    We have two connectors that would be plugged into the power supply and in the 'brick' that holds some sample we want to warm up. This has worked well for our initial target, but we are now interested in time these events alongside 1-2 other instruments that we are exploited (for example a-ohmmeter for quality control), where we can control all this through LabVIEW. Say, only allowing the power reaching the sample at intervals of 5 seconds, with widths of 1-2 seconds impulse.

    I'm sure I'll need a multifunction data acquisition device, and I already have my eyes fixed on the purchase of the NI USB-6501 (link below). My main question is about any additional material which is necesasry, if only a debate of ideas cenceptual on what I'm trying to accomplish. I can do everything I plan only through the acquisition of data, or are there other necessary materials, such as doors? What type of material is suitable for it? I apologize if this is the wrong sub-forum for this topic, as seems to be the subforum of material more appropriate upon publication. Thanks for your time!

    Not even an analog command on this power supply... Range of tension and how much power do you need?  You may be able to make an operational amplifier circuit, but find out who can handle that many likely power won't be easy.

    Honestly, I say just to bite the bullet and get a programmable power supply.  It will be cheaper as you try to make a personalized tour to adapt to a peg in a hole square circle.

    Probably a bit overkill for 24V solenoids, especially when you really need ~ 5 watts...

    Unless there is a reason you need programmability beyond what you can do with data acquisition, I'm not spending $500 + on a programmable power supply.

    What Sorensen XEL power compatible with labview? I'm in the automotive field of vehicle dashboard. I want to test and simulate different transient conditions that may generate noise in the pipe I needed of a programmable power supply. Currently I have a NIcompactRIO configuration. I needed voltage output cards higher simulation and test requirements and special conditions.

    I was told that the Sorensen XEL series is compatible with Labview. Is this fair? The other question I have is NIcompactRIO uses IP Ethernet, but Sorensen communication RS 232 communication. Can I have some possible parallel communication with Labview frontend Protocol, controlling all the two from the same unique computer.

    Third, what are the function blocks required in the VI for Sorensen.And programming last but least, where can I get a drivers Sorensen RS 232?

    Nothing in this VI with Ethernet communication so I don't understand what you're asking.

    Rather than add a \r\n with each entry, I recommend you set up VISA to automatically add and I would also recommend that you enable the character to stop playing as well. Then, there was no need for the VISA to the Serial Port bytes and these expectations. Look at the example of advanced series to learn how to set the VISA property to add a termination character.

    I have the newest AirPort Extreme (http://www.apple.com/shop/product/ME918LL/A/airport-extreme?fnode=7f) and I recently moved to my room in my basement to the second guest room floor providing a 2.4 GHz and the private network wifi 5 GHz (two separate networks) to my house.

    I read on the sleep disorders causing wifi signals and how it can cause generally negative effects be exposed continuously to EMF signals.

    What I'm wondering is it would be harmful to my AirPort Extreme to put it on a timer plug (ELS https://www.amazon.com/Enover-Programmable-Digital-3-prong-Appliances/dp/B0191ZG/ref = sr_1_2? ie = UTF8 & qid = 1469557186 & SR...) so that I can program it to turn off the power to the router around 11:30 and turn it on again around 06:00; eliminating privileged exposure to EMF for me and potential customers during the hours of sleep?

    I understand that many of us may be divided or not there is any real effect signals wifi on sleep/general health-it's NOT what I'm asking.

    Everything interests me is whether or not it would be damaging for the router AirPort Extreme to cut the power at night via a programmer power socket and then to restore it again in the morning on a daily basis.  It will shorten the life expectancy of my router?  This will degrade the quality of my wifi over time signal?  Thank you in advance for the answers!

    The debate about so consistently turn a device and off is better or worse that just leaving all the time has happened since household electronic appliances were introduced.

    One school of thought argues that constant power down and the cycle puts more emphasis on the electronics inside that just letting the device at any time and this extra stress can lead to a shorter life for the product.

    Another school says it does not matter as the power on and off the power of everyday, or has left the whole time that the life expectancy of the product is concerned.

    Make your choice... good arguments can be advanced for or against powering a device works every day. Call him a link if you want, or return a coin.

    Personally, I lean toward the school "let him", if not because the internet connection and network is likely to be more reliable in this way.     Really, you have not used your Google-fu if you do not find a programmable power of ca. Keysight and California Instruments are just two of several suppliers.

