft does normally or those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft is based from the 3rd hardware manufacturer left to provide.

  • COM Surrogate does not work on my computer. I installed all THE updates, but this still does not work. Help, please.

I don't know what is COM Surrogate.  It lights up just on the screen and I don't know why!  He just tells me to install important updates, what I've done.

    Hi Carolina,.

According to Alexander in this thread of TechNet:
"COM Surrogate (dllhost.exe) is an application that is often used by Windows Explorer to isolate themselves from codecs (if explore would be the codecs in its own process, it would crash as it did in XP, so explore generates dllhost to actually treat the miniatures, etc outside its process space)."
There are a few things that people have done to solve the problem.
    1. If you have Nero or Roxio Easy CD Creator installed, try to uninstall it to see if this problem is still happening.
' 2 ' Kiifer ' reported that checking the "Always show icons" option in folder options seems to have solved their problem.
Click Start > click computer > press the Alt key to bring up the menu option Tools > click on options files > click the View tab > check the box for always show icons, never thumbnails. This is the first check box under files and folders.
    Please keep us updated.
  • Do not install all the updates of windows 7

I continue to have this problem, even though I tried each index shown in previous messages here. The only update that never installs successfully in one for Windows Defender. This whole situation makes this computer basically useless, because whenever I stopped him, he wants to install updates to 50-60. Yes, I tried FIXIT, turning off av software, Defender off. Clean boot and all to nothing does not.  Is there something new to try?

I am running Win 7 Home premium on an HP G60t-200 using an SSD for the one and only disk.

Two of my Win 7 Pro offices appear to update without any problem.

Has anyone ever found this problem?

I appreciate the answers to this question, but I wasn't able to try them. My situation has become a matter of time. Because I had a recent upward, I just reformat the disk (SSD) and reinstalled the operating system from scratch. Then found that I need to backup and was on my way. After installation then again, of course things were behind many updates. I have just let sit overnight and the next day all updates were completed successfully.

The info about BIT was deposited in my account information.

    Thanks for the replies

  • What happens to my all the updates, if I Re install Win 7 new

After 3 years, I found that the supporter of Windows 7 (70 GB) is full in my hard drive, can be due to many UPDATES all these years. Because I don't know how to free up space on this drive, I decided to re - install Windows 7 again. In this case, what happens to all my received UPDATES earlier. Do I have to download all the UPDATES again? Help, please

Yes, you will need to submit a new application of updates after reinstall. However some later updates are in fact replaced by later that the results can be more effective. I also download and manually apply service packs on new construction as allows me to apply the setting "nobackup.

On the last one I made after that the SPs, I had a little less than 100 updates to apply to the wide then came running clean disk with the option to clean the system files to delete history of update files.

  • Pop up and the risks of malware without all the updates

    Hello

I recently bought a MBP of the retina.

When I start the MBP I visited directly a website on safari to learn how to use, "debutersurmac.com."

Updates was not finished (I was downloading El capitan) and a pop up came up with this message (in French):

    "Your MB have been infected...".

At the bottom right has a button to close",

I closed safari directly and then I saw the message, had no time to screen printing...

One moment, the site was in my story, but now is not.

The name of the site is: //win support error / /...

Is that what someone did already saw this pop up?

I did not click on close, but can it be risky to the MBP without all the updates installed?

On Mac it is possible to see if the Web site installed something?

    Thanks in advance,

Sorry for the English, I was not talking since college.

PS: I just started on Mac 2 hours...

Force Quit Safari by using the command + Option + ESC keyboard shortcut then restart Safari while holding down the SHIFT key.

After Safari re lance go in the menu bar, click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab, then click: delete all data from the Web site then leave then restart Safari.

Thank you for your advice in this thread http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-windows_update/why-does-security-update-for-microsoft-office-xp/fa6c7729-c772-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5 .  I have Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 installed on my coimputer and I am able to install all other updates Microsoft except this one (Office XP (KB2289162).  I tried your suggestion to turn off my antivirus and then install the stand-alone package.  However, it is still impossible to install.  This time, I receieved an error message referring to the lack of permission to make changes in Microsoft Office Small Business Edition (which is the version of Office that I have).  I don't know why this would be the case, since I have never had a problem with update of Microsoft Office in the past.

If you or someone else has other suggestions, I'd appreciate them.

    Thank you.

    Hi Mike,.

Thanks for the reply, the steps were actually written originally for Windows XP and are still valid. As you can see in the SubinACL download it is designed to work in all versions of windows. The indications in the thread (also posted here) should help you reset the permissions problem. Once again, the reason for which we do, it's because the update fails to install due to permissions on some files/registry values. Rather than browsing manually, then find the specific that does not respect these steps reset them to the default settings and must

1 download subinacl.msi from following link and save it to the desktop.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4a91-93Cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en#AffinityDownloads (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en#AffinityDownloads)
    2. on the desktop, double-click subinacl.msi to install the tool.
    3. Select as destination folder C:\Windows\System32.
Note This step assumes that Windows is installed in C:\Windows. If Windows is installed elsewhere, select the path appropriate to \System32.
    4. open Notepad.
5 copy the following commands, and then paste them into the open window of the notebook .

    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Grant = administrators = f
    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Grant = administrators = f
    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Grant = administrators = f
    Subinacl % lecteur_systeme % /subdirectories / Grant = administrators = f
    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Grant = system = f
    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Grant = system = f
    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Grant = system = f
    Subinacl % lecteur_systeme % /subdirectories / Grant = system = f

    6. in Notepad, click file, record underand then type:reset.cmd
    7. in Notepad, click Save as type, and then select all files (*. *).
    8. save the reset.cmdfile on your desktop and close Notepad.
    9. double-click on the reset.cmdfile to reset permissions in Windows Update.
Note This step can take several minutes, so please be patient. When permissions have been reset, you will be prompted to "finished, press any key to continue."
    10. Press any key to finish the installation.resolve this question.

  • Installed all the drivers from HP for HP17-3077NR site, still a PCI device is uninstalled

    Hi all

I had recently no other choice, then to reinstall Windows 7 64 bit on my HP Envy 17-3077NR. Everything works well so far, but I noticed that in Device Manager, a PCI device seems not to be installed. I tried an extensive search on the internet, has tried to update the driver on Windows. Uninstalled the resettled drivers and the device new & again. I installed all the drivers from the hp website for my 17-3077nr, but still a PCI device is uninstalled. Nothing seems to work. This is the first time that I am reaching out in a forum, because I'm desperate.

Anyone have an idea I was not yet executed?

Hi, I can't get 10 App window on my PC in Win7 SP1 despite all the updates. I ran the utility software troubleshooting GWA and he said that my PC is not up-to-date. I had followed all the instructions on the troubleshooting page.