  • PXI-4110 deactivation and activation of the output

    I'm programmming power CC PXI-4110. I want to activate and deactivate the outputs. I use niDCPower_Disable() to disable the outputs. and the use of niDCPower_Initiate() to activate the outputs. Problem is after I have activate the outputs with niDCPower_Disable() and with niDCPower_Initiate() that I lose all my settings as the output voltage. What I so niDCPower_ConfigureVoltageLevel() and niDCPower_ConfigureCurrentLimit() call before calling niDCPower_Initiate() then outputs are put to the required voltage.

    I want to do is turn on and off just like pushing a button on a Panel.

    For example, I call niDCPower_Disable() to open the relay switch.

    It seems to me like there is a function niDCPower_Enable() which would close this switching relay and not reset all my voltage and current limit settings.

    Any help on the best way to proceed would be appreciated.

    Figured it out using:

    status = niDCPower_ConfigureOutputEnabled (vi_4110_0, channel0Name, VI_FALSE);

    to turn off and then I start with

    status = niDCPower_Initiate (vi_4110_0);

    In this way, my diet is ready to go, but my relay is open.

    When I'm ready to close the relay I follow these steps:
    status = niDCPower_ConfigureOutputEnabled (vi_4110_0, channel0Name, VI_TRUE);

    Then later I want to open the relay call again I have only this:

    status = niDCPower_ConfigureOutputEnabled (vi_4110_0, channel0Name, VI_FALSE);

    Problem solved.

  • Sorensen XG 60-14 error

    I have a problem with a programmable power recently bought Sorensen XG 60-14. In my application (LabView 2012), I use this power to fuel a cooler through regulation PID Peltier. My code sets the current performance of the PSU to the all the 1 sec. My application works without any problem for days, until like 4-5 days, and then I get a crash.

    The first problem is that, when I get the error, the LabView gives a pop up window asking continue so or stop? This is really not good, since my code should stop completely in case of error (I wrote my code in a way if there is error, he must close and stop all other material, like other power supplies). I used the official "lvlib" Sorensen to make my own screws, see set in the zip file.

    In my code, I first tried to use the "configure Output.vi" Sorensen VI official with very little modification, but usually, I got errors and accidents after 2 or 3 days. So I decided to get rid of dish-sequence-structure and also unnecessary allow exit on every play, so I set it too.

    Now I use the Output_Sorensen_XG.vi 'configure', and I call it the "Sorensen_XG_psu.vi." So in my high level VI, I call these screws with 1 Hz frequency.

    First, I here insert the photo of the first error that I consider a pop-up error:

    What can be the problem? I created leak memory somehow? I should close some refnums in the Output_Sorensen_XG.vi 'configure' after each iteration, there is a lot of property nodes?

    EDIT: actually, I realized that the second jpg is the info error relevant, since the first is just a mistake of a Subvi, where I try to shut down the power supply in case of error, and that the part is not connected via wire error.

    So the relevant error is second, the "refnum zero or removed ' a. But how the refnum evaluates to null?

  • Simultaneous inputs from different sources

    I am creating a resistively heated wire heating unit.  What I had planned to do, is to connect the wire to a programmable DC power supply that I would link to a USB-232 (Jack single port RS232).  I also want to integrate some temperature readings of a thermocouple placed near the heating unit.  I would connect the thermocouple to one of the analog channels of a PCI-6259 (M series).  Already, we have the PCI-6259 (and the connection block), but so far have not bought the power supply DC or USB-232.  Until we buy these, anyone know if this configuration is still possible?  I wasn't sure if it would be possible to have two separate entries, enter LabVIEW from two different sources (USB and PCI) simultaneously.  Also, are there any other ways I could do it easier?  I looked into analogue programmable power supplies DC, which I was in control of the PCI-6259, but these seem to be still more expensive than RS 232 controlled ones.

    Hi Stephen.

    You can have devices to multiply the input/output, how you design your code will detemin how well that work. The USB port can produce at the same time as the PCI card is entered. The channels you create what you will specify aquire and when.

    What is the programmable DC power you are looking at?

    I'm trying to control a PSP Instek-603 programmable power via the built in RS-232 communication. I found a thread in the forum covering this:

    However, my problem is not solved by the solution here. I tried all the things suggested it, but I'm still not able to read the PSP. After adjusting the settings for the characters of the termination, I was able to write to the instrument (I was able to adjust the parameters of the computer). I think it is very strange that the reading still does not work.

    Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be the problem?

    I am not an expert in serial communication, but in the quick reference Guide series (http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371253a.pdf), you could see that the rs232 interface is not a constant 12VDC.

    You must build your own null-modem cable.  The #4 pin is connected to the + 12VDC of power.  The power I used is the cheapest available on the e-store ($ 20 - 12 VDC and 40 watts). I am ashamed to show you my cable, but this should give you an idea.

    I bought a Sorensen XG programmable power supply 60-14. I have the installation usb connection and the works of vi example. However, I can't understand how to use distance as a source of current to the Peltier module in the car. The example shows how to specify the current AND output voltage, power, so constant. I need to set the output current and voltage should depend on the load. Of running I must also define a voltage limit.

    What you want to display the current value.  Then set the voltage the maximum voltage you want to output.  If the load requires more current for voltage, the power supply should enter into a mode of current constant.

  • Control of heating/cooling (Peltier) in DC (not PWM)

    I am trying to set up a system to control heater / cooler Peltier element like this:

    +/-5V @ 1. 25A

    With the help of current continuous (through a PID controller), not a PWM.

    I am considering using CRIO or PXI platforms.

    -The CRIO, I found the motion controller 9505, but I'm not sure I can drive to DC.

    -On PXI system, I found this 4110 food, but it seems to be a (crazy) overkill solution for the problem.

    I could even include a small amplifier in the output of an AO module, but I wanted to avoid adding external elements to my solution of NOR.

    Can anyone advice me on the ebest way to do using CRIO?

    I'm sorry for the confusion. What you need for a stand-alone cRIO-system:

    1 cRIO chassis

    2 cRIO controller

    3. analog or a NOR-9505

    You can control the NI 9505 - by a PWM signal, you can't drive to a domain controller. If I look at your needs posted, I wouldn't use CompactRIO.

    You can use the PXI system. Then you will have an industrial pc with again a output analog credits in combination with an amplifier. If you want a clean system, it will be possible to use the programmable power supply. With the PXI-4110, you have the possibility to combine channels for voltage/current higher (up to 2 MPa). A problem can be speed, please consult the manual if the speed is applicable:

    If a system is not a problem, I will go for a compactDAQ, USB or PCI-solution.

    I would like to know if there is any kind of a power programmable mechanism available for nodes. For example, I would be as a node to be off for a few days, turn back the sample at 1 Hz for a few hours and then turn off again for the next few days.  Is it possible to do? (When I say, it shuts down, I don't speak the day before, where he consumed energy by sending a "heartbeat" signal every 61 seconds)

    Another question I have is if I cut the bridge for x minutes and then turn it back on again, the end-nodes/routers connect to the network automatically? Is there an upper limit to x?

    To answer your first question, there is no way to have the WSN node powered itself off and then put the new one.  The only thing you can do is to sleep.  I, however, need a separate system that will be poer node on and outside, but it is a system that you would have to build.

    Just a quick note. I use the power of the sensor to the 3202 WSN node. I found that when I deploy a VI on the programmable node, power out sensor shuts down unless I read an analog input. I set it to "Always On" and initially I only read entry digital, but the sensor on turned off the coast.

    Hi JChec,

    When you set an analog attribute, in fact you have then explicitly read this string of the attribute to set.  If you set the attribute, and then never read this channel HAVE, then the property won't actually down for the material.  I assume that you set the property in the case of start-up?  If you are, then set the property, then do a reading on this channel.  After reading this, you should see the sensor of exit stay on.

    Is not intuitive, I know.  We are looking for ways that we could make it easier for the user.

    Note: I know that this post can be considered off-topic, but I think my problem is with how I'm trying to control my instrument (not the PID controller); That's why I posted my question here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Seen: I have a power supply programmable dual channel, a wheel and a PID controller.

    Find: The encoder feedback, I would like to use the PID controller to control the outputs on my power supply.

    My solution
    Using the VI below, I can read the encoder and adjust the power supply without a regulator PID. The left loop reads the encoder data, and the loop on the right allows me to "manually" resolve tensions on the channel 1 and channel 2. Specifically, a structure of the event inside the loop on the right send recent tensions 'channel' (as I entered in the respective controls) power supply.

    My problem
    However, the law while loop is not "react" when I can replace this "manual" voltage control a PID controller. The power supply simply does nothing even though the PID is indicative of the power to do something.

    Attempt to correct
